Oblivion

Diana’s POV He sent a servant to wake me up in the middle of the night to make him an omelet and I refused to step out of my bed. He had several cooks at his disposal, why would he need me to make an omelet when he hadn’t tasted my food before? It didn’t make any sense to me. Besides, I wasn’t in a good mood due to my condition and I informed the servant that I wasn’t his maid and that if he needed an omelet she could make one for him herself. He had gotten angry as usual and vowed to punish me and he kept true to his promise. It’s been two days since I walked into Francheska hoping to get an interview for an internship and Jack has been holding me hostage ever since, forcing me to accept that I’m his mate before he lets me go. “I know I haven’t told you this before but I would’ve been a lot nicer to you if you weren’t an insolent, cursed partner.” “We’re not—“ He grabbed a large chunk of my hair and pulled it back with so much force that I felt my scalp burn with pain. “Don’t you dare say that to my face, Diana?” Jack yelled. “For the life of me, I do not understand why you’re so reluctant to fulfill your obligation but I finally understood why your father was so eager to die and leave you and your mother all alone to fend for yourselves. Do you know why?” I choked back on my sobs as his words cut through me like a knife plunged into my heart. I was finding it difficult to breathe as the ugly memories came rushing back. I thought I buried them so many years ago but I thought wrong. He continued without any regard for the tears still streaming down my cheeks. “It’s because you’re worthless to him and everyone else. You’re nothing but a cursed wolf with intentions to take me down with you and that’s why you’re planning on rejecting me because you want me to suffer with you. I curse the day I set my eyes on you and that is why I am steadfast in giving you so much pain as revenge for everything I’ve lost because of you. You deserve all the hurt and disgrace in this world and I’m willing to give it to you till your last breath!” I shuddered at his words as more tears streamed down my face. I could feel the anger oozing out from him. “And for the sake of your mother. I hope you change your mind because if you don’t…” Don’t you dare put your hands on my mother! I desperately wanted to yell this out but I couldn’t bring myself to for fear of more punishment for I had never seen a more despicable man filled with so much hatred in my life. “You don’t need an algorithm to know that you’re going to end up just like she did. Worthless and unable to contribute anything meaningful to society.” He yelled. “Is that what you plan to bring into my home when you finally accept me?” His grip on my hair tightened, making me whimper in pain. “How do I know that any child you bring forth would be mine in the first place? I’m willing to place a wager that every male wolf within the area has spent considerable time with you in your chambers!” I shut my eyes, cringing at his words. These words weren’t befitting for any child to be a recipient of and that was what I was mostly scared about. He hadn’t shown me any trace of compassion, how did he expect me to accept to be his mate when he treated me like I was a common slave? “You may think otherwise but I have morals and if I didn’t, I wouldn’t have walked into your company looking for a job because the kind of person you think I am wouldn’t do what I was about to do,” I yelled back at him, unable to control my frustration any longer. “I haven’t been with anyone before and I have maintained my decency. You may not believe anything I’ve said but this is the truth so don’t call me a w***e because I am not one!” His hand left my hand and traveled around my neck squeezing hard and restricting my airflow, my eyes went wide as I clutched at his hands gasping for air before I passed out. “You think you have the liberty to use your mouth whenever you like, right?” He sneered at me, his tongue peeking out as he dragged it against his lips. I felt bile rise in my throat as his claws came out to pierce my skin and his grip tightened. His wolf was starting to come out and I felt raw fear wash over me. “If you want to talk, I will show you how to use your mouth properly.” He pushed me away, releasing his hold on my neck and I slumped to the floor gasping for air as he stood to his feet. He didn’t give me a moment to catch my breath before he bent and picked me up swiftly with one harsh move and with a few long strides, he reached the bed and threw me on it with a growl and I cried out in pain as my head connected with the headboard, tears clouding my vision. “Please,” I begged but I knew it was futile as I took one look at his face. He wasn’t going to stop hitting me until I changed my mind and I knew that he would care less if I died but I couldn’t let that happen because of my mother. She would have no one to support her and I knew she would die of heartbreak if I didn’t make it out here alive. “Don’t beg, it’s disgusting.” He snarled before he raised his hand and smacked me hard across the face. “I need an answer, Diana.” Jack began. “And this would be the last time I’ll ask.” “The answer is yes, Jack. The answer is yes.” I whispered before sinking into oblivion.
