Morning has long been the best time of day for Dan Raven. Master Grey Claw's Cozy Burrow establishment was full proof of the mice's centuries of experience in running a business. Service in their inns was very well organized at the mice.
After visiting the black spider dungeon, the group did not want to do the walk in the new dungeon again. Tom left for the Community Library. The princess went off to have her important conversations and make connections with valued individuals.
Dan decided to take up blacksmithing. It was an interesting pastime. The price policy in the new world suited the friends completely. They could afford to spend a lot of money to buy a valuable drawing. Dan bought the resources and the drawing at the auction. Then he spent several hours in a fun game of item creation. He ended up having a lot of fun and getting tired.
The young man woke up in the morning and took a bath. He went down to the great hall of the establishment and began to eat breakfast. A relaxed Tom walked over to the table and greeted him.
"Good morning, Dan. Ready for a duel with Rudolph?"
"I hadn't thought to prepare for it. Our fate in the game world will become very unhappy if we start paying attention to such trivial things. Try these muffins. They're delicious," the young man nodded his head. He wasn't thinking about the duel. He was thinking about the consequences of the duel. Vampires were a strong organization. He might get into some trouble. And Dan didn't want to upset the vampires! The vampires were funny and behaved carefully and decently in Grossroads. There was some strange rebellious vampire tribe living in the Community. To pounce on a new person without warning and try to mark them is savage and insolent.
At that moment, an uninvited guest entered the room and went straight to the friends' table. Vampire Rudolph showed that he has respect for time. Such an unpleasant procedure as a duel he did not put off for an indefinite period.
"It's a good thing you're awake already. Our meeting won't take long. Are you ready for the duel?" Rudolph did not take a seat at the table.
"Can such duels be held indoors in decent places?" Raven could not believe such an outrage.
The vampire grimaced at the human's naive simplicity and nodded toward the exit.
"Let's not be rude. Let's go outside," the vampire suggested. "Don't you have acquaintances to keep you company?"
"My acquaintances are not interested in such outrages as citizen fights. Warriors are supposed to fight monsters," the young man muttered.
The vampire did not answer and left the room. Dan also stood up and spoke softly toward the unseen clone. "Still refusing to bet? Twelve strokes. A dozen is enough for you to finish off that brat."
Phantom didn't bring up the old subject. He didn't think it was necessary to make ridiculous bets related to the subject of death. Tom quickly went outside and noticed that Rudolph had come in with the company of two acquaintances. The vampires looked like solid participants in an important meeting. None wore armor, but all had special swords with long, narrow blades.
Rudolph also took his time to fully equip himself. The vampire stood and smiled the haughty smile of a victor. His handsome face was not protected by a helmet.
Dan Raven didn't want to take any chances. All the details of the duel had been discussed with Tom. This world needs to get to know some of the peculiarities of the human Dan Raven. No need to make a special secret out of a player's most powerful skill. Dan has to resort to the help of the phantom too often. The citizens of Grossroads have already appeared in this world. They were very wise and strong citizens. The young man was well aware that Grogrub was a very serious opponent. And the young man hoped that the gnome did not hold a grudge against him. Grograb could afford to express his dislike. But it is better if this gnome does not start active intrigues against the young warrior.
The swordsman's figure appeared in the doorway. He was wearing a full set of medium armor. It was an excellent set that cost a lot of gold and showed the very best of Grossroads' blacksmithing craftsmanship.
"And how does a duel begin in this place? I'm ready to begin," Dan offered.
"Then start," laughed Rudolph.
And at that moment, a scarlet flash flashed near the vampire! An invisible phantom with a blade in his hand had already sneaked up on his opponent. Tom waited for permission and struck his foe at once. No one was going to be ceremonious with this fool. Today the vampires must see the power of Baron Raven!
Above the amazed vampire's head, the scarlet numbers of damage appeared. His face reflected pain and disagreement with this course of the duel. The man continued to stand at the entrance. He did not move from his position and only a sword appeared in the young warrior's hand. But the man strangely held the weapon. He held the sword by the blade next to the handle. And at that moment Rudolph noticed the figure of a new adversary appearing at his opponent's shoulder. Clone! The human has a spell to summon a clone! But clones do not act as strong fighters. What was it now? Who did the damage?
