6- A New Life And A New Man.

Love Cameron: 4 Years Later: "I read the file, and I can't praise you enough," Darren Stein, the CEO of a multibillion-dollar franchise, complimented me with a smile. It was no small feat to receive his praise. He was widely regarded in the human world as a business genius. I had started working here two years ago but had recently been promoted to his assistant. "Thank you so much," I replied with a smile, lowering my head and gazing at my hands. The day I left the werewolf world, I felt utterly lost in the human world. However, I quickly realized it was a much better place to be than the werewolf realm. A kind girl found me on the streets when I was a homeless pregnant teenager and offered me help. It was from there that I began to rebuild my life. In fact, Darren was her best friend, and that connection helped me a lot with the job as well. She requested him to give me a chance and even assisted in educating and preparing me for this position. Our company primarily sold perfumes, but now Darren was venturing into a new branch that would involve making jewelry as well. However, being near the silver used in jewelry-making was sometimes challenging for me. It caused me to worry about carrying some to home, but since I didn’t have an active wolf, I didn't have to worry too much about it. "Your work from now on will involve standing beside me and assisting with my schedule and meetings," he said as he closed the file, which happened to be my last project before I assumed the role of his personal assistant, and he gave me a warm smile. He was remarkably good-looking and had achieved a lot at just 26 years of age. His green eyes and brown hair made him stand out, and his tall, over 6-foot physique added to his presence. "I'll do my best to never disappoint you," I replied, offering a slight bow before leaving his office to call Hilla and thank her once more for all her support. "Miss Hilla Pat, thank you so much for all the support and help over the years. I can't thank you enough, and I actually owe you a treat for this promotion I've received," I spoke hastily, not even allowing her to get a word in. I wanted to express my gratitude because without her, I don't think I would have thrived in this world. "Hey, calm down. First, congratulations, and second, I'll be the one celebrating your success. You've accomplished a lot, so now just enjoy your new position and start thinking about your personal life," the moment she brought up the topic of me being single for years, I felt a twinge of heartbreak from the last time. "I'll think about it. Now, let me get started on my work before Darren realizes I'm a bad choice," I chuckled before hanging up the call. This new position was going to be a huge relief for me. I didn't mind working extra hours, but there was someone waiting for me at home, eager to spend time together. Now I could finally manage to devote time to that special someone. The rest of the day was quite fascinating. The fact that I only had to sit in the corner of Darren's office, attend his important calls, and write down his meeting schedule was a significant change from the hustle and bustle of the factory and dealing with silver. This was now a dream job for me. The only thing is that now I have to face Darren Stein every day. I used to work for him before, but our encounters were quite minimal. I knew he was a bit of a hothead, but only when it came to someone not doing their job properly. So now, I was going to see and get to know him more. I got out of the cab at my apartment complex, carrying toys and some snacks. The apartment complex was fancy, but the people here were real snobs. They often gave me the cold shoulder because I was a single mom. Some of the ladies wouldn't even let their kids play with mine. Even when I entered the elevator, these women made sure there was a substantial gap between us. The awkward silence was annoying, and the elevator door's "ding" was a relief, saving me from sinking into depression. I got off on the fourth floor and approached my apartment with a big smile on my face. After leaving the werewolf world, I entered a new world where I gave birth to my sweet twins who had recently turned 3. They were the center of my world. They were the reason I kept pushing forward each day. I worked tirelessly just to give them the perfect life I never had. "Thank you, Nena, for taking care of them," I said as I entered the apartment, expressing my gratitude to the thirty-year-old nanny who came by every day to babysit them. "It's always a pleasure to take care of these two angels," she smiled. "Congratulations on the big promotion," she added, giving me a quick hug. "Thank you so much, but you won't have to babysit them for a whole day anymore," I joked, and she nodded in agreement. "I know that. I can't live without those two either," she said and began packing her things to leave for the night. It had been frustrating to come home to my kids already in bed, but all my hard work had paid off, and starting Monday, I would be arriving home by 4 pm. "I hated coming home to find them asleep most of the time," I sighed, recalling all the evenings when they would eagerly wait for me while I was working hard to buy them gifts and pay bills. "This promotion is definitely for the best," Nena agreed. "Anyway, I'll head home now," Nena said as she moved toward the door. She stopped suddenly, as if she had just remembered something, and turned to me. "By the way, umm, something seemed to be bothering little Imogen," Nena paused at the door and looked at my face with a concerned frown. "What? Did something happen today?" I asked with concern. I was very protective of my kids. A single complaint from them and I'd become anxious. Initially, I had considered sending them to pre-k, but I changed my mind. My kids were not like other children, even though I wished they were. They were werewolves, and I always worried about their strength. I wanted to wait until they were 5 years old before starting their schooling so they could understand things better. Besides, I now have two precious years to spend time with them and help them learn to stay calm. "I think she might have learned some pranks from the internet. Yeah! It was probably just a trick to try and scare me," Nena chuckled at herself for believing what Imogen had told her. However, my curiosity remained. "Why, what did she say?" I asked, curious. Since I never had an active wolf, I couldn't fully understand what it felt like to possess such power. I wanted to know if my kids inherited their strength from their father or if they were like me. I wouldn't mind them not having a wolf since it was a safer choice to live in the human world. "She kept saying that she was hearing these noises," Nena explained. "What noises?" I inquired, growing more interested. "Howls!" Nena replied, and a shiver ran down my spine. "Howls of a wolf," she added.
