Reyn’s POV
Having a mate never occurred to me. After what happened, all I wanted, all I was thinking about was revenge. I didn’t want a mate, even though meeting him does feel good... somehow.
But I can’t be with him. It’s for his own good. Plus, I can’t have any distractions. I’m glad Kill doesn’t really want a mate either. I can’t be with him, but I don’t want to upset her either.
I love my wolf. She’s my strength and will to keep going.
‘What you want is what I want. Haven’t you realized that already?’ Kill asks, but I can tell his thoughts on us upset her.
I’m not going to lie, they did affect me too, but I’m not going to show it. After all, who can mask pain better than me?
After Jason asked me who I was, Kill was ecstatic to see their faces when I told them. Honestly, after all the disrespect they’ve shown us, I'm kind of excited too.
I mean... I am one with my wolf, and even though she has quite a temper sometimes, we do enjoy the same things, one of them being the fear we inspire in others.
“Well, I’ve gotten many names from others during the years, but I guess people know me best as Kill.”
“Kill? The assassin Kill?” the alpha growls out.
“In the flesh.”
He tries to act like it doesn’t affect him a bit, but I can see him getting tense and alert. I can feel the fear in the others, and it feels incredible.
“What are you doing here?” he asks, trying to maintein his dominating voice
Now that the alpha knows who I am, he realizes that he needs to be careful around me. He heard of me and what I’m capable of... I highly doubt there's a wolf that hasn't heard of me.
“Reyn? Is that you?” a feminine voice asks
How does she know my name?
“Oh my God! It’s really you! Ry!” she exclaims and comes to hug me with tears in her eyes.
I remain still. Ry... only my parents called me that, and their...
“Nora?”
“I can’t believe you’re here. I... I don’t know what to say. Tylor will be so happy to see you.”
“Mom? What the hell are you doing? Do you know who she is?” the alpha asks, but Nora ignores him and gives me a sad look.
“What are you doing, my child? Becoming an assassin isn’t what your parents would want for you. What happened to the sweet girl I used to know? The bright girl whose smile enlightened everyones' faces. This isn’t you, my dear...”
I let go of her and turn around, taken aback by her question. She’s right, my parents wouldn’t want me to be like this.
But they’re no longer here...
“That girl died the day her family was slaughtered,” I answer, looking straight into Jax’s eyes, with a cold voice full of so much hatred I can feel everyone around me taking a step back.
“That girl is still alive in there somewhere. And I’m sure she doesn’t like what she’s currently doing. You took a lot of lives, Ry...” Nora continues.
“Don’t accuse me!” I growl at her even though I don’t mean it. “I never took an innocent life. I only killed those responsible.”
“And how is Jax responsible for what happened?”
I turn around and see Tylor. He probably heard my discussion with Nora. I see him tense and look at Jax as if he wants to tear him apart, but I won’t let him. My plans are much more significant for him.
And this is my revenge.
“Tylor--” I begin.
“What does he have to do with the m******e, Ry?” Tylor continues.
I turn around to look at Jax. To say he's terrified it's an understatement.
‘As he should be!’ Kill growls.
“He’s the bastard who ordered seven f*****g rogues to r**e my five-year-old little sister and made me watch her pain, her screams, her last breath, every-f*****g-thing,” I growl in response.
“What?” I hear Damon ask with pain and fury in his voice.
Why tho? He's disgusted with me... there’s no need to pretend he cares.
“You bastard!”
Tylor storms by us, his claws already out, ready to attack Jax, but I freeze him midair before he gets to s***h Jax’s throat, using my witch power.
He’s mine to kill, and I’ll be damned if I give him such an easy death.
“Don’t. I’ll be the one to make this filth pay,” I say and release Tylor from my spell and walk towards Jax.
“How did you do that?” Tylor asks, perplexed by what I did.
“I’m part-witch. Time to go, you little s**t,” I say but as I am about to leave with Jax, Tylor stops me.
“Wait! Where are you going?” he asks.
“His time has come. It's time he pays for what he did.” I answer, and by now, Jax is already crying.
“Do it here.”
“What?” I ask, confused.
“Do it here. I want to watch and see him suffer,” Tylor answers with black eyes, his wolf coming to the surface.
“Are you sure? It’s not gonna be pr--” I begin but get interrupted once again.
“Do it.”
“I’ll wait inside for you,” Nora says as she's already on her way inside.
But it doesn’t seem like anyone else will leave. I turn my full attention to Jax. Closing my eyes, I begin my spell, and the seven rogues that r***d my sister appear next to me. I found them last week and felt the need to rip them apart, but I decided to keep them alive for this moment. The same rogues that r***d my sister are about to r**e the one who ordered them to do so.
“Remember them?” I ask.
“Y-Yes,” Jax replies.
“Remember what they’ve done? What you had them do?” I continue to ask and feel my anger rising.
“Y-Yes.”
“Good. It wouldn’t be as significant if you didn’t.”
“What? What are you doing?” Jax asks in a high-pitched tone that reveals his terror.
“Don’t bother calling out to them; they’re under my spell and will continue to be my little puppets until their time comes.”
By the time my short speech is over, the rogues are already undressed and proceed to rip Jax’s clothes off his body.
“You want me to put a spell on them so you won’t see them anymore?” I ask Tylor.
“No. Why are you asking me that?” Tylor asks, confused.
“By now, you already know what’s going to happen. I just thought you wouldn’t want to watch that,” I reply.
“And why would you?”
“I love hearing their screams, the terrifying look they give me, watching their pain, to see them pay for what they’ve done to my family, to my pack,” I answer with a dreamy look on my features.
“I want to see it. That bastard killed my best friend, his family, and his pack. I need to see his pain.”
Right now, two of the rogues are f*****g Jax while the others quietly wait for their turn. He cries out in pain, and after a while, he faints.
“Pathetic. Even my sister was able to endure more,” I say in a whisper
I don’t realize I have tears rolling down my cheeks until Damon wipes them off. Why is he even so close to me?
“He already fainted. What’s the point in continuing?” Damon asks.
“They continued to f**k my sister even after she died. He only passed out. He’ll awaken soon,” I respond and feel his grip tighten on me.
“I’m sorry for your pain. I won’t let anyone touch you again.”
His words, although comforting, are making both me and my wolf angry.
‘Now he cares! What happened to the disgrace of having a rogue as a mate!? I want to talk with him. That bastard is out anyway. I’ll give you back the control when he’s awake,’ Kill says to me.
I turn to Damon, he looks back at me, and I see a glimpse of pain in his eyes, but what for?
“Kill wants to speak with you.”
“Kill? Isn’t that your assassin nickname?” he asks, perplexed about the name.
“No. Kill is my wolf,” I respond, and the last thing I see before giving control to Kill is the color of his face draining.
