4-My Mate Is A Cheater

"So you're saying that the most powerful and wealthiest Alpha King is your mate?" Alice mused, rubbing her chin. She sat me down in front of them, and they all gathered around me.

"Yes!" I nodded confidently.

After a brief silence, Alice and Livia burst into laughter, while my father turned his face away, chuckling at my response.

"I'm not joking. It's the truth. He is the man--" I tried to reiterate, but my dad grunted and waved his hand dismissively.

"Get ready; we're taking you to the nurse's house," my dad said, rubbing his temples as he had grown tired from all the laughter, and he issued the order in a much calmer tone now.

"Wait! You can't do this to the Alpha King's mate," I asserted, determined not to let them mistreat me, now more than ever.

"Lady! If he is truly your mate, why hasn't he come for you yet?" Alice placed her hands on her hips and questioned me.

I had the same questions swirling in my mind, but I was prepared to meet him again and find out why he had disappeared as if he'd never existed. I was sure he had a good reason.

"Maybe he has a good reason. Perhaps he forgot my name," as soon as I mentioned that possibility, Livia playfully swatted the back of my head, and I shot her a defiant glare in response.

"You're a fool. An Alpha King and a mere omega she-wolf, that's never going to happen," Livia laughed heartily, clutching her chest.

"You'll all regret mistreating the Alpha King's pregnant Luna Queen. The day he--" I paused because they burst into laughter again.

It was incredibly demeaning and frustrating that they refused to believe my words. I pondered how else I could make them believe me. The only way was to meet the Alpha King himself.

"Get ready," Alice reiterated my father's command after it became clear that they weren't going to take me seriously.

"Go!" Livia rudely pushed me and then headed off to her room.

They were all going with me, probably just to enjoy my discomfort. I felt deeply irritated and wronged.

As they left to get ready, I mentally prepared myself to make one last attempt to meet my mate and talk to him about my pregnancy. He needed to know that I was carrying his child and that these pack members were trying to force me to terminate the pregnancy.

"The Alpha King will make them regret mistreating his Luna Queen," I muttered under my breath as I grabbed my purse and cellphone. I planned to visit Mindy and tell her about the Alpha King. I was certain she had been annoyed, thinking I was making up stories. However, once she realized I was indeed the Alpha King's mate, she would do her best to assist me.

Without wasting any more time, I hurriedly left the apartment before anyone could find me. As soon as I got into a cab, my so-called family began bombarding my phone with messages, some of which were quite threatening. However, their messages didn't deter me from visiting Mindy. I had planned to bring her along to help me find a way to secure an appointment with the Alpha King.

I was familiar with her apartment, having visited countless times. It was small, much like the rogues' apartments, but it was a safe haven where I was never mistreated or harassed.

As I climbed the stairs to her apartment, I began to experience an odd sensation. It was an unusual feeling, as if my heart were sinking, but I pressed on.

I had silenced my phone for obvious reasons. When I knocked on the door to her apartment, I put on a big smile to greet her. She would be pleased to learn that I hadn't fabricated anything.

As soon as she opened the door, I flashed her a warm smile, only to notice her attire. She was wearing a robe that clearly hinted at her being naked beneath it. However, it was the expression on her face that captured most of my attention. I knew she was involved with numerous men, but because they were often powerful figures, nobody really questioned her. Somehow, she had managed to convince the council that she had lost her virginity to her fated mate before he rejected her.

That was the rule.

Just the virginity should be lost to the fated mate. As long as there was no pregnancy, everything seemed to be fine.

"Mindy!" I greeted her with a broken smile.

She glanced behind me and then at me, her face turning noticeably pale.

"Why are you here?" she asked, promptly trying to push me out when I attempted to enter her apartment.

"Aren't you going to invite me inside?" I questioned.

"Love! Why have you come here? Please don't bring any trouble to my doorstep," she sighed, ensuring I couldn't enter her apartment.

"No! I'm not here to cause problems. In fact, I came to share some good news with you," I smiled while searching for the Alpha King's name on my phone.

"What do you mean?" she asked, sounding confused.

