The Pain Of Love

FAINTING

Skylar had the garage door up as music was blasting as she was painting from morning to noon she would paint and then she would let it dry and later she would do the welding melting her father’s tools and shaping them out into petals for the flower she was making for her mother. Skylar took a step back and looked at it then went to wash her hand and paint brushes and the plate; she wipes her hands then went to the welding station putting on the brown cover and gloves with her helmet. Skylar was doing her work; her mother would be back on Friday, so she has been working overtime on the weekdays and trying to finish the flower before her mother comes back as a welcome home gift. An hour later Skylar began to sweat a lot and soon she felt dizzy, so she stops and turn the music down and grab some water her phone was ringing, she saw it was Jacob calling her.

“Hey Pooh-Bear” Skylar said.

“Hey Sky-Bear so I finished work early and I have some food with me” Jacob said.

Skylar saw black dots around her.

“Ja- “Skylar was saying.

A few seconds later Skylar fell to the ground as the phone drop, Jacob heard the clatter of the sound.

“Sky?” Jacob said.

Nothing so he hung up the phone and called again and it was just ringing, so he called Jake.

“Hey bro” Jake said.

“Jake go check on Skylar I think something happened” Jacob said.

“What?” Jake said.

“Now Jake!” Jacob yelled.

Jake hung up the phone and ran out of his room shirtless, he grabs his shirt and ran towards Skyla’s house he saw the garage door open.

“Skylar!” Jake yelled.

Jake ran towards the garage door and saw Skylar on the floor by the doorway.

“Sky” Jake yelled

He tried shaking her, but she didn’t wake up, he took her gloves and brown covers off she was sweating he heard a car pull up, so he picked her up.

“What happened?” Jacob said.

“I don’t know she was laying there when I came” Jake said.

“Get her in the car” Jacob said.

Jake carried Skylar into the car, along with him so they both took off, they were speeding and got to the hospital quick and parking in the emergency driveway, Jacob got down and grab Skylar out, and threw his keys at Jake. Jacob carried her into the hospital.

“We need help!” Jacob yelled.

“Lay her here, what happened?” the doctor said.

“We were talking on the phone and when I got there, she was laying on the floor” Jacob said.

The doctor looked at Skylar’s eyes.

“Get her on some IV and do some blood test” the doctor said.

They took her to a room, but a nurse stops Jacob at the door, Jake came into the hospital.

“What they say” Jake said breathing hard.

“There checking her now” Jacob said.

Jake and Jacob waited for two hours before the doctor came out, they finally stood up and went towards him.

“How is she?” Jacob said.

“We just got the results back, she’s exhausted and for a pregnant woman shouldn’t be working so much” the doctor said.

“Pregnant?” Jacob said.

“Yes, we checked she’s about six and half weeks along” the doctor said.

“Can we see her?” Jacob said.

“She’s sleeping right now. I will be back to check on her” the doctor said.

“Can I be the one to tell her doc” Jacob said.

“Okay, and coagulations” the doctor said.

“Thank you” Jacob said.

The doctor left and as Jake and Jacob went in front of Skylar’s room, Jacob grab Jake’s hand.

“Jake don’t tell her” Jacob said.

“What why?” Jake said.

“The baby she will think it’s mine” Jacob said.

“But she came back until a two weeks ago? How can it be yours, unless” Jake said.

“We didn’t, we just woke up naked, but we never did it. The baby just let her think it’s mine” Jacob said.

“Why? Wouldn’t she know who the father is?” Jake said.

“Jake, just do this for me for once” Jacob said.

Jake sigh out and nodded his head, another doctor was coming out of the room.

“You the father?” the doctor said.

“Yes, and you are?” Jake said.

“I am the head of the gynecologist” the doctor said.

“How is the baby?” Jacob said.

“Fine as of now, she just needs not to over work herself again or it will cause problems” the doctor said.

“Doc can I ask a favor?” Jacob said.

“Sure” the doctor said.

“Can you tell her the baby is two weeks along” Jacob said.

“You’re not the father?” the doctor said.

“He left her, and I don’t want her to go through that pain again. Can you do this for me” Jacob said.

The doctor hesitated but nodded her head, Jacob gave a relief smile and went into Skylar’s room and sat by her bed side, Jake took the other side.

