Adrian places the band aid carefully to Laura’s forehead, while Laura averts her gaze from meeting with him, for they seem to be giving her a stir in the abdomen, such that Laura believes her time of the month is around the corner, for her body to react to such little gestures.
“All done.” Adrian speaks.
“Merci.” Laura says with a grace smile. “I mean, thank you.” Laura adds.
“I know what Merci means Laura,” Adrian says with a light chuckle, taking Laura to scoff.
“Oh, last I recall you do not know French,” Laura says with her tone teasing Adrian.
“And how certain are you of that?” Adrian asks with a raised eyebrow.
“Do you really want me to recall you of how I know? It’s quite embarrassing I must say.” Laura speaks with a smirk holding her lips.
“Oh wow.” Adrian chuckles lightly. “Well please do, miss Eduoard, because I am a shameless man.” Adrian says, taking Laura to let out a loud laugh at his statement, one which Adrian begins to adore till it dies down.
“Then I would gladly tell you.” Laura tells Adrian still yet with a smile on her lips, while Adrian can only watch and finesse In the beauty of Laura. Laura recalls Adrian of their first time meeting, which led her to call him a jerk in French, while she heard him ask Elyse, Thank what her words mean.
Throughout her words, Adrian listens to Laura, but a higher percent of his attention stays focused on admiring Laura and her manner of approach. One which makes curiosity to fill him.
One would assume it is of the reason that Laura is a French woman, which makes him curious, yet, it isn’t so, as Adrian has been all over the world and met a lot of women, but Laura still stands out. The reason, he can’t quite figure out.
“Honestly the way you pronounced your words, I did think it was more than just a jerk, which of course made me furious.” Adrian admits with a chuckle. “You got me, my French is in progress,” Adrian adds taking Laura to smile.
“I could teach you, only if, you’re a fast leaner.” Laura says along with her conditions.
“Oh Miss Eduoard you have no issues if that is your only condition,” Adrian accepts.
“My apologies Adrian, I did delay our outing.” Laura apologizes sincerely, taking her gaze to grow solemn.
“You need not apologize for something you couldn’t have controlled. We can always do it another day.”
“Thank you.” Laura smiles, while the room remains silent after her words.
“I have something for you,” Adrian eventually speaks.
“Oh, what is it?” Laura asks intrigued.
“I went to pick up a jewelry for my sister, and it caught my eye. Though, I didn’t know the right size but I figured it should fit.” Adrian continues, all while Laura stares at him in perplexity of what he is speaking of.
“What are you…” Laura’s words reverts back to her lungs, while watching Adrian take out a box from his back pocket and slowly opens it. Laura unconsciously takes in a hard gulp, as Adrian opens the box, revealing to her a shiny diamond pearl ring.
“Will you marry me Laura Eduoard?” Adrian asks the one question Laura has always wanted to hear her entire life, and to hear it from someone she loves and feels the same for her. For such reasons, it pains Laura deeply that she is about to accept a marriage neither based on love, nor a thing of forever, but on a contract.
Is she certainly ready for this? Is she certain of giving her first marriage to a man whom she neither loves nor does he? is she certain this would not slap back to her face? Laura questions all these to herself, while staring back at Adrian whom awaits her response.
“Yes. I will marry you.”
————————-
“I have a confession to make.” Laura begins, with her gaze staring directly to her phone screen, while biting her lower lip.
“Wait, don’t tell me? You’re pregnant.” Georgia, whom is on the other end of her screen speaks with an excited gaze. “I always envisaged you were going to have a baby before me. Who’s the father?” Georgia adds, taking Laura to shut her eyes for a second in disbelieve of her best friend.
“No Georgia, I’m not pregnant or having a baby for God’s sake,” Laura tells Georgia, as she watches her best friend roll her eyes to her from the screen.
“If you’re not having a baby, then I’m not interested in knowing about your confession,” Georgia says, taking Laura to chuckle lightly for she is aware of the reason behind Laura’s actions, which dates back to the last time the two spoke and Laura hanged up on her best friend.
Understanding that Georgia won’t perceive her solemnly, unless proved to her, Laura decides to raise her left hand, clear enough for Georgia to sight her hand, and most especially her finger with a ring on it. “I’m getting married Georgia.” In a swift second, Georgia’s gaze goes wide in stun and perplexity of what Laura displays to her.
“Oh my God!” Is the first word to exit Georgia’s lips, while her eyes zoom to the screen to accessing Laura’s words.. “Laura Eduoard, you have been a sly little b***h!” Georgia’s voice rages through Laura’s device, causing Laura to take her phone further away from herself. “You are seeing someone and you never thought to inform me, your best friend about it?” Georgia stares vividly in disbelieve at her friend.
“That is not what happened Georgia…just listen to me.” Laura makes attempt to soothe her best friend.
“Then how did it happen that I never knew you were seeing someone up until you’re getting married to him?” Georgia speaks, whereas Laura experiences the hurt radiating from her. “Who is he? Do I know him?” Georgia inquires.
“Yes you met him once, and he’s David’s friend.” Laura says.
“Don’t keep me in suspense Laura Eduoard. Tell me who he is!” Georgia, whom is naturally dramatic in nature inquires impatiently.
“Adrian Alimson.” Laura speaks out a name which she never envisaged from herself to drip from her lips, nonetheless, getting married to him. Georgia’s gaze freezes for some seconds, taking Laura to shake her phone envisaging her halt to be an unstable network, until she realizes such isn’t the case when Georgia’s raging voice fills the air.
“LAURA ELIZABETH EDUOARD! You little sly woman!”
——————-
Adrian’s acquisition of sleep seems to prove abortive, despite his activities with the brunette whom sleeps nakedly on the other side of the bed, as Adrian finds himself restless.
Adrian leaves his side of the bed, walking to the balcony of the hotel suite, where his gaze acknowledges the lights present in the streets of New York, while he reasons to figure out his predicament of restlessness, leading him to arrive at one particular answer.
His engagement to Laura Eduoard.
It is neither in Adrian’s wish nor his agenda to settlement down with a woman at this point in his life, yet, he can’t quite pin he and Laura’s marriage to be called a settlement for him, for the two will have their freedom to perform their wishes.
And still yet, deep down Adrian’s thoughts, he knows for certainty that living under the same roof with Laura, is going to be a challenge to him, for he is beginning to find it difficult to take his eyes off her.
