Fighting Destiny

The Summit-Part 3

Bailey P.O.V.

I could feel the sun rays on my face, causing me to open my eyes slowly. Blinking a few times, it took me a minute to register where I was. I turned over and immediately felt the sparks, making me smile. I looked over and saw Bane, still asleep. He looked so peaceful, his features so much softer. I watched him sleep, creepy I know, but it was just so relaxing. I wanted to take in every winkle, every blemish, the way his mouth twitched. I was so deep in thought, watching his face, that I didn’t even notice his arm around me tighten.

“So you’re a creeper, huh?” His raspy morning voice came and I snapped out of my thoughts, feeling the blood rush to my cheeks. He had a smile on his lips as his eyes opened, staring into mine.

“I-you-uh.” I couldn’t even form a sentence and I quickly looked away.

His laughter filled the room, making my cheeks much redder. “It’s okay, I watched you sleep last night for a good hour after you fell asleep.” He said pulling me closer to him.

“Now who’s being a creeper?” I asked with a small giggle, burring my head into his chest. Another ripple of laugh came through his chest, moving me up and down as he laughed.

“We should probably get up and get ready.” He was raking his fingers through my hair as he spoke. I could tell he didn’t really want to get up, neither did I.

“It’s only seven.” I said with a soft sigh as I closed my eyes, listening to his heartbeat.

“I don’t want to get up either, Foxy, but we still have to get dressed and eat and mingle. “ Why did he have to have a point?

I groaned and lifted myself on my elbow to look at him. “Why Foxy?” I asked, trying to change the subject and stay in bed with him longer.

He gently carresed my face with one hand and smiled. “It just fits you. And your hair is red, made me think of a Fox. Plus your last name, so it just fits.“ He said with a grin before pulling me down for a kiss.

I wanted to stay like this all day, forever, never moving. It was pure heaven. When he pulled away, I whimpered slightly. “Chase brought you some clothes last night after you fell asleep. He said he figured you forgot to grab some. “ He said with a chuckle as I rolled my eyes.

“I’ll make you a deal. We’ll stay in bed another half hour if you tell me more about yourself.” He said, catching me off guard.

“I can handle that. “ I smiled and snuggled close to him, resting my head back down on his chest.

“I was kidnapped when I was ten. I don’t remember much about it, I’ve blocked most of that time out of my mind. “ I said, trying to think of things he would need to know. “I can’t remember if I said, but my rejected mate is still out there. He actually came to visit us before we left to come here.” I said softly, getting a shiver down my spine. Bane tightened his grip on me and let out a small growl.

“He can’t touch you now, love.” He said through gritted teeth.

“My parents died when I was twelve, I don’t really remember much about that either, now that I think of it. I was always told it was a car accident. My dad’s Beta took over until I was old enough at 18. “ I was trying to remember the time that I was kidnaped and my parents death, but it was just foggy and blurry. Almost like something was blocking me from seeing it.

“Oh, my wolf’s name is Willow. My favorite breakfast food is french toast or pancakes. I love all shades of blue. My pack house is mostly blue walls. “ I tapped my chin in thought, trying to think of more things about myself.

“I’ve spent the last six months locked up in my room. I’ve been the worst Alpha, but my pack is always there. They didn’t seem to mind. “ I spoke softly, a tint of sadness in my voice.

Bane moved so that he was now hovering over me, causing me to gasp softly. “They’re still there, still loyal because you are an amazing Alpha, Bailey. You went through hell, and still have the courage to be here and show all the other Alpha’s that you mean business. “ He pressed his lips to mine, harder than before. A muffled moan escaped into his mouth, causing him to growl softly.

“I want to know more about you too, you know.” I stated, after pulling away from him. He frowned slightly and sat on the edge of the bed.

