Chapter one
~Kiara~
"Kiara don't." Evelyn said as she tried to grab hold of my arm.
"I'm only going to watch the instruction and then I will be right back. It is not fair that they train the males and leave us females to fend for ourselves. I am just going to be up there, now keep a look out will you." I started to climb the tall tree that over looked the training area. I had been doing this for as long as I could remember but today, I was paired with Evelyn on my daily tasks. I was not going to miss out just because she was too scared of getting caught. Our pack had banned females from being able to train, preferring us meek and mild. Well I was not going to stand for it and neither was my wolf.
I got to the canopy just in time to see the instructor show the moves for today's combat exercise. I watched as the instructor demonstrated several moves before getting the warriors to pair up and practice. I continued to watch, ensuring that the moves are committed to memory before I descend back to the ground. Evelyn was pacing back and forth nervously, I landed beside her making her jump half a foot in the air. I chuckled as I pick up my basket and start to walk back to the pack house, Evelyn running behind me. "You know you can get in trouble for doing that."
"Yeah, but if the pack was under attack I want to be able to help defend it. You really think they would care that I watched a few training sessions if I helped to defend our territory?" Evelyn just sighed and stopped trying to push the topic. She wouldn't understand, she was a sweet girl that I had been paired with a few times, usually shaking her before I went to my perch. But today she was harder to get rid of and so she had had to be brought in on my little secret. Her wolf was as meek as she was, as were a lot of females here. It made me sad that they were so accepting of the status quo.
We walked into the kitchen and dispatched of our cargo into the relevant baskets, done with our daily work. I slipped back out to the woods at the edge of the territory, where I knew that the patrols were thin and practiced the combat moves used today.
Suddenly I heard a twig snap on the outside of the border. My wolf growled in my head that danger was coming. I quickly dispatched of my clothes and allowed my wolf to break free. Just as three wolves came into view, I let out a mighty howl to alert the patrols. The three wolves moved closer, growling their displeasure of my actions. My wolf just huffed in return, after all, what were they expecting.
One wolf lunged at me, trying to catch me off guard, but I was quicker. I jumped out of the way and slashed my claws out in retaliation, slicing down his face. The wolf yelped in pain as I jumped on him again, biting into his side. He rolled and dislodged me, sending me rolling to the feet of two patrols. The two wolves still over the border bolted for the trees, the third trying to follow but was stopped by the hands of one of the patrols. He shifted back revealing a naked man, ripped with muscles, bleeding from his face and side. "Shift!" the other patrol commanded me.
My wolf snarled, not wanting to comply. I slowly walked to the trees and shifted in the privacy of the bushes. Grabbing my clothes, I redressed quickly before coming out. "Kiara! What do you think you are doing out here? You know you are not allowed near the border unaccompanied." the one who held the intruder pointed out.
"No shit." I said as I tried to walk past them. The other patrol grabbed my arm to stop me.
"What were you doing out here alone?"
"Walking."
"You should not walk this far away from the pack house unescorted."
I laughed a hollow laugh as I shrugged him off me. "Yeah, because that is going to happen. You know as well as I do that I would not be able to come here if I had to beg a pack member to come with me."
"A male should be with you!" he growled.
"Because us females can't defend ourselves, can we?" I said eyeing the man who was staring at me from the clutches of my pack mate. "Or is it just because it is me?"
"Just stay near the pack house with the others."
My wolf growled, vibrating up my own throat and causing the patrols to look at each other worriedly. I had to suppress her before I got in any more trouble. I turned and headed back to the pack house, hearing the two males, dragging the third with them behind me. As we got close to the pack house, the beta stepped forward. "What do we have here?"
"Intruder sir." one of the petrol said.
The beta stepped forward and sniffed the captive wolf. "He is not a rogue. Take him to the hold, we will find out what he is doing on our land. Good work detaining him."
"Thank you sir." they said in unison, carting off my prize. I grumbled to myself, annoyed at them taking the credit for my capture. I walked through to the mess and grabbed a quick bite before heading to the dorm. The pack had a dorm set up for the unmated female wolves so that they were 'protected'. Every time I walked in here it made my wolf bristle. I did not need protecting, especially by these idiots. I went to my bunk and closed my eyes allowing sleep to take me.
I woke with a start, the sound of growls and howls coming from outside the dorm. The others shot up as the sounds grew closer. "Get to the far side of the room." I shouted to the others, who did not waste time taking up sanctuary. I fell into my fighting stance and waited as the sound of fighting grew louder outside.
~Stephan~
My i***t brother allowed himself to be bested by a f*****g she wolf. We had been scouting, planning our attack, when she heard us. She was a beautiful creature, long flowing red hair and piercing green eyes, stood practicing a fighting technique near the border. We had been careful at first, watching from afar, shocked as the Winter Moon pack was known for not letting females fight, when Zadock wanted to get a closer look.
He broke a trig and that was enough to get the little she wolfs attention. She quickly shed her clothes to my delight, showing off her full breasts and luscious curves, before she shifted. Her wolf was impressive, a vibrant red like her hair, muscular. She howled for reinforcement and Zad lost it, tried to jump on her and pin her down but she slashed down his face and took a chunk out of him. When back up came we knew we had to get out of there.
