Skylar step off the plane at Lakeside Beach Airport, she went to the baggage claim section got her luggage and went out of the airport there were taxi cabs out, so she was able to find one and got on the ride. “Where to miss” the diver said. “1305 Lakeshore Drive” Skylar said The driver nodded his head, Skylar looked out the window she has not been home for five years after high school she just left with her best friend now she was home, it took 23 minutes from the airport to home but since it was after working hours it was a bit longer. Skylar looked out the window as Marble Falls Texas was coming to her view, she saw the downtown had a fresh look, she kind of miss home. A few moments later she can see that they were on her street she looked at the homes of the people she once knew as they got closer to her home Skylar breath became shaky the driver pulled up to her home, she lived at the end of the street of Lakeshore. Skylar got down from the cab and looked at her home that has not change much, the driver took her luggage down and she paid him. Skylar stood in front of the lawn as she looked at the home, she then looked next door where her best friend lives, but she told her that her parents moved, she then looked behind her at the two-story home and saw lights on. Skylar took a deep breath as she walked towards her house, she hesitated for a bit but knocked on the door, she can hear footsteps and the door open with a woman in a nurse uniform. “Hello, may I help you” the nurse said. Sky was about to open her mouth, when she saw her mother coming out from the room. “Skylar” her mother said. “Hi mom” Skylar said. Her mother had tears in her eyes, Skylar walked into the house with her bags placing them down as she ran to her mother and gave her a hug, she felt so skinny as she held her mother a few tears slip from her eyes as she hugged her. “I told you not to come” her mother said. “I just thought it was time to come home” Skylar said. “Come, come. So, tell me” her mother said. Skylar chuckled out a bit as they went towards the living room as Skylar began telling her about the past five years that she has done since she had left home, they spent the whole morning to afternoon catching up till her mother felt sleepy, so she went to go lay down. Skylar went to her old room, there was boxes everywhere in the room Skylar sigh out and began picking up the boxes and moving them into the garage and now her room was empty no bed just an empty room. Skylar just place her bags in their and took out some shorts and crop top as she went out the back door and she can smell the Colorado river she walked towards the river and she can see some people in their boats as they road by. “Skylar?” Skylar heard a deep voice she turned and found a man in short cut a shirt walking towards her, he was wearing a pair of black glasses his hair was a bit messy, his build was not too muscular, but he had some on him. Skylar looked closely at him and it snap in her head as a memory came back to her in a quick flash of a boy running towards her in a over size shirt and pants skinny and big black glasses on. “Jacob Ackerman” Skylar said smiling at him. “Skylar Williams, wow. It’s been so long” Jacob said. Skylar stick her hands out as Jacob went for a hug, Skylar laughed as they gave each other a hug. “Why did you come back?” Jacob said. “This morning actually” Skylar said. “I saw your latest photos” Jacob said. “Yeah, that was what four months ago” Skylar said. “I heard about your mom, sorry. Is that why your back?” Jacob said. “That and other reasons” Skylar said. They were walking along side the river as they were talking. “I don’t see you other half” Jacob said. Skylar just gave him a small smile as she looked out towards the river, Jacob saw the pain in her eyes, and he was a bit confused, but he did not say anything. “So, what have you been up too” Skylar said. “Well, I’m actually a lawyer now. Actually, almost I have to take a bar exam so right now just assistant to a lawyer studying under him” Jacob said. “Wait isn’t it supposed to be seven years?” Skylar said. “You know me and my big brain, took extra classes so I can finish early” Jacob said. Skylar chuckled and nodded her head. “What about you didn’t you go to school while you were modeling?” Jacob asked. “Yeah, I did, debt free. Got my Art degree” Skylar said. “So, you actually became a painter” Jacob said. “That and others as well was a bit of a struggle, but I did it and the pay from modeling really helped” Skylar said. “Well, I have to see some of your work” Jacob said. “It won’t be here until another week, have to do a lot of cleaning but thinking of using my dad’s old shop and make it an art studio” Skylar said. “Well, if you need help, I stay at my parents place.” Jacob said. “I probably well, just hope my dad’s old truck is still running” Skylar said. “Well, let’s go see what we have to work with” Jacob said. Skylar nodded her head as they walked back towards Skylar’s home they got to the garage and it was a mess, Skylar looked for her father’s keys and found it hanging beside the door that goes into the house. “Here they are” Skylar said. “Alright, start her up” Jacob said. Skylar went to the old pick-up truck and started