“Did he really leave her?” Jake said.

“I don’t know the story she won’t talk about it; I just know that she’s in pain because of him so you better not say anything” Jacob said.

Jake nodded his head about two more hours later Skylar woke up, Jacob gave her some water and sat her up.

“What happened?” Skylar said.

“You fainted” Jacob said.

Jacob looked at Jake and then looked at the door and Jake nodded his head.

“I will go get us some food” Jake said.

Jake quickly went out of the room and Skylar looked at Jacob with a questioning look.

“Skylar the doctor said you fainted because your exhausted and over work” Jacob said.

“I always over work but I never fainted before” Skylar said.

“They said if you over work again you will lose the baby” Jacob said.

Skylar looked at Jacob with wide eyes.

“Baby?” Skylar whispered out.

“Yeah, your about two and half weeks along” Jacob said.

“You mean we really that night?” Skylar said.

Jacob nodded his head, Skylar slowly place a hand on her stomach, Jacob held her hands.

“It’s really up to you if you want to keep it or not, I will stand by your side” Jacob said.

Skylar had tears in her eyes as she looked at Jacob.

“I’m having a baby with my gay best friend; this kid will be awesome” Skylar said.

Jacob smiled so did Skylar he got up and sat on the bed with her and hug her.

“The baby will be awesome when he or she grows up” Jacob said.

Jacob kissed her head; Skylar was over the moon she thought maybe this baby will help her heal her heart.

“Hello, evening I am Dr. Beckham, and I will be in charge of you through your pregnancy” Dr. Beckham said.

“Hello doctor” Skylar said.

“I did an ultrasound on you while you were sleeping and took the liberty of taking picture of the fetus for you, the baby is growing well and healthy just don’t over work yourself on your next visit we will discuss the due date. Rest for today and tomorrow, your next appointment is at the end of the month I will see you then, here are some information on pregnancy and your prenatal take some now with food” Dr. Beckham said.

“Thank you, Doctor” Skylar said.

The doctor smiled and left a few moments later Jake came back with some food and place them down.

“I assume coagulations are in order” Jake said.

“Thanks Jake you’re going to be an Uncle now” Skylar said.

“Yeah” Jake said.

Skylar began eating and did not see the look between both brothers, Skylar would be released from the hospital in the morning for now she needed rest in the hospital, so Jacob stayed with her. By the next morning Skylar was checked again and reminded of taking it easy for today and eat more and to keep taking her vitamins with food and lots of water as well.

“My mom is going to be so happy” Skylar said.

“s**t! Forgot about that” Jacob said.

“Are you going to tell your parents?” Skylar said.

“I will tonight, but make sure you rest, and I will bring some food over for you” Jacob said.

“Okay” Skylar said.

Jacob drove Skylar back home stopping to get food first and told her to rest and he would be back, Skylar nodded her head as she sat on the couch with food in front of her as Jacob left Skylar looked at the time and knew her mother would be up, so she called her.

“Hey baby” her mother said.

“Hey momma” Skylar said.

“How have you been, I didn’t get your call yesterday” her mother said.

“Sorry I fell asleep” Skylar said.

“And how is the gift going?” her mother said.

“Almost done just need to put it together this is the first time I actually finished a welding project in just a week” Skylar said.

“If it’s too much baby you can always finish it later” her mother said.

“It’s fine mom, like I said just need to piece them together and add the handles like paint” Skylar said.

“That’s great baby” her mother said.

“Did they say what time you will be released on Friday?” Skylar asked.

“In the morning I believe around ten” her mother said.

“Okay, we should be there around nine or eight” Skylar said.

“Okay, how’s everything over there?” her mother said.

“Everything is set up and working but for now I was just painting, and welding haven’t used the pottery stove or the photograph. The heat glass works too that is added on already” Skylar said.

“Don’t forget to make our picture’s we made; we need some new ones up” her mother said.

“I will do that tomorrow and take a break from the welding and just do the painting on the metals” Skylar said.

“I have extra frames in the attic you can use, we have to clean that out as well” her mother said.

“I can just have Jake and the boys do that tomorrow for me” Skylar said.

“Okay, what else do you need to get done?” her mother said.

