Chapter 19: Yuri's Arrival

1432 Words
Damien’s POV I was reluctant to leave my girl behind and go to work knowing Edward has already left to check on his and hers businesses. That leaves me alone. As I struggled taking her along with me or leaving her behind, my phone buzzed and it was Phil. “Oh doctor! Finally decided to call, uh? If your sweet time with Emma is over; please send her to my place.” I muttered and he laughed at the other end. “Dude, I am not a desperate clingy man. She is living with Ross and didn’t had a clue of what to do next as Edward left early. So, I called just to ask you what your plan was but I got it. I’ll drop her at your place first and leave for my work later.” He sounded in a good mood and I know why. “Thanks.” I said and hung up. She’s been shying away every time I am near and I don’t know whether to laugh or huff but she is adorable. I saw her painting keenly with her bed-hair and it made me smile. Her tongue was out on her lip while she busied striking colors here and there; removing invisible dirt off it and then admiring it before continuing with the colors again. “Hey!” I said and she quickly hid her painting. “What? Don’t you want to show it to me?” I asked faking disappointment and she shook her head. “Why?” I was genuinely surprised. “Because… it… I am not a great artist.” She said and I laughed. Her eyebrows rose and she sighed. “Told you!” She said and turned but I refuted. “That wasn’t what I meant. I laughed because you can’t judge that. It will be me who would let you know.” I said and she fiddled with her fingers. “Better if it is Edward.” She said and my smile faltered. “Common! You’re hurting me my little queen.” I said and she blushed.    Taking the advantage of the situation; I leaped forward and caged her wrists. She yelped in surprise and whined to let her go. Ignoring it, I yanked the painting away from her grip and put it in front. She huffed and punched my shoulder and back but I just laughed. Mind telling you; she just gave some powerful punches. My eyes landed on the painting and my body went numb. It was my portrait—kneeling down on my knees and head buried in my palms. The surrounding so much familiar to the place where I lost her last time and the painting depicted true sadness in it. There was a mist drawn right where Tasha’s image appeared in front of me and told me that she is waiting. I thought it was my mind playing trick but seeing it lay out on a canvas; I was sure it happened. “Give it to me!” She yelled and I turned to face her. She was quick to pull back her painting and hugged it. “Did it hap-happen?” I asked and her eyes were still glaring at me. “Yes!” she said annoyed but I shook my head flabbergasted. I was always close to her; she was always there but… out of reach. Now I don’t know what was worse? Her being absent totally or her being there but not able to touch; I guess it was one and the same. I saw as she sighed and cupped my cheek wiping my tears slowly with her tiny fingers. She’s amazing! “Don’t cry Damien. I’m here close to you—I won’t be going anywhere now.” She smiled and I saw her through my blurred vision. “Yuri taught me how to protect myself and I’ll be protecting you as well.” She said smiling brightly. I laughed through tears and wanted to claim her lips and show her how much I loved her and valued her but couldn’t. She was way too young and it was hard to remember that. Sensing my hesitation; she leaned closer and placed her lips on mine. Pecking me quickly and pulling away; she smiled and blushed before she ran tried to run away. Although, I was stunned but it brewed immense pleasure in my heart and I gripped her arm not wanting her to go. Her kiss was innocent but the familiarity just messed up my brain and the buddy down there. “Don’t go!” the pleading evident in my voice and she stopped turning around. “So, who is this Yuri?” I asked realizing being jealous. “He’s my brother. My superhero!” She said excitedly and my heart was sinking. I hope he wasn’t using her or playing around and keep her trust intact. She was innocent and that scares me. Someone like me might harm her. “Superhero?” I asked with venom coated but she nodded gleaming with happiness. “Yes, he taught me how to channelize my powers and how to attack, defend and—” She said with loving gaze and my jaw clenched. “Alright, I don’t want to hear more. Glad that Yuri taught you all these but you aren’t supposed to be around any stranger no matter how easy they seem. Ok?” I asked and saw her getting reluctant. “But—Yuri is coming.” She said and I chocked on my own words. “When?” I couldn’t help but spat and regretted it. She was furious now. This girl was like a switch—instantly happy and sad; nowhere in between. “Today! He was lost trying to find me so I showed him the way.” Her blunt honesty was getting to my nerve. “Showed the way? How?” I asked and she shrugged. “Like I showed you…” She said and my eyes were ready to pop. “You can’t do that Tasha. This is dangerous. You cannot go around transporting yourself to elsewhere. Promise you won’t do that again.” I said worried to death. It might be fun for her but she doesn’t know that the more power she uses; the more people will trace her easily. There was totally silence in the room until she reluctantly extended her little finger towards me. My heart beat escalated. Pinky promise! That was her style and here this little one was doing just what she used to. The moment I extended my little finger to hers; the air freeze and everything seemed extremely silent. My eyes roamed to confirm only to find her grinning. “Welcome home my child.” That p*****t’s voice pierced the stillness of the air. “Daddy…” She said and run towards him. His eyes widened before he scooped her up in the air and her laughter reverberated through the four walls. “Isn't my baby girl so beautiful?” He nuzzled her and she giggled. Placing a kiss dangerously close to her lips; he leaned his forehead against hers. I saw the change in her face—silent with longing gaze and it agitated me. That man! He was trying to seduce my girl. With two long strides; I walked to them and yanked my girl from him. Stumbling in the process; I steadied myself when she wrapped her legs around my waist to steady her. Her arms sneaked around my neck and the close proximity put me in a daze for a while. She had the same longing in her eyes that my Tasha had and unknowingly, I got drowned in her beauty. Her eyes turned black and the yellow glow appeared around her as a halo. The pitch black glance broke my restrain and I went to close down the distance between us. My palm against her nape as I titled my head; our lips brushed and felt her warm breath fanning my face arousing me. I growled and attacked her but surprisingly she was gone… My eyes bulged out; the fear of losing her strong in my heart and I felt my breath go from rugged to long and deep. I could feel her near me but she wasn’t in sight. I was lost and saw the jerk of the man smirking from a distance. I knew he did something and I ran to him when he waved his hand in the air and I felt air knock out of my chest. A punch felt on my stomach and I landed flat on my back as I groaned in pain. My eyes closed while I winced. When I opened; I was startled to see Tasha hovering over me in the air. She looked dangerous with emotionless face but was truly a seductress. Her hands slowly reached my cheeks. The moment she touched; I felt heat run through my body and my vision clouded with unimaginable thoughts. I opened my eyes and found myself in a dark pitch room with slight red-lights illuminating it dimly. “Tasha?” I called but there was no response. “Tasha…?” I yelled but again there was no response. As I ran forward, I stumbled and fell on a bed as her name slipped off my tongue. “Tash—” I was interrupted by another voice. “Shhh…”
