Roses can be red and violets be blue for certainty, yet, it isn’t for Laura until she finds proof of such statements for accountability. Laura sips the glass of the wine in front of her, while Adrian whom sits opposite her, interludes her response.
“I have decided to accept your proposal Adrian,” Laura eventually speaks, taking Adrian to let out a sigh of relieve, for he is certain it is not by his making to which Laura decides to accept his request, one which perplexes him as to what his saving grace may be. “But, under my own terms and conditions.” Laura adds, taking Adrian to raise a brow at her additional statement.
“And what may those be?” Adrian inquires attentively.
“I do have some certain questions which I would like you to clarify before I get do state them,” Laura begins, staring back at Adrian.
“Whatever it is, I’ll make certain to answer honestly.” Adrian responds.
“Are we really going to get married?” Laura’s first question to Adrian comes, as with her question Adrian emerges with a miniature smile invading his lips.
“Do you envisage I would harm you if we do?” Adrian jokes with Laura in his words.
“I didn’t utter such, I only need to be clarified.” Unfortunately, Laura doesn’t receive hints of Adrian’s jokes, such that she responds formally.
“Yes Laura, we will be getting married legally.” Adrian answers Laura’s questions.
“And how long is the marriage going to last?” Laura further questions.
“A year in place.” Adrian responds straightforwardly.
“Perhaps Fiona lives longer than that which I do wish for her, what’s the plan after that?” Laura reasons.
“This whole arrangement is to prevent causing my grandmother a potential sadness. In sense that, we’re placing our marriage contract under a year knowing she has lesser to live. My plan is for her not to find out about our arrangements, but, if she does live longer, which of course is my wish too, I can not be selfish to you Laura, for you have your life to live, so we do find a way to pronounce of our marriage coming to an end, with or without my grandmother.” Adrian responds, as with his words one might mistake it for wishing his grandmother ill, but reverse is the case, for all Adrian wants is to make Fiona happy.
“Alright, point taken.” Laura nods her head in acknowledgment to Adrian’s words. “Regarding your famous status, I would like to keep it discreet till the duration of termination.” Laura speaks.
“Yes that is possible, but you need to have it known that the Alimson’s always have a ceremony for every wedding. For that, the announcement of our wedding would be public to say. Asides that, the only thing you should be worried about the public is escorting me to dinners, gala’s and public events, as you do know we will need to keep our words true about being a couple.” Adrian answers, while Laura goes silent.
“Is there really need for a ceremonial wedding?” Laura inquires with a little chuckle.
“I’m sorry, but we hold tradition dear in the family.” Adrian tells Laura with a weak smile, while she nods in understanding. “Is that all you would Like to know?” Adrian gazes vividly at Laura, taking him to notice a vague change in her appearance, such as having her hair tied in a bun.
“There is one more.”Laura says letting her gaze remain with Adrian’s. “Would the contact have an effect on my work with Mr Lucien?” Laura questions, taking Adrian to adjust his sitting again to respond to her.
“I would cater for all your needs Laura, and still establish whatever it is you desire. All you have to do is say the word and it’s yours…”
“I’m not doing this for your money Adrian, I don’t need it. I’m doing this for Fiona, so you don’t have to cater for my needs, I’m very well able to do that.” Laura picks an offense at Adrian’s words.
“My apologies if my words do come offensive, believe me it is not my intention. In an instance if we were to be in France, you could still work for Lucien, but the situation here is different, for I am here in New York, which is why I’m offering to take care of all your needs and allowances till our contract expires.” Adrian imposes his point of view.
“I am not a stay at home kind of woman whom just attends parties, just because I am getting married to a billionaire.” Laura tackles, still standing on her decision.
“If you do choose to work, you can work at my company, that way the public won’t find words to speak about it or i can help with establishing something of your own,” Adrian says. “I want you to see from my point of view Laura, it does make us suspicious if you decide to stay in France and work for someone else, knowing quite well who I am.” Adrian tells Laura, taking her decision to falter, while she takes her gaze away from him.