The vampire didn't have time to find the right solution. Suddenly the clone figure disappeared. Rudolph did not see the sword disappear from the baron's hand. The invisible clone jumped up to the vampire again and struck him with the most powerful skill of any warrior. The patron's skill showed its effect. The scarlet flash coincided with a sharp pain that pierced Rudolph's head. The blade struck the head which had no protection! The blow was very strong and the vampire froze in a stun. It wasn't a magical skill Stun. It was the body's natural reaction to suddenly inflicting heavy damage.
The two vampires drew their blades and tried to interfere in the fight! An outrageous disturbance was taking place before their eyes. The human was using sorcery improperly. It was bad sorcery. This was no way to conduct duels! The vampires sprang toward young Rudolph. At that moment, a third clone managed to approach the unfortunate vampire who had been the first to contact the terrible Legacy player of the human race.
A scarlet flash and a new blow to the unfortunate vampire's head. Tom did not pity this citizen. Someone should be a clear example that you shouldn't have duels with humans.
The peculiarities of player duels were familiar to Dan and Tom. They had done enough duels in Grossroads. The most disgusting and creepy part was that the unprotected part of the body took full damage! That said, the first blow could not have been fatal. There were horrible wounds on Rudolph's head from which blood flowed. But the level 27 player's health reserve was large enough to withstand several of the hardest blows. Dan believed that Rudolph was a competent and cautious vampire. Master Kornelius had only once made the wise observation that in this world it was necessary to allocate attributes harmoniously. Dan thought that Rudolph's health reserve could not have been less than 6500 health points. A full set of the best armor and items gave 65 points to each attribute.
With a regular nineteenth-level sword, the clone did 734 damage if his strike struck an unprotected part of his opponent's body. Ten or twelve blows are enough to destroy any enemy.
The three vampires didn't understand what was going on. This duel was going wrong. One participant was using insidious sorcery. The other could not resist the brutal blows from the invisible assassin.
A new flash and a new blow caused Rudolph to fall to the ground.
"Baron Raven, I demand you stop this sorcery," one of the vampires shouted.
Dan was not distracted and managed to summon a new phantom. He felt an unpleasant irritation. Why were these vampires distracting him? Everything was happening too fast in a dueling situation! It only took a second to summon a clone and pull a new sword from his inventory. Dan was pleased that he and Tom had been using the tactic of attacking from invisibility for too long. The player knew how to apply the new phantom summon in time. He was guided by the effect of using the Rage of Ars attack.
The new phantom flashed like a calm assassin and immediately disappeared from view. A new sword appeared in the young man's hand. And the two vampires heard a new groan from their familiar. The ruthless assassin sprang toward the vampire and struck the body that had no time to get up off the ground. The blade struck the head again! It was outrageous and demanded intervention.
"I won't let you do this," one of the vampires shouted and rushed toward the man.
Dan had been waiting for this development. There were no rules or dueling codes in this town. It was possible to attack a single citizen in a group. One could challenge a group of opponents to a duel. But in either case, there was a treaty between the participants before the duel began.
"Don't do it! Otherwise, we'll fight again," laughed the tall elf who had been watching the interesting duel from the beginning from invisibility.
The vampire froze in place and hissed a curse at his old opponent. At that time, the invisible clone struck Rudolph the vampire again, severely wounded. It was not a duel. An unpleasant humiliation and destruction of an opponent in front of several citizens. At this moment, it became clear to all that the strange human was worthy of closer scrutiny.
"Rudolph admits to losing! Stop doing that, human! I demand mercy," declared one of the vampires.
"Mercy must be earned. It is not right to stop my first duel," Dan muttered and summoned a new clone.
"Kordel, let's go into this cozy place. I'm sure this funny warrior will agree to talk to us. Turns out we have a lot to discuss," laughed the elf and made his way to the inn.
"Disgusting sight in the morning. I need a drink of blood," one of the vampires muttered as he walked past Dan.
The young man suddenly realized that no one wanted to keep watching and reliving the course of this beating. But he wasn't the one who started this fight. He could only end it for his benefit.
Dan Raven summoned a new clone.
