Chapter six

~Stephan~ I was sat in the kitchen, having a snack as we would be setting off to the full moon pack before dinner and I needed my strength, as my sleep was haunted by dreams of Kiara. I took a bite of my sandwich as Zad's beta came in and almost ripped the door off the fridge. "Easy." I growled, not wanting to have to replace the appliance. He glared at me whilst chugging down a bottle of water. "What's wrong with you?" He was about to answer when Kiara ran in, looking like she had just taken a savage beating. "Ignatius!" she growled before storming over to him, instead of looking at her with the lust I had been yesterday, he looked at her with anger. "What?" "We need to talk." she gritted out shifting her eyes around the room that had a smattering of warriors stood around doing the same as I was. She grabbed his hand and started to pull him towards the door when he pulled back. "No, it's not right!" he huffed as he pointed an accusatory finger at her. "You should not be able to do that!" "Ignatius!" she growled, warningly. "What's going on?" Zad asked as he walked in, looking puzzled between his beta and Kiara. "Kiara here has a secret." "Ignatius don't do this." she asked pleadingly. "No Kiara, if you have no standing then there is no way you would be able to command my wolf. You lied to the Alpha!" "I didn't lie." she growled before her face scrunched up like she had just taken a blow. "You can command my Beta?" Zad asked from behind her. "No." Kiara said at the same time as Ignatius answered "Yes." "Well which is it?" I asked, shooting to my feet and joining the conversation. We all knew the implications, and if this was true then Kiara was more powerful than we first thought. As I approached the trio, my eyes focused on Kiara. "Kiara did you command Ignatius's wolf?" I commanded, knowing that she would not be able to lie then. "Yes." she whispered out as her face turned sad and her eyes closed. "Show me." Zad commanded. She tried to resist, as her eyes welled. "Ignatius Shift." she commanded. Within seconds, Ignatius's clothes were in shreds on the floor and his wolf stood in his place. My wolf growled in delight at the scene, as Kiara stormed past Zad back into the main pack house area. Me and Zad chased after her." So you lied." Zad accused. "I didn't lie." she gritted out. "You cannot have no standing and have a wolf that strong." I pointed out. "I did not lie!" she whirled on us, looking at both of us as her chest rose and fell with her anger. "Command me to tell the truth if you don't believe me!" "What is your standing?" I commanded without hesitation. "I have no standing." she responded with a smirk before running off to the dorm room. I was about to chase after her when father mind linked me and Zad. We both looked to each other, disgruntled, before we headed to his office. As we walked in, father was looking out his window with yet another drink in his hand. "Are you ready to depart soon?" "Yes alpha." I replied. "Good. Remember we need at least three high ranking females so that there is better rest amongst the pack." I bit my tongue, not wanting to tell father of the revelation we just made. His wolf obviously sensed our withholding of information, because he turned his gaze to us and turned on his alpha powers." What are you hiding?" I gritted my teeth, not wanting to tell him in case he changed his mind and gave her to Zad now. "Kiara can command Ignatius." Zad blurted out, obviously unable to withstand his command as well as I could. I could not help but notice the light that came on in fathers eyes before he managed to compose himself. "That does not mean she will be the most suited for either of you. We will test her when Seb is back as he is far stronger than Ignatius or Eben." he turned back to the window. "I will see you when you return." he said in a cold tone and me and Zad took our leave. As we entered the entry hall, the warriors, Eben and Ignatius were all ready to go. Me and Zad walked to the front to lead the men out into the crisp evening, we did not bother setting up camp this time as we would just use the information gathered by Sebastian, my father's beta and the gammas. No one spoke as we used our speed to head make the journey to full moon pack territory. My mind kept going back to Kiara, a part of me desperate to find a high ranking, more malleable potential mate, and another hoping that I didn't so that she could be mine and one alone. She had obviously been training again today, was she trying to become even more appealing? Or was there another reason behind it? ~Zadock~ My wolf was reeling. Why did Ignatius announce his findings in front of half the f*****g pack? He was my Beta, he should have told me alone. I saw how Stephan's eyes darkened when he found out the news, looking at her even more lustfully than before. She was ours, not his, how dare he look at my mate in such a way. We needed to find an alpha female in this pack that was unmated, I know I had acted wrong last night but it was inevitable that I would get to claim Kiara, she just needed time to adjust to the situation. I made a promise to my wolf that when we got back I would spend time with her, let her get to know me more and get to know her in return. We finally made it to the full moon pack, going to the spot of ingress that the gammas suggested in their report. As expected there were no guards on this part of the perimeter meaning that we got in completely unnoticed. "Keep the alpha alive to point out the strong females in the pack, kill the rest of the males." Stephan ordered to us all through the mind link. We managed to take the first set of warriors by surprise, slitting their throats without a sound. When our presence was detected, some of the warriors shifted to their wolf forms and started to disperse along the perimeter, taking out any staggered patrols and warriors left, whilst we went for the pack house. They had a few warriors left in the house but they were no match for us. We were all drenched in blood as we made our way upstairs. There we found the alpha and his mate. Eben made quick work of slitting the females throat as the alpha howled in pain, he went to lunge for him when I grabbed him and pinned him to the wall. "Not yet alpha. We need