CHAPTER V

714 Words
"Of course I won't. No", was Nathan's immediate response. "Why not? Think about it, we could prove that magic really exists and graduate from this school as experts in occult issues. Wouldn't you love it? We would be famous, people would talk about us, we'd be on the news, on TV, in the history books of the next generations. We could solve so many problems around the world and be heroes", I tried to convince him as I pictured the stage. Upon hearing my comment, he quickly rose from the table to get to where I was. "You can't expose Mitoja. You just can't", his words seemed very serious and made me believe that maybe I should worry. "Mitoja's revelation to the real world is punished. If someone exposes the city or what's going on inside, he or she should die, so if I were you, I wouldn't even think about it." His words gave me the creeps. I felt his comment as a death threat and the tone in which he told me scared me even more. I could feel a strange vibe. It was my sixth sense out there telling me something was wrong and that I should stay away from Nathan. It was a feeling totally contrary to that what felt a few minutes ago when I made eye contact with him, the peace and calm that the green color of his eyes made me feel was no longer there. So that's when on impulse and without even realizing it, I took his hand. As soon as his skin made contact with mine, I felt as if an electric shock picked up my whole body, from head to toe. It was as Line a light ray slowly descended from my head. A light so white and bright that almost leaves me blind. Suddenly I felt how Nathan abruptly pushed me away from him, causing me to fall to the ground. The people in the cafeteria watched us strangely, but apparently, they thought Nathan and I only had a silly discussion of classmates. "Don't ever touch me like that again, Adara", he said. But it was not necessary to touch him again, because I already knew what I needed to know. "You are not human, " I declared. I actually said it more to myself than to him. The energy and light that went through my body were certainly inhumane. I knew it because I had had that feeling before, when I was five hasta old. The first time I visited Mitoja. "You're not human. You come from Mitoja". Nathan looked at me totally surprised. His eyes were too open just like his mouth. After a few seconds he looked down at the ground, as he tried to hide the shame that engulfed his pale face. He took me slightly on my arm so I could get close to his body and started talking without looking at me.  "Please keep your voice down", he mused, "I'm just a guy like you, interested in magic and Mitoja. I study at this school for a reason, don't you think so?" " I had never seen your face at this school before, and I can memorize the faces of all the people who cross my path. Besides, my sixth sense never fails. You're not human, Nathan. Don't try to fool me." "Of course I am. I'm human, I even have my ID here with me", he defended himself as he pulled his wallet out of the bag of his ripped jeans and showed me his ID. He put it in front of my face and I took it so I could see it better. Nathan Miller. 1996 Mount Ray University student. It seemed very real. Too real. Still, something was not right. "It's impossible for you to be an ordinary human. I know what I saw and I know what I  felt. You're not an ordinary college student." He let out a little sigh , as he were desperate or perhaps annoyed by the situation while his eyes didn't turn away from me. "I never said I was an ordinary boy," he said, while keeping his ID again. "Then what are you?" I said a little louder, trying to look brave. "I'm your savior, Adara".