the truck; it turns on smoothly. “Needs gas” Skylar said. “Let’s head into town and we can take it to the shop just in case” Jacob said. “What happened to, I can do it” Skylar teased him. “Shut up get your shoes and purse” Jacob said. Skylar nodded her head went inside grab her stuff and told her mother she was going out with Jacob and have the truck check, Skylar let Jacob drive since she has not been home in a while. “Damn this place change so much” Skylar said. “Yeah” Jacob said “When did you come home?” Skylar asked. “About a year ago” Jacob said. “Oh, yeah where did you go to school at?” Skylar said. “Huston, I was hoping to get a job in Austin or San Antonio” Jacob said “But you need the experience, right?” Skylar said. “Yeah, pretty much but I can wait” Jacob said. “How are your parents?” Skylar asked. “Their good, Jake is a Junior this year now” Jacob said. “Oh gosh really wow time sure does fly” Skylar said. “Yes, it does so where have you been?” Jacob said. “All around but mostly in Malian Italy that’s where we got scouted from and every summer we’d go to these exotic islands and do swimsuit photos. It was fun had a great experience and then school started and became too much but I kept thinking ten more steps to your dream, so I kept going” Skylar said. “Well, you came home at the right time there are a lot of galleries in Texas now a days so it shouldn’t be hard for you to find a job or work with a gallery that’s willing to take your work” Jacob said. “Well have to wait until my work comes but for now clean-up” Skylar said. “Well now you have a truck to help, and Jake can help since he’s on summer break” Jacob said. “Yeah, I’ll ask him” Skylar said. They pull up to the gas station and Skylar filled up the tank, then they drove to an auto shop they were told to come back in an hour or two, so they walked around town. “Jacob!” Skylar and Jacob stop as they both turn, saw a built teenager coming up to them. “Jake” Jacob said “Oh my gosh this is little Jake” Skylar said “Skylar? Holy s**t” Jake said. Skylar chuckled, and gave him a hug. “Jeez you have gotten so tall, and handsome” Skylar said. “And you are even more beautiful than the magazine photos.” Jake said. “God” Skylar chuckled out. “When did you come back? And why are you hanging out with this nerd” Jake said. Skylar laughed, as Jacob punches his brother’s arm. “I came back this morning. Jacob here is showing me around again” Skylar said. “Nice” Jake said A few yards away some teen boys were yelling for Jake to come over. “Well nice seeing you again Skylar, hey tell mom I’ll be back late. Oh, and Skylar we still have BBQ on Sundays” Jake said “Okay, see you Jake” Skylar said Jake waved and ran off, as Skylar and Jacob went about their business an two hours later they went back to the shop and they were told they fixed up the engine and changed the oil, Skylar paid and they went towards the store as she bought some cleaning supplies. “Well, where should we start” Jacob said. “Trash?” Skylar said. “Right” Jacob said. They began clearing out the garage taking out all the trash and going through the boxes seeing which is trash and which is not when the truck was full, Jacob and her drove to the town dump site. On their way back Jacob got a call from his co-workers asking him out for drinks. “So, my co-workers asked me out for drinks want to join?” Jacob said. “Yeah, could use a beer after the day we had” Skylar said. “Okay pick you up at seven?” Jacob said. “Okay” Skylar said They parted ways when they got home Skylar went into the shower and changed into some fresh clothes and began cooking dinner with her mother. “How’s Jacob” her mother asked. “Good, was nice catching up with him and we saw Jake, he’s gotten so tall” Skylar said. “Yes, the Ackerman boys tall and handsome” her mother said. “I know, I’ll be going to get drink with Jacob later he’s going to introduce me to his friends” Skylar said. “That’s good, how long will you be staying?” her mother asked. “For good I want a quiet place to work on my art and can’t do that in New York” Skylar said “Are you sure?” her mother asked. “I’m sure besides the garage now has a lot of space after cleaning up, I just need to buy my welding equipment as well.” Skylar said. “Welding? I thought you were painting?” her mother asked. “I do both mom. Paint, welding, photo, and pottery” Skylar said. “And how much work do you have to do” her mother said. “A lot to set up and going to coast a lot as well.” Skylar said. “How much?” her mother asked. “I have enough money mom, but probably close to a million” Skylar said. “Well, there’s always your father’s life insurance money” her mother said. “No, it’s okay mom, I have been saving when I was modeling, and I have enough to send my future child to college” Skylar said. “Okay, but all I’m saying just in case” her mother said. “If I do need it, I will use it” Skylar said. “Okay” her mother said. They finished cooking their dinner, Skyler went back to her room and grab some clothes to wear she went with a summer dress a yellow one with thin straps since it was hot in Texas and put on some light make-up. Skylar then fixed her hair in waves and looked at the time was almost seven, so she grabs some heels a necklace and