Unknown truth.

1707 Words
Laura doesn’t realize when her hands begin to tremble at the news Adrian breaks to her, for even if she has just known Fiona for a day, she can’t imagine hearing of her death. A word she despises to hear. “You said she had a surgery and it was successful, then what happened?” Laura questions sympathetically. “Apparently, her body is rejecting the transplant.” Adrian answers melancholically to Laura, while he takes notice of the pain present in her eyes, when she goes silent. Pain for his grandmother. It takes Adrian by another stun, seeing the emotions in Laura’s eyes, one which she shouldn’t have to feel based on just meeting his grandmother for the first time, yet, her emotions showcase as though it is personal to her. “Which is why I want to fulfill her every last wish of me.” Adrian adds. “Believe me Laura when I tell you that I have no intention of hurting you, and if you do accept my proposal, we will set any rule which you seem fit, all written down so as not to be trespassed.” Adrian speaks, while he watches Laura run a hand through her hair. “You want me to marry you because of your grandmother?” Laura eventually speaks. “Yes, for it will make her happy before she leaves,” Adrian answers. “And because of the necklace?” Laura questions Adrian, as her question seems to make him go silent. “What if I gave you the necklace and you marry someone else with the trust that you will return it back to me after the ceremony is complete?” Laura gaze vividly at Adrian, as it is now her turn to investigate him. “Do you dislike me that much to not want anything to do with me?” Adrian’s words take Laura by stun, seeing pain in his eyes. “It’s not so Adrian. I don’t want to lie to your grandmother, I don’t know if I can put up the act of a fake marriage and face her knowing that after she is gone, such a relationship is gone also.” Laura speaks her truth, one which comes hard for her. “I’m certain you will find someone out there whom will perform the job perfectly…” “I won’t.” Adrian cuts Laura off. “I won’t find someone else like you Laura. I won’t find someone whom is not enticed by my wealth of fame. Someone whom won’t fake emotions just to get what she wants…” “But that is exactly what you’re asking me to do.” Laura cuts in, staring back at Adrian with parted lips. “Our relationship doesn’t have to be fake Laura. I’m not saying we should remain married, but we could build a relationship of trust and friendship, such that when we call it off, we still have a relationship to talk about.” Adrian says, but Laura only nods her head negatively. “I thought marriage was supposed to be based on love and trust.” Laura speaks more like a question but a statement. “We could learn to trust each other Laura and love even if it’s that of being friends. I promise you Laura, I have no intention of hurting and every step of the way I will be transparent to you.” Adrian’s tone pleading to convince Laura. “I don’t know Adrian, I don’t know if I can do this, because what you’re asking me is to go in a contract marriage with you. You very well know who you are, I don’t want to be dragged into something that will eventually hurt me and I will regret.” Laura speaks truthfully. “It is not my wish to approach you with such, but my Grandmother does not have much time left. I will never hurt you intentionally Laura.” Words fail Laura, as she only sighs and bury her head into the palm of her hands. Laura battles with her thoughts, in such way that she chooses to accept Adrian’s proposal because of the aged woman, yet, she fears of what may come after. Not only would she be lying to Fiona, but her life would never remain the same after publicly being with a man known as Adrian Alimson. What is she going to do? Laura is perplexed. “I have not given a response to your proposal yet, but I would like to know how we can build the trust which you talk about.” ———————— Adrian sips his glass of red wine, as he stares directly in oblivion of his pool. His mind surrounds the memory of what took place this very day between he and Laura and even if she hasn’t accepted his request, it is a step forward. It takes him by stun of the situation he is in, especially where he is pleading to a woman to be his wife, when numerous number of them lay at his feet, wanting his attention, but, perhaps that is the unknown truth that Adrian fails to acknowledge to himself as to what attracts him the more to Laura. An advantage of have a photographic memory, is playing an event of what has taken place to seem afresh in the head, whereas Adrian recalls every picture of Laura in his head. Her pink plump lips, her curly eyelashes that may probably only be noticeable with a mascara, her winged eye structure and smooth skin, and of course her beautiful smile. With all these attributes, along with Laura’s height and elegance, she is the perfect woman to stay by his side, except for the truth of if it being that, there is no love in between them, else they make the perfect couple. One Adrian certainly knows of. Adrian of all people knows of the certainty of how wrong his plans can actually go, but one thing about Adrian Alimson is, when he sets his mind on something, he never lets go of it. And Laura, is beginning to view as that to him. Adrian gulps down the remaining of his wine, before walking back into his house to sleep and also prepare for an outing he has with a certain woman known as, Laura Eduoard. ————————- The red gown Laura wears hugs her body perfectly, along with the brown coat she has on, and her hair cascading over her shoulders. As Laura walks into San Diego’s restaurant, she instantly sights Adrian under the blue dim light. “Hello Laura,” Adrian acknowledges Laura’s presence, as she reaches him. “Hi Adrian,” Laura responds amicably, before taking a seat opposite Adrian. “You look beautiful,” Adrian compliments, whereas Laura smiles lightly. “Thank you.” “Please suit yourself to order what you want,” Adrian offers to Laura, while she nods at him. Laura’s gaze moves away from Adrian to her environment, scanning through the building. From where she sits, Laura finds out that the population of the customers at the restaurant mainly seem to be couples, as one can sight the affection they display, unlike she and Adrian whom sit in a secluded corner to avoid prying eyes or paparazzi whom may sight Adrian. “How do you find the weather here?” Adrian attempts to lighten the mood, after the two order their meal. “Well I have been to New York before, just not this time of the year. Nevertheless, it is quite well.” Laura responds. “And do you plan on staying longer this time around. I can talk to Lucien.” Adrian offers. “Definitely not. I do not need him to know about our situation.” Laura responds. “Of course, I understand.” Adrian adds. “Tell me Laura, what are your hobbies?” Adrian inquires. “I like to play the piano most times and swim to ease out my stress. There are quite others, but those two are my majors.” Laura answers truthfully, while Adrian finds himself distracted not by her words, but by the lips which they come out from. He is a man after all. Adrian takes notes of Laura’s clothes, knowing for certainty that each of her clothes are not cheaply made but designers. Another reason why Laura is the perfect fit, for he is not searching for a Cinderella, but someone whom can fit well into the kind of life he lives, and even though Laura Is definitely not as wealthy as he is, she is of standard. “What about you? What do you do at your leisure times?” Laura is the one to ask. “Well I do love to go by the casino whenever I do have spare time, but with what I do, I hardly find those times.” Adrian answers. “Then you must have been bad at relationships, if so,” Laura states, taking Adrian to chuckle lightly and Laura to become fascinated at such little gesture of his, taking her to notice the little dimple on his left cheek. “Why do you say so?” Adrian questions. “Well, I do not know about your view in relationships but I do know and believe they require time and attention. And since you are a busy man, how do you work it?” Laura inquires as her question is intriguing to both of them. “I believe you can say so or maybe I just wasn’t interested like I thought I was.” Adrian answers, taking Laura to study his response. “If that is so, how do you tend to do right, let’s say I do accept your proposal?” Laura questions, as before the end of her statement Adrian has a smirk on his lips. “Oh, you are different Laura Eduoard.” Adrian responds still with a full smirk on his lips. And even if the two do try to deny the attraction which it is they feel, it can only last for a while, for the universe has just begun their story.
