7-A Date With A Hot CEO

Love Cameron: It's been a month since I started working as a personal assistant for Darren, and everything has been going well. He's been nice to me, but I've noticed his temper flaring up from time to time. However, it hasn't been a big deal. The only irritating thing has been the women hitting on him, and he would often ask me to turn down their invitations for dinner with him. "Imogen!" I exclaimed, pausing my chewing to engage in conversation with her. After Nena informed me about her assertions, I inquired about the howls, but she insisted it was just a sound from a movie and that she was merely attempting to frighten Nena. "I learned something from your brother," I mentioned, setting my fork aside while she continued to eat. Her plump, rosy cheeks warmed my heart, making it difficult to scrutinize her actions. "Elijah informed me that you frightened him last night," I stated firmly, my arms folded on the table, emphasizing my seriousness. Imogen steadily raised her head to stare at me with her big green eyes. "Mommy! I didn't intend to scare him. I heard howls outside the window," she confessed, her voice carrying a hint of guilt. "She's not telling the truth. We're so far above the ground floor. How could a wolf reach our terrace from the ground? Wolves don't have wings," Elijah grumbled and protested. "I'm not fibbing. I hear the howls, and it scares me," Imogen exclaimed, pushing her plate away and on the verge of tears until I took her hand and signaled Elijah not to provoke her. "I trust you, alright?" The moment I said that, she lifted her head and smiled, feeling reassured. "Now, tell me, what do you hear?" I gently squeezed her hand, ensuring she knew I was there for her, ready to listen. I had multiple concerns, one of which was the notion that hearing wolf howls could imply a nearby werewolf. "I hear howls, mommy," she reiterated. "Is it from several wolves or just one at a time?" I inquired, noticing Elijah's lack of interest. The primary issue I had encountered during our time here was the twins' strained relationship. Elijah, for some reason, was rather laid-back, which clashed with Imogen's emotional nature. "It's from one wolf," she affirmed, raising a single finger to emphasize her point, employing gestures to communicate. "See, she's not telling the truth. How can she be sure it's the same wolf every time?" Elijah teased, causing her to cross her little arms over her chest and pout. "Elijah!" I gave him a stern look, and he mouthed an apology, though I suspected he wasn't genuinely sorry, as he promptly stuck his tongue out to irritate her. "You're supposed to be looking out for your sister, not making fun of her. You two are twins; you should be the best of friends," I sighed, having repeated this lesson to them numerous times and growing weary of it. "Now, Imogen--" Before I could proceed with more questions, she sighed and turned her face away. "I'm not sharing anything else. I don't think anyone cares or believes me," she grumbled and hastily got up from her chair, even though I hadn't finished. Once she left for her room, my focus shifted to Elijah. "That was very unkind," I shook my head in disapproval. Elijah didn't argue with me, but it was evident that he didn't feel remorseful either, as he got off the chair and resumed playing with his toys. After finishing the dishes, I entered my daughter's room once more and joined her as she colored some butterflies in her coloring book. "My beautiful pearl, you do realize that your mother believes everything you say, don't you? Never feel like just because a few people are making fun of you, it means you shouldn't share your feelings or truth with anyone. Don't let anyone have power over your emotions, especially those who mock you," I softly rubbed her elbow, observing a bit of comfort in her body language. "I can tell it's one wolf. He feels so familiar, like I know him," she turned to me to share more. "Hmm, then perhaps it's someone we're acquainted with," I frowned in concern. Could it be that she's sensing her wolf awakening? But she mentioned the wolf as male, while her wolf should be female. Nevertheless, she might be mistaken. "Mommy! I feel much better now," she smiled, bringing me back to the present. "Listen, if you hear him again, could you let me know?" I asked, and she happily nodded her head. I was concerned that her wolf might be awakening, but she's only 3, so that wouldn't be possible. It was around 7 pm, and I had already cleaned the apartment and taken care of my kids' needs when my phone rang, and I saw that it was Darren calling. He usually didn't call outside of office hours, so I found it rather unusual. "Hello?" I answered the call, preparing my bed to get comfortable and read a book. "Miss Love!" he cleared his throat, "I'm near your apartment. Could you come out and join me for an ice cream meetup?" His voice was calm, but it was the unexpected offer that caught me off guard. A frown creased my forehead, as it was such an unexpected request. "Umm! This time?" I muttered under my breath. It felt a bit strange because going out at this hour as a single mother wasn't the most ideal situation, but he had no knowledge of my personal life. I had promised my friend to keep it a secret from anyone. "Why? Is there a problem?" he inquired, but the playfulness in his voice had faded. I pondered whether I should decline his offer or accept it. Why did he want to take me out? Was this a date? "I don't quite understand," I whispered softly, and fortunately, he sensed my confusion. "Oh, actually, we secured the contract we had been striving for. I received the news just a few minutes ago, so I was already out, and I thought, why not treat you for your hard work? That was your last project before you took over as my assistant. So why not celebrate this success as the last time you'll ever set foot in the factory?" He returned to a cheerful mood, and now that he had clarified, I no longer felt uneasy about it. It's not as if I would have been upset if he had asked me out; I simply wanted to understand the reason for his invitation. "Okay, but could you give me a few minutes? I need to call the house sitter," I requested, and he agreed. I called Nena to come over, and since she lived nearby, she arrived within the next ten minutes. By then, I have quickly taken care of everything and even changed my clothes. "I've already put them to bed, and there's some leftover pizza on the counter. If there's any problem, just give me a call, okay?" I hurriedly gave her instructions while fixing my hair. "Sure, don't worry. Enjoy your date," she said, and I froze in my tracks. I kept staring at her face to understand her. This wasn’t a date, he just wanted to celebrate the locking of the deal with me. "It's not a date," I joked, laughing awkwardly. "It certainly is. Why do you think he's picking you up for an ice cream treat when he could be celebrating with his other wealthy friends?" She rolled her eyes at me, hopped onto the couch, and grabbed the TV remote. "Because he's near the apartments," I replied, maintaining that awkward smile. "Yeah, but it's been fifteen minutes, and he still hasn't shown up," she commented before her attention was completely consumed by the TV screen. Now that she had pointed it out, I began to think she was right. He wasn't in my area, so why did he want to take me out? A fleeting spark of hope coursed through my veins before I quashed it with a shake of my head. He was undeniably handsome and wonderful, but that didn't necessarily mean there could ever be something between us. He was a successful billionaire, and I was merely his assistant. I recalled how things had gone the last time I'd harbored high hopes. I wouldn't allow anyone to toy with my emotions once more. However, since I had already agreed to go for an ice cream treat with him, I couldn't back down this time. Nevertheless, I was determined to remain on high alert for any signs of his intentions towards me. I wouldn't become anyone's one-night stand ever again.
