Chapter Twelve

1489 Words
Renesmee’s P.O.V The next day, I saw my mom sitting on the couch, reading a book. I said, “Hey, mom.” “Hey, sweetie, how was your date last night?” My eyebrows rose. Mom’s pushing for me to date. “When did you want me to date?” I inquired. “I don’t. I want to know how it went. You are my daughter. I need to know,” Mom responded. “Well, it was amazing and different.” “What do you mean?” “Well, I’ve experienced nothing like this before, like being with Jacob. We don’t do stuff like that.” “Renesmee, he took you to a Christmas Party. Is it different from what Jacob does with you?” “Yes, Mason didn’t take me to a Christmas party. He took me to an actual party.” My mom seemed severe. She had worries. “Mason took you to a party?” she inquired. With a sorrowful gaze, I looked at my mom, feeling a pang of sadness. I said. “Yeah,” “You know you’re not allowed to go to one of those!” Mom yelled. “I know, and I even told him that, but he didn’t listen to me and talked me into it.” “So you did it anyway, behind my back?” “He went behind your back, not me.” “So, you didn’t know?” “Yep.” “Okay, good that you told me this because if you hadn’t, I would ground you.” “So, I’m not grounded?” “No, but I don’t want you hanging around that boy until I talk to your father. Then I bet your father will want to talk to Mason about this.” “Wait, you’re telling dad?” “Yes, I have to.” “Can you not and keep it to ourselves?” “No, Renesmee.” Dad opened the front door. His footsteps echoed in the house. He said, “Good morning, ladies.” I greeted my dad with a gloomy tone, saying, “Hey, dad.” Mom approached him, giving him lots of affectionate kisses. “Renesmee has something to tell you,” she mentioned. My dad looked at me with a severe face. He asked, “What’s wrong, Renesmee?” Dad shot me a furious glance, upset. “Renesmee, what were you thinking?” he questioned. “It wasn’t my idea. It was Mason’s,” “Well, I don’t want you talking or going near this boy again.” “Dad.” “I don’t want you with someone who betrayed us, Renesmee.” “But, dad, what if you talk to him?” Dad hesitated before saying, “Alright, but I need to talk to him before he visits you again.” “Alright,” I said. “Well, run along to your room.” I got up and sprinted to my bedroom. Jacob’s P.O.V I visited Edward and Bella’s house to see Renesmee. I’d worried about her all night, thinking Mason would harm her. I arrived at their cute cottage and hurried towards the front door of their comfortable home. I knocked on the door, and Bella answered. “Is she okay?” I asked. Bella’s eyes widened, surprised to see me. “She... she’s fine; why?” she asked. I passed her through the door, not responding. I rushed to Renesmee’s door, which was open, and walked in to see Renesmee lying on her bed, watching something. She appeared happy. Did the date go well? I knocked on her door. Renesmee looked at me and said, “Oh hey, Jacob.” I walked over to the side of her bed and sat beside her. “Hey, Nessie. How was the date?” I asked. “It’s good... but...” “But.. what?” “I told my mom about my date and that Mason didn’t take me to a Christmas party but an actual party,” I made an angry face. I asked, “What do you mean, an actual party?” The bloodsucker took her to a party where drunk guys would rape her. How could he? I could feel my blood boil. “Nessie, please tell me he didn’t take you to a party?” I pleaded. Renesmee glanced at me and confirmed, “He did.” “Why did you let him?” “I didn’t want to, but then he talked me into it.” “How did he talk you into it?” “He said I needed to have fun.” “Oh, you did it because you wanted fun. You wanted to get wasted like those drunken girls.” “I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to have fun since I’m always stuck in this house, and we didn’t drink.” “Then what did you do?” “We had punch and nothing else.” “What did you guys do, then?” “We went out for ice cream, and then he took me home.” “That’s all?” “Yes,” I sighed and asked,” What now? Are you going out with Mason again?” “I don’t know. My dad found out by reading my opinion, and now he doesn’t want me near him again until he talks to him. What sucks is that he doesn’t trust him?” Renesmee responded. “I wouldn’t trust him, either.” “Oh, so now you’re taking their side?” “No, I’m not choosing a side or supporting anyone. Mason is just not a trustworthy guy to date.” Renesmee stared at me. She said, “I’m sorry you feel that way, but I like him now.” “What? Please tell me you haven’t kissed him yet?” I saw her not saying anything. This confirmed that she was telling the truth. I asked her, “Did you kiss Mason? Did you kiss that guy?” A wave of disgust washed over me. I cannot believe Renesmee kissed that bloodsucker. As I walked back and forth in her bedroom, I tried to keep myself under control. It angered my wolf, knowing my imprintee’s lips were on someone else’s. It made me and my wolf want to rip the guy’s head off. Renesmee came right up to my face. I could feel her breath on my skin. She stated, “Yes, it’s mind-blowing.” I looked at Renesmee with disgust. “I don’t need all the details, Nessie,” I told her. Edward and Bella walked in, looking at us with curiosity. “What’s happening here?” Mom inquired. I had to tell them. I said, “Renesmee kissed Mason.” “Jacob!” Renesmee yelled. Bella had a bug-eye look, and Edward looked furious. “He kissed you on the first date?” Edward’s curiosity burned like a wildfire, consuming his thoughts. “Yeah, but he kissed me first,” Renesmee responded. “That’s it. I don’t want you seeing Mason until I have that conversation with him.” “Dad, but...” “No buts, Renesmee, come on, honey, let’s go.” Their footsteps faded, leaving only Renesmee and me in the bedroom. Renesmee’s voice cracked. She showed her vulnerability. She asked, “Jacob, how could you?” I felt guilty when I saw Renesmee crying. I said, “I’m sorry, Nessie.” “No, get out. I don’t need your apologies. The best you can do is to leave me alone.” I walked to the door, feeling guilty, then left. Mason’s P.O.V I wanted more time with Renesmee. I was curious about her life as a half-human vampire. I wanted to learn more about her, nothing else. She was sweet and down to earth, and that’s what I liked about her. About to leave, my adoptive mom’s worried call made me turn back. Annoyed, I asked, “What, mom?” My mom crossed her arms and looked at me. She asked, “Where are you going?” “I am going to see Renesmee,” “That’s great. Are you getting there yet?” “Yes, I’m getting there. We have kissed.” “That’s great too. Make Renesmee love you, so she’ll go to Italy with us.” “Mom, this isn’t a good idea anymore. I like her now, and I don’t want to turn her into the Volturi and dump her.” “You have to. You must obey the Volturi, or we will face consequences and cannot return home.” “We deserve that.” “Son, we can’t back down now. We already got this far.” My mom was right. I want to finish and leave. “I’ll do it, but to get us home,” I said. “Okay,” Mom said. My mom hugged me, and then I headed out the door.