“Just clean up I did that while Mr. Ackerman was building the pottery stove for me, I even cleaned up your room trash some stuff from there and got new stuff hope that’s okay” Skylar said.

“Oh, can’t wait to see it” her mother said.

“So far mostly empty here on the walls but since I will be doing the develop on t photos it will be a fill some of the wall” Skylar said.

“So now just the attic” her mother said.

“Yes, and I talked with Avery’s dad about the green house they will build it next three weeks since they are busy right now” Skylar said.

“You are getting me tempted for doing the garden lessons” her mother said.

“It will work once you see how I plan the green house for you I kind of took the idea from when I was in Italy” Skylar said.

“Can I take a peek?” her mother said.

“No, it’s my welcome home gift” Skylar said.

“I thought the flower was?” her mother said.

“That is for the hospital release the other is for your baby girl coming home” Skylar said.

“Okay, baby” her mother said.

“I can’t wait to see you” Skylar said.

“Me too baby” her mother said.

“I also have another gift for you, that I will give you on Friday kind of like a pre gift” Skylar said.

“Is it a big gift?” her mother said.

“Yeah, I would say” Skylar said.

“Okay, well lunch is here baby, call you tomorrow” her mother said.

“Okay, mom love you and miss you” Skylar said.

“Love and miss you too baby” her mother said.

Skylar hung up the phone and got up from the couch and went to the fridge grabbing the mixed fruits and some juice she grabs it and went to sit back down on the couch and turn the tv on watching a show. About two hours later Jacob came back from his house and brought some food, Skylar sat up straight and looked at him.

“How did it go?” Skylar said.

“Well, they are okay with me being gay and happy about the baby. Mom said she had a feeling; dad was a bit shocked so was Jake, but they just needed some time to process the gay part, but nobody yelled” Jacob said.

“I want to tell my mom until we get there but I called her, she is doing fine and want’s the attic clean. So, I need to call Jake and the boys to help tomorrow.” Skylar said.

“Did you asked when she will be released?” Jacob asked.

“Yes, at ten in the morning” Skylar said.

“Okay, now on to the important part” Jacob said.

“What?” Skylar asked.

“Where is the baby room going?” Jacob said.

Skylar smiled big.

“I was thinking upstairs the second biggest room is up there and you know toys and what not, let’s go check it out” Skylar said.

“Let’s go” Jacob said.

“Wait let me eat first, kind of hungry” Skylar said.

“Your right” Jacob said.

They ate their food, and hour later they went up to the room it was about almost the same size as the master room just about ¾ is gone, and the closet was a walk in again about half the master walk in closet.

“I was thinking we put the changing table here, the rocking chair by the window and the crib right here and this whole space right here is the play area” Skylar said.

“What color should we do the room, I was thinking you know harry potter theme with some Star Wars” Jacob said.

“I was thinking more Harry Potter, Star Wars is a bit too much” Skylar said.

“What about this when we find out the s*x, we will do both” Jacob said.

“So, basically our child will be a nerd” Skylar said.

“Of course, I mean how many times we dressed as Harry Potter characters and Star Wars characters for Halloween” Jacob said.

“I was Hermione about five time and Princess Leah about seven times” Skylar said.

“Oh my god, remember when your dad got mad about the outfit where you dressed the one where she was captured” Jacob said.

“And mom had to calm him down” Skylar said.

“Okay back to the topic what are we going to do for the set” Jacob said.

“Black with Star Wars theme or brown and do the mischief manage maps on it” Skylar said.

“Nice so half and half, but if a girl just whole Harry Potter and a boy do both” Jacob said.

“Yes” Skylar said.

“Let’s get you to bed you need lots of rest at night and if you need heavy lifting call my dad or Jake, mom will be over in the morning she wants to make breakfast for you” Jacob said.

“Okay night Jacob” Skylar said.

“Night Sky-Bear, night my baby pea” Jacob said.

Skylar chuckled out and went to her room took a shower and went to bed. The next morning Skylar woke up put on her clothes and she heard someone walking around downstairs and knew it would be Jacob’s mother. Skylar place her hair in a messy bun and went downstairs and saw Mrs. Ackerman cooking.

“Morning” Skylar said.

“Morning darling how are you feeling? No, sickness?” Gracie said.