“I do have things to tell you, but it’s going to take longer than we have. “ He glanced at the clock then back at me. “I promise though, I will tell you.” He said grabbing my hands and kissing them. “But you should know one thing. My father. He’s awful, try to stay away from him. He’ll tell you things about me, they might be true, they might not be, but please I am begging you Foxy, don’t let him get to you until I’ve had a chance to tell you everything. “ His words came out so rushed and he was worried. I crawled into his lap, straddling him with my legs on either side of him. I cupped his face and brought it to face mine

. “Hey, hey. I understand. You have my word my love. “ I whispered, staring into his beautiful eyes as he stared back into mine, wrapping his arms around my waist.

Whatever this was with his father was serious, I’d have to make a mental note to tell Chase. If I did it now, Bane would notice and it would ruin this beautiful moment. Not that that mattered, because seconds later there was banging coming from the outside of his door.

“Wake up love birds. Breakfast is almost ready and the Luna’s guys will be here in ten minutes.” I heard Victoria’s voice come through and I groaned, letting my head fall to his shoulder.

“She’s too chipper right now.” I mumbled as Bane stood up from the bed, causing me to squeak as I was still straddling him.

He chuckled and placed me down on the bed gently. “I’ll let you use this bathroom, I’ll use one of the other ones to get ready. And your clothes are in that bag over there. “ He pointed by the bathroom door before kissing my forehead. “I’ll see you downstairs Foxy.” Bane winked at me before leaving the room.

I groaned and fell back onto the bed. I was not looking forward to all the talking I was going to have to do with the other Alpha’s today. Most of them knew me only as the Female Alpha, and apparently that was intimidating.

‘Chase, I was talking with Bane earlier and he said to keep an eye out for his father. I’ll need you and the guys to have eyes on him as much as possible today. ‘ I linked Chase before getting up and heading to the bathroom.

‘Woman, do you know what time it is?’ I got a link back from him and laughed.

‘Breakfast in fifteen, yall better be here.’ Obviously Victoria hadn’t told the guys, which made me not her friend right now. I pouted thinking that I could have had a few more minutes with Bane if she hadn’t lied.

After my shower, I threw my clothes on that Chase brought me and headed downstairs to the kitchen. My red hair was still damp, but I wasn’t spending time on it for these Alpha’s. Once it was dry I was tossing it up in a messy bun.

Rounding the corner, I caught Bane’s scent and became like a five year old excited to go to the ice cream shop. I could hear the guys already in the kitchen cutting up like fools. Our packs were going to mesh just fine. I just knew it.

I walked into the room and just stood at the door, watching them interact. Sure we outnumbered them, but the fact that my guys were all getting along with the three of them, it made my heart happy. I was too focused on them, I didn’t feel anyone behind me until it was too late.

“I haven’t see you this happy in ages, B. “ His voice was literally right next to my ear and it made me jump and scream out in surprise.

He was nearly doubled over laughing and I was hyperventilating. “You asshole!” I screamed at him, throwing daggers with my eyes. That didn’t stop his laughter in the slightest.

Bane was watching us with amused eyes, apparently they’d seen me there, along with Chase, who was basically on the floor now laughing.

“Oh don’t think I won’t get your dumbass back.” I snapped, rolling my eyes at his continuous laughter.

I huffed, and walked away from him, finding a seat at the table and piling my plate with food. I glanced over at the other three of my guys, they were trying so hard to keep in their laughter and I just glared at them.

“We have twenty minutes to get to the Hall guys, I suggest we leave now. “ Egan said coming around the corner. He’d missed the entire thing and his face fell. “Aw man! I missed it!” He groaned, fake crying. Victoria and I both rolled our eyes.

“What, did you all know he was going to do that?” I asked, looking at everyone. Not one single person looked me in the eye. “Oh you are all savages!”

They were all slightly smiling and I couldn’t help the smile that appeared on my lips. I was happy. Happy I hadn’t felt in a long long time. I couldn’t remember I joked around with the guys like this and it felt like old times.

‘I missed seeing this side of you.’ Chase linked me after he’d stopped laughing. A genuine smile gracing his lips as he looked at me.

