Chapter Six Gray’s recovery took some time. At first, he could barely stay awake for more than ten minutes. He spent three days weaving in and out of sleep, having vivid dreams about Kristie. By the end of the first week, he was able to sit up, but walking was too much for him. He had to use a wheelchair, which drove him crazy. Visitors were non-existent. He had requested not to have them. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to see Kristie. He did. More than anything he wanted to see her. But he felt that he wasn’t ready to see her yet. When he saw her again, he was going to tell her that he had been lying about not wanting her. That he needed her more than anything. And telling her while he was bruised and battered in a hospital bed wasn’t his perfect idea of expressing it. Gray also didn’t