your help." "Why would I help you?" the alpha half growled half sobbed. "Where are the females?" I commanded. "The basement." he sighed. I signalled for my men to retrieve them as I dragged the alpha out to the front of the house. It wasn't long until ten females were brought out. Stephan's eyes skimmed the women as he approached a pretty blonde who was wearing a silky night dress. "What is your status?" he asks as he runs his hand through her hair. "Future alpha female, or Luna." She said, batting her lashes. "Adriel." the alpha growled. "What father? You have been beaten here, I need to think about my future now." she growled. "And who here are the next two high ranking wolves?" Stephan asked. "That would be Claudia, future beta and Sophie, future gamma." Adriel offered up freely, pointing out the two wolves she addressed. One was another blonde and the other a brunette, again, they did not look scared in the slightest. My wolf was not impressed by her betrayal of her pack, but he was happy at how Stephan was sniffing around her. "Is she telling the truth?" I commanded the alpha. "Yes." he sighed. "Good." I said as I slit his throat and let his lifeless body fall to the floor. "Grab those three, and let's go." Stephan ordered. Adriel wrapped her hand around Stephan's arm. "No need to grab, we will come freely." Stephan nodded and then turned to Eben. "Get the warriors to kill the rest." Within the blink of an eye seven of the females fell to the floor dead whilst the other three followed us back into the woods. These three could never be trusted, as happy as I was that Kiara seemed to be the last thing on Stephan's mind, this Adriel would make an awful alpha female. She didn't give a s**t about the others of her pack and instead cared only for herself. We ran under the light of the moon back to our territory, where I had high hopes that Father would see fit to give Kiara to me. ~Ralpheal~ The pack house was quiet, with most of the warriors out watching the border or decimating the full moon pack. I took the opportunity to go to the library, my favourite place. As alpha, I did not get a chance to visit it often, but I promised myself a little me time before dinner. As I walked in I caught her scent, she was here. My library was an impressive collection, newly added to by some books from the winter moon pack that I sent people back to collect, with plans to do the same with the full moon pack. The written word was important to me, it called to me. Knowledge, power, secrets, fantasy, history, reality. All of it was held within these walls, it was something my sons had not yet learned, but they would have to if my pack was to stay strong once they took over. The walls were two stories high, lined with bookshelves whilst there were also rows of bookcases that filled the majority of the space. Small ready nooks were hidden throughout where people could read in privacy. I swiftly moved through the stacks, careful not to alert her to my presence. Her scent was strong but I could not find her anywhere. Where could she be? I groaned in frustration and that is when I heard a small creak, I followed the noise but still could not find its source. "Alpha?" her voice rang from above me. I looked up to see her perched on the windowsill of a high window watching over me. She gracefully climbed down the shelves and landed in front of me, her feline like movement captivating me. "Eben showed me the library yesterday when he gave me a tour. I am sorry if I am not supposed to be in here." she quickly added. "Nothing like that Kiara." I said as I reached out and pushed her hair behind her ear. Her face was bruised again, but healing. "Have you been sparring with Jackson again?" I asked, trying to keep control of my anger thinking of that warriors hands on her. "Ignatius." she corrected as she looked down in defeat. "Anyway I do not wish to disturb you." She turned to put the book she held back in a shelf when I slid up behind her, pressing my hardening c**k into the small of her back. "You are not disturbing me." I whispered into her ear. "Well, I have to go and get ready for dinner anyway." she shrugged as she turned to try and get past me but I blocked her path. "I heard that you were able to command Ignatius." I state as I lean closer to her. "That is no small feat for a wolf of no standing." She looked at me with anger as her shoulders squared up. "It means nothing." she said in a harsh whisper. "I disagree, it means a lot." I lean in closer and pick up the book she had just been reading. "Wolf pack laws." I laugh at the title. "You really think this will help you to have a better understanding of the situation here." I return the book to the shelf. "I am sure you must have realized by now that we are not constricted by these laws anymore. I make the rues here and my wolves obey." I laced my hand possessively on her side. "All my wolves." I growl against her ear. "I am not one of your wolves. I am not part of this pack." she stated as she tried to move away from me but only ended up hitting the bookshelf. "We have our own rules though, don't we Kiara? You do as I ask and I don't kill Lucy or Evelyn." I saw her bristle at my words but when I stepped closer to her again she did not shrink away, instead staring directly into my eyes without fear. "You are very beautiful, even if you do insist on torturing this delectable body of yours." my hands skimmed down her body, feeling for the first time her curves. How I wished I could squeeze her breasts that were so close to my skin, but I knew that was going too far, this time. " I do have to get ready for dinner alpha. " she said through gritted teeth, not falling for my charms at all. I stepped slightly to the side and she barged past me. "Oh two more things Kiara." I called out as she was about to leave the room. She stopped but did not look back at me. "Feel free to come in here anytime you wish, but I do ask that you only borrow one book at a time. I like to know where the thing that are mine are." my eyes travelled over her as I said the word mine, fully intending that to become a reality. "And do not forget to wear the dress I had sent to your room for dinner." her body went rigid but she did not utter a word as she continued out of the room.