I got back to where our pack was camped, waiting for nightfall. Me and my beta Eben shifted back. "What are we going to do alpha?" he asked as we walked back to my tent.
"We will get him back during the attack tonight. The fool." I growled. I went into my tent and changed into my clothes ready for the ambush. When I walked back out I saw the pack all ready and raring to go. "Tonight, we will destroy the winter moon pack." there was a loud cry of joy and excitement. "We will take back Zadock from their clutches and lay waste to their warriors."
"What about their woman!" one of the warriors shouted.
A sly smirk spread across my face at the thought of the feisty redhead. "We will take the strongest back to our pack, where they can become mates of the best warriors from this battle." The crowed howled their eagerness. I was not about to stake my claim just yet, as if the calibre of females had been under exaggerated, maybe the other women would be even more appealing.
With that we set off through the trees towards winter moon territory, some in their wolf form, others in human form. Their patrols were lax and easy to avoid as we spring our attack. We make quick work of slicing through our enemy, tearing out their throats and spilling their guts. Soon enough, their dying howls alerted the others and we were ripping through the warriors who stirred from their slumber.
We made it to the pack house with little fight. "I will go to the basement, Eben, be sure to clear this pace out." he nodded his agreement as he ran up the stairs whilst I headed to find Zad.
I made quick work of the guards, taking their keys and looked in each of the cells. "Stephan!" Zad shouted as I glanced in his cell, using the keys it open it. "Where is the she wolf!" he growled.
"We have not found any yet." I explain as I unlock his silver cuffs, careful not to touch the metal.
"She is mine." he growls, with lust instead of anger.
"We will see brother. You know our ways, and my wolf is not willing to give her up without a fight." he growled his displeasure but nodded, at least I was not claiming her outright.
Once free we made our way back up and out of the pack house. Eben had the pitiful excuse for an alpha on his knees." Where are the females? "he growled, landing a punch to the alphas jaw.
I stepped forward and kneeled down to his eye level." Where are the females? "I commanded.
The alpha shook as he tried to fight my command before he answered." The dorm. "he hung his head, panting.
I looked around to see a barn like building in the distance." Is that the dorm? " I said pointing to the structure. His head nodded and then my hands grabbed it and twisted, snapping his neck.
As one, me and my men approached the dorm, killing the few guards and warriors remaining with little effort. When we threw open the door it was a pitiful sight, thirty or so females cowering behind one. It was her, the spitfire redhead. "You are not taking them!" she yelled as she stepped forward, not caring that she was vastly outnumbered.
Zad stepped forward, his chest vibrating with a predatory growl. "She is mine." he announced.
"I am no mans." she spat back before falling back into her fighting stance. Zad and Eben stepped forward, ready to attack. "I'll make it quick." she said with a smile, not faltering in the slightest at being out matched.
Eben made the first move, trying to grab the girl. She just slipped his grip, slamming the palm of her hand into his nose before kicking him in the family jewels." f**k. "he grunted as he fell to his knees.
Zad was next again trying to just get hold of the ninja. She delivered a blow to his central plexus, before hitting him in the throat and kneeling him in the face." Who's next?" the red head growled, not even having broken a sweat. As one the others leapt into action. She dodged the first few blows before one hit her in the side, I watched as she grit her teeth and pushed on through taking out another one of my warriors before she took a blow to the head. She stumbled slightly but carried on fighting. Zad got back to his feet and joined the fray, managing to swipe the she wolfs legs from under her before delivering another blow to her head, knocking her out cold.
He growled possessively over her body. "Enough." I ordered, stepping through the crowed and gathering the girls limp body in my arms. "We will sort this out back at the pack. Secure the strongest of the others." I ordered. My men wasted no time easily subduing two females, them not even putting up a fight, before slaughtering the rest. It was disappointing to say the least, not a single fighter amongst them. All so meek and placid, I could tell my warriors were also disgruntled. They would make mates for the lower male wolves in the pack but they would not be able to withstand a mating with a warrior. Unlike the lovely creature in my arms. "Burn it to the ground." I ordered as I walked off back towards our camp.
"Brother, it is my turn to carry her." Zad growled as he walked beside me.
"And why would I give her to you. You were foolish enough to be captured!"
"Because I am an alpha as well and father will not let you take her so easily from me." I growled at myself. I had said that we would use our ways to determine who would be her mate, but that was when I thought she was one fighter amongst many, not the only wolf in a pack of sheep. Our ways demanded that the leading alpha, our father, would determine who the females mated to. "And besides I let myself be captured."
"Really?" I said sceptically.
"I was not letting her out of my sight. I was not expecting that those lazy ass patrols would take the credit and throw me in silver chains. The rumours were right, the winter moon pack did not train their women, they hardly trained their men. Now, if you don't mind. " Zad stood in front of me blocking my path. I growled, my wolf pushing to keep our prize, but I knew there would be hell to pay if Zad said I went back on my word, so I reluctantly handed the girl to him.