“You’re helping me even if you’re doing it for my grandmother, but let me also help you Laura. Let me also take care of you.” At Adrian’s last words, Laura’s gaze shifts gradually to meet gaze with him, as even though she is still getting to know whom Adrian Alimson is, she can tell for a certainty that his words do come true to her. Words that she seems not to have heard in years.
Laura’s eyelashes fan her face repeatedly, while she takes her gaze away from Adrian again, feeling his words beginning to do something to her heart, something she can’t quit explain yet.
“Okay.” Is all Laura says, taking Adrian to nod his head in gratitude of her reasoning with him.
——————-
Adrian knocks lightly on the gold steel door, standing outside the hotel suite, with one hand in his pocket and the other by his side, while he awaits a response from the other end of the door. It takes him by stun while waiting, for Laura has just informed him she was ready for their outing for the day, and when he didn’t get to sight her come to his car and dialed her number multiple times with no reply, Adrian decides to meet her himself.
The door flings open, as Adrian stares at Laura in a brown robe, with her hair wet, whereas Laura stares at her open door with shock in her eyes of having her gaze on Adrian.
“Adrian? What are you…”
“I called you several times while waiting and you didn’t arrive or respond to my calls, so I thought to check up on you…which I see that you’re not ready yet,” Adrian speaks as his eyes trails down of Laura’s exposed toned skin.
“My since apologizes, I had a little…”
“You’re bleeding!” Adrian’s gaze goes wide, cutting Laura off her response to him, when he sights a trail of blood flowing down her hairline. “You’re hurt. What happened? Who did this to you Laura?” Adrian’s questions coming after the other and not letting Laura speak, when he walks into her suite investigating for a sign of attack in Laura’s suite.
“No one. No one hurt me Adrian, I’m fine.” Laura shuts her door, while she walks in to Adrian.
“But you’re bleeding,” Adrain repeats, taking Laura to have her hand on her forehead to feel the wet liquid stain her fingers.
“I was about coming down, when my coffee mug fell and broke, causing my coffee to spill on my dress and hair, and…I guess the glass to my forehead, which I didn’t notice.” Laura explains, while Adrian moves closer to her.
“May I?” Adrian takes Laura by stun when he stands with just an inch away from her, with his gaze accessing her facial structure vividly.
“Um…yes,” Laura response comes astonishing. For the first time, Adrian’s skin trails around Laura’s face, accessing the cut on her forehead, whereas Laura holds herself steady from the racing beats of her hearts by Adrian’s cold touch.
Her gaze and his gaze locking consecutively, as Adrian’s fingers remains on Laura’s skin, whereas he embraces the softness and smoothness of her skin. “Fortunately, It’s not deep and can be covered with just a band aid.” Adrian eventually speaks, taking his fingers off Laura’s skin, whereas Laura lets down a heavy gulp done her throat due to the immense feeling of having Adrian intensely close to her.
“Is there a first aid box here?” Adrian inquires Laura.
“Um… yes, I believe I saw one.” Laura answers, feeling herself stutter in front of Adrian for the first time. “I would go and get it.” Laura nods, taking that as her excuse to leave Adrian’s presence.
Laura gets into her restroom, before letting a loud exhale escape her lips while she stares at her face in the mirror, and seeing the source of the blood dripping down her head, along with her cheeks which seem to have become a darker shade.
She gets out of her restroom with a first aid box in her hand, but this time composed to face Adrian. From where Laura comes through, she sights Adrian’s back facing her, taking her to digest in his appearance of wearing a gray shirt and black ironed pants.
Laura can’t help but admire the man in front of her, as stunning to her, fantasies begin to emerge in her thoughts that she finds herself staring longer than usual.
“You found it,” Adrian’s words takes Laura out of her trance, as she lets out a clearing cough.
“Yes, I did.” Laura nods, while she sights Adrian walking closer to her again. “What is it?” Laura questions Adrian, seeing him at a close proximity to her again.
“You definitely can not do it yourself, so I’m going to.” Adrian answers, for when he notices Laura decides to debate with him, he takes the box out of her hand while staring back at her sternly.
“Sit.”
