I called 911.

Laura stares out the window, seeing the white clouds and the blue sky closely, such that a smile makes it way to her lips while she and Adrian depart from Babardos.

Laura takes her gaze away from the window, to rest on Adrian whom stays with focus while working on his laptop. An act he seems to be on ever since their plane set out to depart.

“You’re actions is not fair,” Laura speaks out of the blue, causing Adrian to raise his gaze from his MacBook, to furrow his eyebrows at her. “You leave me all by myself, while you work,” Laura says, with her lips in a pout, while teasing Adrian. Adrian instantly feeling remorse washing over him, as a sigh escapes his lip and he closes his MacBook, before getting up from his seat to meet Laura, where she seats.

“I’m sorry, I just have a lot of work waiting for me due to our vacation.” Adrian tells Laura with his gaze prominent on her. Laura sends Adrian a gaze which stays unknown to him, by having her eyes sifted in a way he can not understand, taking him to chuckle lightly. Left to Laura, she never envisages of the recent upgrade in their relationship, as with the conversation she and Adrian did have at the cave, they two seems to have even become closer. “Come on, don’t be hard on me.” Adrian teases Laura while he caresses her chin curtly and gently. An act which is simple, yet Laura finds meaningful.

Laura stares at Adrian, as both their gaze lock on each other, whereas one feels herself slowly letting her guard down around the other, while the other is beginning to break his words from a particular contract he initiated.

Adrian’s stare on Laura is interrupted when his phone rings, taking Laura to also shift her gaze away and back to her previous concentration which is the window.

“Yes Heidi,” Adrian picks his call, seeing it to be his secretary. “Whatever it is, file it up till I get back. I need not to be disturbed for now.” Adrian tells his secretary, taking Laura to turn her gaze back to him with his statement, for she is of knowledge that he is doing it for her. “Thank you Heidi,” And Adrian ends his call, before turning his gaze back at Laura.

“You didn’t have to cancel everything,” Laura tells him as he ends his call.

“I didn’t have to, I needed to, for my full concentration would be on only you if I decide to multi task, and won’t get anything done.” Adrian speaks nonchalantly, as he is of no idea that the words which he categorize as meaningless, is one which pierces Laura’s heart every single time. “Yes, that reminds me,” Adrian picks Laura’s attention. “I requested something of you before we got married and I’m yet to have a response.” Adrian begins taking Laura to furrow her brows.

“And what could that be? Pardon me, I seem to have forgotten.” Laura inquires.

“Definitely, I can not expect you to stay idle now that you no longer work for Lucien, have you decided on what you would like to do?” Adrian questions Laura with his concentration mainly at her.

“Well I do plan on searching for a job when we get back,” Laura speaks, taking Adrian to go silent as he lets out a sigh. “What is it?” Laura inquires seeing Adrian’s dismissal.

“I’m not against you doing what you want, just like I told you I would support in whatever you want to do, but how do presume it will view to the eyes of others if I, your husband can not provide something on your own or work at my company, despite all the wealth I have?” Adrian inquires from Laura, as she goes silent hearing his words.

“I told you Adrian, I do not want you having to set up something for me just for reasons that I am your wife to the public, you do not owe me…”

“Exactly Laura, I do not owe you which means I want to do this willingly. All you have to do is say the word Laura and be it you want diamonds every single day, I will give it to you, not because you are my wife but because you are special to me.” Adrian tells Laura. Each of Adrian’s words that exit his lips, pierce deeper into Laura’s heart as she finds herself feeling something for Adrian she shouldn’t be at such an early stage. “What is your dream Laura?” Adrian inquires such an important question from Laura as indeed she finds herself asking the same question.

“Adrian…Adrian it’s Laura. I don’t know what’s wrong with her. I came by the house and met her on the floor unconscious.” Adrian’s gaze goes wide, as he gets up from his seat abruptly, hearing Aubrey’s words.

“What do you mean you met her unconscious?” Adrian with freight in his tone speaks.

“We were supposed to go out together and when I arrived, I met her lying on the floor. I’ve called 911 and their on their way, but you also need to get here fast. I’m scared Adrian.” Aubrey’s voice breaking as she speaks to Adrian, while the fear in him only increases.

“I’m on my way.” Adrian speaks with his appearance becoming disheveled. Adrian leaves Heidi whom stays in front him, while he leaves A and A corp In an haste, along with his phone dialing in his ear.