‘I’ve missed this side of us. I can’t remember when we all laughed like this together.’ I glanced at the other guys. They were happy too.

I shoveled the last couple bites of pancakes into my mouth and finished off my water. “We really should go. I don’t want them using us being mates the reason we’re late.” I said, teasing slightly as I grabbed Bane’s hand.

He chuckled and we all headed out of the lodge and towards the Hall. Today was going to be mainly focused on the alliances we could make with the other Alpha’s, or renewing alliances. Now that I had a mate, his pack would automatically get one with us, and vice versa.

When we entered the hall, Bane lead me over to two seats that happened to be open next to each other. There were still some Alpha’s missing, so that was good at least. Our seconds and other pack members sat in the chairs along the back wall behind us.

“Ah, good morning Alpha Fox. I see that you are well rested, yet not mated or marked?” One of the Alpha’s across from me stated, smirking slightly. I remembered him from last night, he was the one that blocked me from leaving with Bane.

Speaking of Bane, he was growling next to me and gripping my hand tightly. “We are putting our packs before our desires. Don’t think that our commitment to each other is faltered because of this decision, for you would be very wrong. “ Bane spoke firmly and I almost melted, he was unbelievably sexy.

“You of all people should know that you should finish the ritual before someone else tries to claim what is yours, Son. I suggest you do something about that today, before someone else does. “ His sinister voice was taunting Bane. I could see him struggling with his wolf and I frowned.

I reached over and pulled his head to look at me, before pulling him down to my neck. “Breathe, Bane. Don’t let him get to you.” I whispered, gripping the nape of his neck holding him in place. I could feel him breathing in my scent and calming down.

“Thank you.” He whispered, and I couldn’t tell if it was Bane or Tobias speaking. Maybe it was a mixture of both of them. He pulled his head away and took a deep breath. “ Thank you for your concern, Father, but I think we can handle this.” He said coldly before turning to look at the Elder that just walked in.

“Before we begin, I need to alert you all to something. “ He said after clearing his throat. “At around six am this morning, a small pack of Rouges were seen circling the Summit grounds, especially around the lodges. I suggest everyone be very careful the rest of this weekend. “ His words came out, but I was barely hearing them. I was frozen. 

They were here. They wanted the council and the other Alpha’s to know they were here. They wanted Bane to know they were here. I suddenly couldn’t breathe.

Chase was at my side instantly, and Bane had a worried look in his eyes. “She’s having a panic attack. Give her a minute. Bane, watch what I do. “ He grabbed both my hands after making me look at him.

“Deep breaths. 1. 2. 3. 4. Sunshine daisies, butter mellow “ He started and I just stared at him.

“Turn this stupid fat rat yellow. “ I finished after a few minutes.

“I solemnly swear that I am up to no good. “ He said gripping my hands tighter, and I took a few deep breaths.

“Mischief Managed.” I said nodding towards him.

“Really? Harry Potter?” I heard Bane ask and smiled at Chase.

“We use others too, but yes, mainly harry potter. It’s her happy place. Sometimes we use quotes from Supernatural, or even Twilight. Whatever pops into my head first.” Chase said letting go of my hands, letting me turn to Bane.

“I started having panic attacks after I was taken, this was the only way Chase found calmed me down quickly. “ I gave a slight shrug.

Bane pulled me into his lap, staring into my eyes. “They can’t get you, Bailey. There are over three dozen Alpha’s here, and just as many if not more seconds and thirds. You are literally not going anywhere alone now. “ He said and I just nodded. I was thankful for Veronica in that moment, because going to the bathroom with them following me was going to get awkward. 

Bane leaned down, his face burying into my neck,under my hair. He was breathing in my scent, but it was so calming in a way. "I won't let them take you again, I swear." His voice was barely a whisper and I simply nodded, resting my head against his shoulder. This is not how I wanted to start the morning.
