Chapter 5

"What if I decide to bring Adrian down?" Cole stated coldly while he gave Damon a stern look with his cutlery poised in the air

Damon took a bite from his breakfast and another, "Take Adrian down?" Damon scoffed and took a sip from the coffee he was taking, before he continued, " If I couldn't bring him down, what makes…."

" I said I'll bring Adrian down! Let me prove that" Cole cut in, interrupting his father

"You've never been this serious, so I guess this is good. Prove it to me" Damon said with a mouthful, nodding his head all the way.

Cole stood up from the dining and walked away. He drove quickly to Adrian's house. Standing in the kitchen was Amelia and Lydia. Lydia busied with preparing breakfast while Amelia stood beside her wearing a nightshorts and shirts chatting happily as she sipped from her coffee.

"Good morning, Aurora" Cole greeted with a warm smile, approaching the dining.

"Oh… uhh…. sorry, Good morning Cole. Adrian stepped out few minutes ago, I bet he must be in the office by now" Amelia explained nervously

"He missed breakfast?" Cole asked blushing at her shyness

"Yeah, he did. 'Said he got some important things that needed attention as soon as possible" Amelia took another sip of her coffee nervously to avoid eye contacts with Cole

After what seemed like ages, Amelia decided to the break the ice of silence which came in with discomfort. "Had breakfast yet?"

"No, I haven't" Cole answered still maintaining a smile

"Lydia is preparing breakfast, I'd just quickly refreshen up and be back downstairs" Amelia hurriedly dropped the almost cold cup of coffee and scurried upstairs. Few minutes later, she was back wearing a lemon golf shorts and a plain t-shirt.

"I'm sorry I kept you waiting" Amelia said with a smile walking up to the dining

"Nahh, it's fine. Lydia just served the breakfast" Cole took his seat and began to eat

"Spill it"

"What?" Cole asked in a surprised tone

"You've been smiling since you arrived, spill it. What do you have to say?"

"Alot actually. Why are you still nervous, thought we were cool last night?" Cole chuckled as he munched the last bite of the scrambled eggs from his plate

"I didn't expect to meet you this early, I was surprised, then I felt embarrassed, I mean I was looking like a home…."

"You looked beautiful this morning" Cole cut in with a warm smile

"Uh...thank...thank you" Amelia answered with a blush

"So, what do you do?"

"Artist" Amelia answered nonchalantly as she took a bite from the tofu scramble in her plate

"Artist? Oh! That's amazing" Cole complimented with a short laugh

Amelia's mouth dropped opened, "Psychologist! I'm a psychologist. I love arts, so I just go around calling myself one" she gave a slight chuckle

"Psychologist? That's quite professional and I didn't expect Adrian to fall in love with his doctor" Cole chuckled

Amelia froze in fear "C'mon, I was never his patient" Amelia countered and gave a loud laugh to hide her disappointment

"How did you meet? Last night you said your relationship with him is something beyond the ordinary, so tell me" Cole asked, curiosity and desperation masked his expression

"I told you that? s**t! I must have been tipsy" Amelia lied in a low and calm tone

"I don't want to believe our new friendship was borne out of drunkenness" Cole retorted with a frown

"C'mon Cole, we're friends and I can remember agreeing to that. So what about you?" Amelia asked, trying to divert the most uncomfortable conversation she was having

"I work as a head manager for NX hotel…."

"s**t! Ain't you supposed to be in work now?" Amelia asked, tinged with concern

"Chill. I got some meeting by 11am today, still got some time to hang around with you"

"Cool. Let's take a walk then"

"Amazing! I'd love that"

"I'm stepping out, I'll be back soon" Amelia called out to Lydia and exited the house with Adrian

"You love drawing? How long have you been drawing?" Cole asked still maintaining his glance on the street

"Since I was 5" Amelia said, turning to see his expression

" Cool stuff. Your parents must have been proud. Why do you love to draw?"

"I grew up in a….."

"Sorry, I have to take this" Cole interrupted, taking few steps away from her

"I'm really sorry, Aurora I have to leave now. I'm really sorry about hanging out conversation this way, I promise to make it up to you" Cole pleaded earnestly

"It's totally fine, Cole, I mean…." Amelia's speech hung in her throat as Cole gave her a warming hug and dropped a little kiss on her neck. ", You're a beautiful piece of art, Aurora" He smiled and hurried back to his car. Amelia froze in the air, void of thoughts and expression. She managed to return back to her senses when Cole zoomed off.

She hurriedly headed back to her room in excitement. Amelia first reached out to her phone and dialed Izzy's number. If a google search could be named after a human, it will Izzy. Izzy always had the answer to every Amelia's question.

"Love at first sight? How'd you feel?" Amelia asked immediately Izzy picked up her call

"Chill babe, what you talking about?"

"I think I might fall in love" Amelia announced

Izzy let out a loud laugh from over the phone. "f**k it girl, you've never been in love with anything human except money"

"He kissed me!"

"OMG! Look who's finally falling in love with her patient" Izzy teased

"Cole, cole gave me a peck on my neck. Jeez, that was the most romantic ever and know what he said after that? A beautiful piece of art, he called me a beautiful piece of art, baby girl" Amelia bragged. An uncomfortable silence followed through. The kind of silence that screams disappointment with a bit of surprise

"By Cole, do you mean Cole, Adrian's cousin?" Izzy asked, breaking the silence

"Yes"

"f**k girl! What are you now? Some hot take? Girl, I'm so happy for you, this is creating a new wave" Izzy broke out exciting

"I'm Amelia after all"

Amelia jerked off the bed like she was pursued. "What time is it?" She muttered to herself, "when did I fall asleep? s**t, Amelia, you're a doctor for goodness sake!" Amelia cried out disappointingly. She walked downstairs for a glass of water, ignoring the troubles from her stomach. "Why didn't Lydia call me out for dinner?" Amelia gave a loud sigh as she remembered telling Lydia to leave her alone as she won't be coming down for dinner. "You sleepyhead" Amelia berated herself as she kept slapping her forehead.

"You miss dinner, now you sneak in to eat by midnight?" A loud voice whispered sarcastically. Her hands poised in the air as she was about to open the refrigerator. "Good evening, Mr Adrian"

" A sleep expert sleeping for 12 hours? I bet this career is one big joke" Adrian scoffed, walked pass her and headed for a can of alcohol

"I'm sorry about that, was just reading one of those boring novels, didn't know I fell asleep" Amelia tried to plead

"In 100 days, the table will turn, you the doctor will be treated and I the patient will prove to you that doctors like you only pursue money, nothing else" Adrian stated without any remorse and slurped down the alcohol from his can

"What? Didn't you ask me to stay, are you f*****g with me?" Amelia asked

"Well you stay and prove my words are either true or false" Adrian gave a slight chuckle as he took the last sip from the can

"Are you letting out your bad day on me?" Amelia asked angrily to his face

"I like you, Aurora"