“No, just hungry” Skylar said.

“Jacob told me and I for one am excited” Gracie said.

“I am too, we are going to tell my mother on Friday when we pick her up” Skylar said.

“I bet she will be so happy” Gracie said.

“Yes, she will. We already decided on how to make the baby room” Skylar said.

“Let me guess you both want Star Wars and Harry Potter” Gracie said.

“How did you know?” Skylar said.

“Halloween since you both were kids” Gracie said.

“Okay, is Jake home?” Skylar said.

“Yes, he is” Gracie said.

“Okay” Skylar said.

Gracie gave the food to Skylar, she ate and called Jake about the attic and asked the guys then she went into the photo room and began working about three hours later she finished all the pictures that she had taken when she came back. Skylar went out of the room and went inside as she ordered some food for lunch, she can hear movement upstairs thinking it was the boys working on the attic. A few moments footsteps were coming down and Skylar looked towards the stairway and Jake came into view.

“Hey, you’re out of your small room” Jake said.

“Yeah, was going to do some painting on the welding but I got hungry, so I ordered food.” Skylar said.

“Oh yeah little pea got hungry” Jake said.

“Yes, you guys want anything?” Skylar asked.

“Just give me your card and will go out” Jake said.

“Oh, can you also buy some stuff for me, I would go but Jacob told me to take it easy today so that’s why I am not doing much work” Skylar said.

“Alright just make a list and the guys said the add is now eight” Jake said.

“Eight got it” Skylar said.

“We also found a box of frames do we trash it?” Jake said.

“No, I need those for the photos I made for you guys. Just put it in the garage for me” Skylar said.

“Okay, make the list and I will tell the guys” Jake said.

“Okay” Skylar said.

Jake ran back upstairs, the doorbell rang so Skylar got up and her food was here she got extra cheeseburger with chili fries and lemonade, went to sat at the table when a call came to her.

“Hey Pooh-Bear” Skylar said.

“Hey Sky-Bear, how’s little pea doing” Jacob said.

“We are eating, and Jake is going shopping for me with the guys” Skylar said.

“Okay just making sure you are resting and eating” Jacob said.

“I am taking it slow, I will be sitting down and painting so don’t worry” Skylar said.

“Okay, I will bring food this evening or do you want to cook” Jacob said.

“No, bring me something really good and cake” Skylar said.

“Okay see you both this evening” Jacob said.

“Okay Pooh-Bear” Skylar said.

Skylar hung up the phone and began eating her food as Jake and the boys left, she gave them her card and the list to Jake after she finished eating, she went back into the garage putting the pictures in the frames. Skylar then place the photos that she will put up in the house and the other for the boys she places in the garage she heard a car pull up, so she went back towards the garage as Jake and the boys got out bring in bags.

“Just place them in the kitchen for me” Skylar said.

The guys nodded their heads and Skylar went to work on the metal she had to remelt the plastic from the tools and began painting it on the flower petals by evening she was finished so were the guys. Skylar gave them the photo to the guys when she came back and they thank her she even signs her name on there for them as well, Skylar looked around the garage she cleaned back up and went to grab the other photos from the small room and closed the garage door and going back inside. Skylar spent the next hours placing the photos in the frame she made a small one for her mother, she used the picture of where they were both holding hands and looking at each other standing on the dock by the river. She places the other along the walls going up the stairs, she put the food away that Jake brought back for her, she was getting kind of hungry again, so she made herself a smooth and called her mother.

“Hey baby” her mother said.

“Just wanted to call you that we will leave at seven tomorrow” Skylar said.

“Okay baby” her mother said.

“Jacob will spend the night here so we can leave, and do you want me to bring you anything?” Skylar said.

“No just my gift. Get some sleep baby” her mother said.

“Okay night mom sees you tomorrow” Skylar said.

“Night baby” her mother said.

Skylar had her smoothie and ate again when Jacob came by evening, he had brought her steaks with baked potato and salad with lemonade with strawberry cheesecake when she was finished, she went upstairs took a shower and, she took her clothes out for the morning and she got ready for bed. Jacob went to sleep on the couch downstairs in middle of the night Skylar became hot in middle of the night, so she got up and open some windows and turn the fan on finally she felt cool and was able to go back to sleep.