grab her purse as well as a light jacket just in case then she said goodbye to her mother. Skylar saw Jacob pulling out his driveway she walked across the fence and waited for him as he pulled up and got in the car. “You look nice” Skylar said. “So, do you” Jacob said. “Thanks” Skylar said Jacob drove to the bar and found a parking space as they got down form the car and made their way inside it was not to crowd, Jacob found some of his co-workers. “Hey guys, this is my friend and neighbor since we were kids Skylar. Skylar this is Johnathan, Mike, Ariel and Hannah. I’m assuming the others haven’t come yet” Jacob said. “Not yet” Jonathan said. “Skylar Williams, Miss June right” Mike said. “Yes” Skylar said. “Didn’t know you were a native to Texas” Mike said “Born and raised” Skylar said. “Well let’s have a round of shots” Johnathan said. A waitress came by and brought them some shots, they all cheers and took the shot. Skylar hissed out it has been a while since she drank so it was a bit strong for her then the beers came around as they sat down and ordered some appetizers. About an hour later Jacob’s other co-workers showed up and again he introduces Skylar to them, they took another shot, and more drinks were passed around then soon they went to another bar where you can sing and dance. “We have to sing” Hannah said. The three girls went up stage as they sang a few songs, Skylar was feeling the buzz they went back to their seats. “How did you get into the modeling business” Hannah asked. “During spring break in Huston my friend and I got scouted when we were at the beach, and by graduation we did a competition in New York then the rest was history” Skylar said. “What made you come back?” Anna said. “I am an artist, so I want to concentrate on that” Skylar said. “What kind of art?” Hannah said. “Welding, painting, photo, and pottery” Skylar said. “Well, when your set up. I would like to be your first client; I need something for my back yard that just says wow” Anna said. “I don’t know, I been selling my work for almost a million these past few months” Skylar said. “Shut up.” Anna said. Skylar chuckled, they did a few more rounds as Jacob went up to them. “Care for a dance Miss. Williams” Jacob said “Why yes Mr. Ackerman” Skylar said Jacob took Skylar’s hand as they walked to the dance floor and began dancing with each other. “Are you having fun” Jacob said. “Yes, I haven’t been out in quiet a while” Skylar said. “One hell of a welcome home party” Jacob said. “Yes, thank you for this” Skylar said. “Anytime now just need to get you drunk enough to tell me what’s really wrong with you” Jacob said. “Not drunk enough” Skylar said. Jacob chuckled, and they continued dancing and had a few more shots and drinks again soon Skylar was drunk so was Jacob. “See you guys next weekend?” Mike said. “Count me in” Skylar giggled. Jacob hailed a cab and gave them the address. “I really don’t want to go home” Skyler said. “Why?” Jacob said. “I have no bed” Skylar giggled. “How can you not have a bed?” Jacob said. “I forgot to buy one” Skylar said. Jacob laughed, Skylar got shy and slap his chest and started laughing too. “We can hang at the tree house” Jacob said. “No way it’s still up?” Skylar asked. “Of course, we redid it but still good condition” Jacob said. “I want to see” Skylar said. They got off the cab, Skylar took her heels off as they walked towards the tree house where they once use to play at, they climb up and Skylar gasp when she saw the decoration. “This is so crazy.” Skylar said. “Drink?” Jacob asked. “No way” Skylar said. Jacob went to the window seat and took out a bottle of vodka and took a drink and passed it to Skylar as she drank some and they talked some more. “Where’s the music” Skylar said. “Hold up” Jacob said. He began playing some music soon they both began dancing and sing to different music coming on. “I can’t believe it’s holding our weight” Skylar shouted. “You don’t need to yell I can hear you just fine” Jacob said. “What” Skylar yelled. “Never mind” Jacob yelled. “Okay” Skylar yelled back. They kept dancing and singing with each other, the bottle was almost empty soon they sat down. “You have any other kind?” Skylar asked. “Let me check” Jacob said. Jacob got up and went to check and pulled out a bottle of wine and brought it back and sat down opening it again as he took a drink and past it to Skylar. “You drunk now?” Jacob asked slurred out. “Yes, how about your” Skylar said slurred out. “I feel like I won’t remember anything in the morning or what were even talking about” Jacob said. “Okay, why do you have a girlfriend?” Skylar asked. “I am actually gay” Jacob said. “No way really like stone cold?” Skylar said. “Honestly, I don’t know, I never even told anybody before” Jacob said. “Not even your parents?” Skylar said. “Nope” Jacob said They began talking again and drinking more soon Skylar told him why she really came back but they were both black out by now that they did not even know what they were talking about or what they were evening doing. They did so much more then talk after they finished another bottle of wine the next moment their clothes were laying on the floor as their feet can be heard kicking the bottles making clicking sounds.