“911, what’s your emergency?” The line Adrian dials picks up, while Adrian places his emergency as he starts up the engine to his car. Adrian whom never has a reason to exceed his speed limit, do so at the evening time he is in, as his leg on the accelerator do not stay away from a minute before he speeds up again.

Adrian arrives at his mansion, exiting his car hurriedly and into his home, where he meets a darkness from every part of the room, and with no sight of where he is heading to.

“Aubrey!” Adrian’s voice fills the dark room, as when he decides to switch on the lights by himself, it comes on, taking Adrian to stare at his front in perplexity.

“Surprise!” Adrian stares at a room full with persons, as each, either represent a friend or family, while having a smile on their faces. “Happy birthday Adrian!” Adrian still staring in stun and perplexity remains silent, until when his gaze meets with Laura in a black sleeveless pencil dress when she walks towards him, and he finds words to speak, but only exit as a stutter.

Laura approaches him with a beautiful and welcoming smile on her lips, as all that rampages Adrian’s system is the relief of seeing her alive and well. “Happy birthday Adrian,” Laura’s voice comes soft, as she pulls him to her and into a hug, exiting a stunning chuckle from Adrian, whom slowly processes his present and his hands wrap around Laura.

“How? I thought…” Adrian not finding the right words to speak, stares at Laura lovingly.

“Well it was the only way I could bring you back home without being suspicious.” Laura says, staring back at the blue eyes of her husband. Laura takes Adrian closer to the crowd, as all Adrian feel is immense stun and happiness radiating from him.

“Didi, you’re also here.” Adrian kisses the cheek of his grandma, while she sits in her wheelchair.

“Of course I’m here. How can I miss the birthday of the century?” Fiona speaks with excitement in her, while holding her grandson’s hand. “How did you guys plan all these?” Adrian inquires taking his gaze to see the balloons, cake, gift and decorations of the house.

“It was all Laura idea.” Aubrey tells Adrian, as she snakes a hand to her brothers waist. “Happy birthday brother,” Aubrey wishes her brother, while he pulls her into a hug. Adrian’s gaze meets with the other guests present for his birthday, as cousins, and friends whom he least expects to see all stun him to be present.

“I called 911,” Adrian admits chuckling while others chuckle along with him.

“Well it was pretty convincing,” Aubrey’s husband whom is also present, speaks. “Man, look at you here in minutes.” Aubrey’s husband, Mark teases Adrian, causing them to chuckle even more. “Don’t worry, I understand. What can we not do for the ones we love,” Mark speaks, letting his gaze dwell on Aubrey, while a hand moves to her waist. Adrian’s gaze shifts to watch Laura vividly, as he stares at her converse with some of his friends, until her gaze locks with his taking her to stop her words and letting her gaze rest with his, while a smile stays on her lips.

The atmosphere of the room changes, when a soft music fill the grounds, only to change to another, taking some person to vibe with the present song. The surprise party for Adrian continues, as Laura can only feel a sense of accomplishment of having it successfully, such that her attention is taking away from Aubrey whom she speaks to after cutting the cake, when Adrain’s clicks his glass of wine and gazes move to rest on him.

“To say I am in stun will be an understatement, for I never expected such from you all. Hell, I even forgot today was my birthday for it is something I have not celebrated in a long while.” Adrian’s words come. “So falling for the trick is indeed easy on my side, yet hard for you all that planned all these and came. I just want to say a very big thank you to everyone of you, know that I am deeply honored and to also thank my beautiful wife, Laura.” Adrian’s gaze meets with Laura, as the room erupts in amusement.

“We didn’t start off at the right foot when we first met, but I tell you honestly from my heart Laura that everyday with you is something to be intrigued about. Your patience, manner and sophistication is something I have never seen, and each day you make me better even if you do not know, especially by slamming my money in my face all the time.” Adrian says taking the crowd to chuckle. “For that I say thank you.” Adrian ends, as Laura soon finds her eyes tearing at his words, such that whatever guard remains on her heart depletes instantly, while she stares at a man whom whom is capturing her heart and making her fall for him.

Realizing that she no longer sees Adrian as a contract husband, but someone she has heart is yearning for, Laura takes her gaze away from him for she knows that whatever Adrian speaks in public need not affect her, as it is all pretense, yet, it feels real that Laura can not control her emotions anymore, for no matter how she tries to deny her feelings, Laura comes to realization that she has fallen for a particular billionaire known as,