"Look! I found my mate. He is none other than the Alpha King Kage Reaper!" I exclaimed with excitement, tears of joy welling up in my eyes as I displayed the screen for her.

However, that perplexed and upset look appeared on her face once more.

"Hmm! There's no way he's your mate. Stop lying," she suddenly hissed, making sure not to raise her voice.

"Mindy! Why are you so opposed to the idea that I--" I began to question her actions when a figure materialized behind her, leaving me so astounded that, for a moment, I couldn't even believe my eyes.

"What's wrong, babe?" Alpha King Kage wrapped his arms around her and kissed her neck, his eyes shifting to my face, a visible frown creasing his forehead.

"What's this, Mindy?" I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. He was only dressed in shorts, and from their intimate body language, it was apparent they had a passionate night together.

"I suppose there's no hiding it now. Allow me to introduce you to my boyfriend and chosen mate, Alpha King Kage Reaper!" The prideful smile on her face shattered my heart into a million pieces.

"How could he be-- you!" I gulped, attempting to steady my breathing.

"Oh, I remember you!" Kage finally released Mindy but ensured he was still holding her hand.

"You're the girl I was with that night," the way he leered at my body and smirked made me feel utterly degraded.

"You're my mate; you marked me," I nearly choked on my tears. How had they ended up together?

"Oh, right!" Kage pretended to recall that night. "It was quite a wild night. You were with me because I gave you a tip," he laughed, even though he knew that wasn't the truth.

"No! We were together because we're mates," I argued, but he silenced me, shaking his head in anger.

"You can't prove that. You don't even have a wolf. Who's to say you're not fabricating all this to trap me?" he shrugged, pulling Mindy closer, who giggled in response.

"You can't do this to me. I'm your mate, and we were intimate. You marked me," I gasped, trying to convey the sheer cruelty of their actions.

"Nope! I didn't. I don't want you at all. I desire this perfect s*x Goddess right here," he unabashedly opened Mindy's robe, revealing her body to me. She squirmed uncomfortably for a moment before forcing a smile to please him.

"What about--us?" I didn't even know if disclosing my pregnancy would make a difference. He appeared incredibly indifferent, and I wondered if he'd even want me to keep our babies.

Moreover, it wasn't just about him accepting me now. He had been sleeping with my friend.

"Ah! I'll tell you what," he clicked his tongue and fixed his sharp green eyes on my face, his messy black hair falling on his forehead and his high cheekbones making him look even more imposing. "I, Alpha King Kage Reaper, reject you, Love Cameron, as my mate!"

A numbing sensation washed over my body, and before I realized it, my heart was in a vise, causing me intense pain.

"Ugh!" I groaned, hugging myself and hunching down slightly.

"Ah, look! She has a wolf," he taunted, taking a step back from me. "Now, accept my rejection, or else--"

He paused, and I struggled to straighten my back.

"Or else, I'll abandon you in a place from which you'll never return," he warned, narrowing his eyes at me and sending shivers down my spine.

So, that's why I was brought to the border. He wanted to dispose of me?

I finally had all the answers, and they shattered me.

"Accept my rejection," he repeated his words as he drew nearer, and I backed away, only to have my back slammed against the wall.

"I accept your rej--jection," there was nothing more to plead for.

He seemed elated to have extracted a rejection from me. I had thought that fated mates were supposed to love each other. Why had he turned out to be so cold-hearted? And why Mindy?

Why not me?

"Get rid of her and come back to bed," his tone shifted as he ordered Mindy, completely ignoring me.

"Why? And how!" I sobbed, my words interrupted by hiccups as I tried to seek an explanation from her.

"I looked him up in the registry for you, and, well, it was like love at first sight," she appeared so casual as she retied her robe. "And don't worry, I did mention you to him. But he simply said he'd rather be with me than accept you. Who in their right mind would pass up such an opportunity?" She shrugged but lacked the courage to meet my gaze.

All this time, when I thought she had been searching for him, she was actually sleeping with him. That's why she cut off contact with me, as she had found what she was looking for all along.

They f*****g betrayed me.
