“And you believe I’d be impressed by that?” Laura questions Adrian regarding his last statement to her, while the two continue to sit.

“Probably, and also because it is the truth.” Adrian responds, before resting his back on his chair. “Laura, The truth about me is, I am a man of my word. And part of it is promising to hurt you intentionally, which means I plan to give my interest to it, which also means, I plan to do it right, for I am the one whom initiated the proposal.” Adrian completes his statement, whereas the meal which they order arrives to their table.

“Well I would hold on to that.” Is all Laura comments on Adrian’s response.

“You must be an expert in relationships then, how come you’re not in one?” Adrian picks an interest with his words to Laura, that he reverts back to sit straight.

“I believe I do not recall stating my relationship status,” Laura responds with a little smirk on her lips, taking Adrian to chuckle lightly, such that one can feel the mood around the two lighten up.

“Well if I have learnt something about Laura Eduoard is that she does stick strictly to her principles. Which means that, if indeed she is in a relationship then my proposal wouldn’t be worth thinking about.” Adrian reasons, taking Laura to smile at the intelligence of his thoughts.

“And what if I am in a relationship, but have no interest in it. After all, I do recall a particular person talking about not giving their time to something they aren’t interested in.” Laura alternates her response to questions Adrian.

“Then I would be glad, for it will mean I have peeked your interest just a little bit to have you take your time to be here.” Adrain’s gaze locks with Laura’s, showcasing the determination in his eyes, such that Laura finds attractive and intriguing.

“In conclusion, what you are saying is, it is not of a concern to you to take another man’s woman, if it is to get what you want?” Laura further asks, as with her questions comes her judgement to determine if Adrian is worth accepting the proposal he offers.

“Absolutely not and definitely not my style. I do not cross my boundaries Laura, and I certainly expect others not to do so for mine. Let’s just say it is a talent of mine to spot a single, yet, beautiful woman.” Adrian gives his response.

“Then I guess what the tabloids say is true.” Laura speaks with neither a frown nor a smile on her lips while facing Adrian. “You are a ladies man.” Laura adds, while Adrian remains silent not being able to falsify Laura’s words. “I am perplexed though about how this is supposed to work,” Laura continues. “While on the contract marriage, is it permissible to still have romantic relationships outside of the marriage?” Laura inquires.

“Well yes. It is permissible. I can’t be selfish not to exclude that for I know this isn’t a love marriage, but whatever we do should be kept discreet from the public, though I do believe we have a right to know each other’s partners for safety reason and since we’re building our relationship on trust.” Adrian answers honestly, while Laura doesn’t say a word but nod her head.

“And what would be the story to friends and family? I do not suppose it would be discreet to not let them know,” Laura further asks.

“Yes it wouldn’t, but I believe David’s wife whom is your best friend, would be eligible to know, as long as you do trust such secret with her.” Adrian answers, taking Laura to realize how much he knows about her, yet so little she knows about him. “Though, left to me I would advise we keep this between us.” Adrian adds.

“I do understand your point of view, but for someone like Mr Lucien whom would fish out suspicion when announced of the marriage, you don’t expect him to believe easily.” Laura reasons.

“A few persons it is.” Adrian agrees with a smile on his lips, showcasing his dimple, for each time he smiles Laura finds herself in awe of his handsomeness.

Laura recalls the first day she meets Adrian. In Laura’s life she has never met any man whom can pull her attention based on just his looks like the way Adrian did. And even if she admits that her ex boyfriend Harry, was a spec with his looks, Adrian is on another level of handsomeness, for if it isn’t for the level of control she has over herself, Laura would be among the ladies kneeling to his feet.

And now, when she stares at Adrian, deep down in Laura’s mind, she is envious of the woman whom would have his kids, for they would be as beautiful as he is.

The two pause their conversations for a while, before diving into their course meal, but not forgetting to pass each other side glances.

Stay by Rihanna plays on the radio inside Adrian’s Tesla, where Adrian and Laura stay in, while Adrian drives to Laura’s hotel, when a phone call rings through his phone.

“Hello Ellen,” Adrian picks up the call, while Laura pretends to be inattentive to his conversation, especially having heard a woman’s name slips out of his lips. “Calm down and talk to me Ellen, what is it?” Adrian speaks through the phone, whereas Laura now turns her gaze to meet Adrian hearing the worry in his voice and seeing him run a hand through his hair. “Alright, I’ll be right there. Try to keep him calm, I’ll be there soon.” Adrian adds, before he ends the call.

“I hope all is well?” Laura speaks seeing Adrian’s disheveled nature.

“Forgive me Laura, I know I am supposed to drop you off right now, but I just got an emergency call which needs my attention and if I am to drop you off before going, matters may escalate.” Adrian turns to Laura as through his tone, Laura feels his apologetic nature.

“You do not need to apologize Adrian, I do understand. As long as it is fine by you, I can come with you.” Laura responds.

“Of course you can. If this is going to work you will need to know of important matters to me.” Adrian adds, taking Laura to smile lightly, before Adrian changes their course of destination.

Laura stares at her unknown destination, seeing as Adrian comes to a stop at an orphanage home.

“I will be right back.” Adrian says to Laura, before getting out of the car and running into the building. Laura stares at her environment perplexed as of why Adrian will need to make a stop at an orphanage, when she begins to hear the screams of a little child, prompting her to get up from where she seats and also into the building.

Laura follows the screams of the little child she hears, until she reaches its source, and her feet comes to halt, seeing Adrian hold down a little child as he screams.

“It’s me Nico, you’re safe now. it’s Adrian I’m here. I’m here, you don’t need to be scared.” Laura watches with her gaze furrowed at the confusion of what is going on, when she sights other people in the room with her, which she didn’t earlier with her perplexed gaze.

“What is wrong with him?” Laura asks an elderly woman whom she reasons to be a care taker in the orphanage. “Isn’t Adrian hurting him that way?” Laura questions with fear in her eyes of what is happening in front of her.

“Nico and his younger sister grew up with abusive foster parents, whom usually molest them, up until his sister fell from the stairs when such incident happened again, which took the life of his sister. Hearing about what happened to Nico and his sister, Adrian took it as his personal involvement to rescue Nico and bring him to the orphanage where he can receive proper love and care, but ever since he has been here for the past two years, just a little remembrance of what his sister went through takes him into an anxiety attack, that all he sees is danger and ever since, Adrian has been the only one able to calm him down.” The woman tells Laura, whereas her gaze goes back to watch Adrian whom has Nico in a tight embrace, continue to whisper and speak calm words to Nico.

Gradually, Nico’s screams begins to deduce, that once he stops screaming, The ten year old bursts into tears, hugging Adrian tight, while Adrian soothes his back along with assurance of his safety.

At this moment, Laura retracts everything it is she has heard about Adrian from the tabloids, as in her entire life of knowing wealthy persons, she has never known of a person to show selfless acts just like the one Adrian has done.

And even if Laura had in mind of not accepting Adrain’s proposal, with such acts from him, Laura seems to make a new decision.
