Chapter 18: The Rouge Retaliate

1416 Words
Ben’s POV “Ben!” Edward warned me but I ignored. Running towards Damien and squatting to the ground, I rose my hands to bring them upto the cheeks of the kid. The kid stepped back and hid behind Damien who sat down and gestured her ‘No’. She looked so much like Tasha. When she stared into my eyes with so much innocence; my heart clenched. She was beautiful dressed in a pink skirt with pink clips in her short hairs. Her blue top going well with her LED blue shoes makes me want to squash her cheeks. I wanted to touch her. Hesitatingly, I touched her cheek and f**k! She was real. She was for real! I know she was Tasha. There wasn’t any proof needed because that energy I feel around her familiar. “Is… she Tasha?” I asked to no one in particular. “Hi, I am Tasha.” She said in her angelic voice and smiled with purity that made me cry. I didn’t care how stupid I appeared right now because I’ve kept my emotions bottled up for so long that it needed a release. She was here and I can’t believe it. “Ben… She is our Tasha.” Damien spoke gently and I nodded. “I know… I-I knew from the first sight that she is our Tasha. She is finally back.” I smiled through my teary eyes and let it go until I felt my chest light. It was still hard to breathe through chocked throat but it felt good. She hugged me and wiped my tears gently cooing me not to cry. She was the best thing and even more when she is a child. No wonder why people love her so much. She is the loveliest thing! Leina and Katie were already crying mess, I guess it was too much for them to handle. They were ecstatic to reunite like me. It was the best moment of our lives and I can bet that. I admired her for sometime but my smile faded afterwards. She is back here. She shouldn’t have… this shouldn’t have happened. I turned around seeing them mingling together as they laughed and cried around her. They played with her while she munched on her fav salad. I hope this doesn’t end like the last time because… the rouge will retaliate again to claim Salvos. *** Damien’s POV As others were entertained with Tasha, my eyes fell on Ben who seemed to have lost his face color. Something about him said he wasn’t okay. “Ben?” I called but he stayed sitting on the chair staring blankly in the air. “Ben…” I shook him and he jerked as I stifled my laugh. “You were day-dreaming.” I pointed it out as he formed his mouth in a ‘O’. “Damien, how did you find her?” He asked and I smiled to myself. I narrated him everything and saw him clench his jaw. “It would’ve been better if you let them stay there…” He seethed at me taking me aback. “Are you insane?” I stared at him disbelief. “What makes you think that I am going to repeat my mistake again?” I glared at him. “I promised her to find her and so, I just fulfilled it. Stop being jealous.” I said in annoyance. If he thinks he can separate us then he was wrong. She was mine back then and will always be. “Why don’t you get it? She isn't safe here.” He sighed in exhaustion and my lips tightened. “How?” I asked gravely watching my baby girl running after Leina who had a bowl of ice-cream in her hand. “They are back…” his words knocked air out of me. “They? Who they?” Of course he is mistaken. We saw Sarah dying right in front of our eyes then who are these ‘they’ he mentioned here that could cause harm to her. “The Rouge. They are back with another army and someone from the kingdom is betraying.” He said in hushed voice as my eyebrows rose. “That’s impossible. Almost half of their population was wiped.” I countered him. “Oh you were lost in your own world not to have known this but the rouge has manipulated some werewolves, witches and dhampirs. They are already planning to kill the Master and now you have messed up everything by bringing her here.” He closed his eyes in frustration while mine were wide as saucers. Unable to process anything I just stared at my fingers. What have I done? If this was truly the case then have I really messed up? “I will take her along with me back.” I declared when he let go a hollow laugh. “It doesn’t matter anymore. She has a peculiar scent that doesn’t leave whatever you do. Her scent is too strong even if you mask it.” He said distressed and my mouth went dry. He was damned right about it. I have first-hand experience of this. Her scent’s whiff is enough to drive someone crazy. “What can we do now? I don’t think it is too late.” I reminded him because she hasn’t been anywhere. “It is actually. They are alert and her powers are connected to this place. The more she is here, the more power she’d generate which releases energy that can be seen as an energy source from few miles.” He said and I stiffened. “I know how it works. Every person has a different energy source and they must have sensed her.” I said anxiously watching back at the girl who was now laughing so hard riding piggy back on Edward. “You got it… So Mr. Williams… you eventually f****d up!” He muttered and my heart beat wildly. “No… I don’t think so. This time, I won’t f**k up.” I convinced myself more than him. I surely cannot become the reason of her misery again. That would kill me for sure. This time would be different and I promised myself about it. I will help protect her at any cost. *** It’s been a week since Ben told me that and I made up my mind to discuss it with others. If it is regarding Werewolves and Witches; surely Leina can help some way or the other. I think we would need some help from them. Katie and Leina can teach us some necessary magic. This morning, I woke up only to find my baby girl giggling near my ear. Did I tell you that we are sleeping together? I don’t let her sleep elsewhere because having her near to me comforts me and can feel asleep soundly like her. A smile appeared on my face hearing her giggles as I mumbled sleepily. “Good morning sweetie.” Opening my eyes I saw her blush and my eyebrows scrunched. She looked taller than last night. Hell, she even looked grown somewhat two or three years I ain't sure about that. Her chubby cheeks that seemed to hide something behind them have shrunk a bit and her face appeared more attractive. “Hey…” I nuzzled her cheek while they stained to pink and I laughed at the fact that she was blushing. “G-good morning Damien.” She hesitatingly kissed my cheek and ran off the bed. I was left behind stunned. What is wrong with her? She was acting differently. After showering and getting ready, I walked downstairs as Edward has entertained her with other things like answering her curious questions about the whole universe. It amazes me how he handles everything. He is really amazing man and I pray my friend gets a woman he deserves. “Aren’t you already growing? Three months and you’ll already by twelve.” Edward said proudly and I chocked on my drink. “Really?” I asked and saw her stealing glances at me. “Yes. She is nine now.” He said with amusement and I stared at her disbelief. “She’s growing abnormally but her body would stop after she has attained an age of 24 or 25… Ain't sure about that.” He shrugged tapping a finger on his cheek. “That’s… new.” I mumbled munching on my toast. “Well, I’ve got to find a vampire school for her but ain't sure if that would be the best choice.” He said thoroughly confused while my heart beat in anticipation. “Why?” I asked him. “She’s a danger to all and I don’t want her to hurt someone and regret later.” Edward smiled weakly at her while her lips turned upside down showing how upset she was. “I think we shouldn’t as she isn't a vampire fully that can put her in dangerous situation inside the school also; we are aware how bully, new and young vampire can be.” I reasoned hoping he would drop that idea. “Hmmm… I guess you’re right.” He sighed and I should feel sad about it knowing my girl was upset but instead; I was happy. No roaming around Vampires and no fear from the traitors.
