Letting go.

1606 Words
The party ends, as the couple send their farewell to the guest whom attends, leaving the house to hold just Adrian and Laura. Adrian still with adoration in his eyes, meets Laura whom pours a glass of white wine for herself. “Hi,” Adrian speaks, coming to face Laura whom sends him a smile. “Hi,” Laura responds softly but sweetly. “I was in stun to have forgotten to say how beautiful you look,” Adrian compliments Laura, while earning her to blush. “Thank you,” Laura responds. “Aubrey tells me this was all your idea? How did you even know it was my birthday?” Adrian inquires a question which seems to be on his mind ever since. “While I visited Fiona last week, I saw her knitting and asked her whom it was for, which she replied it to be yours.” Laura tells Adrian. “She said it was a gift she wants to give to you on your birthday, which made me question when it was. Knowing fully you have everything it is you do need and I ran out of ideas on what to also get for you, then I inquired from Aubrey how a surprise party for you sounded. Instantly, Aubrey welcomed the idea saying you never celebrate your birthdays. At first I was skeptical on a celebration for I do not know the reason as to why you do not, but I was willing to risk it for it is the only thing I believe I can do to stun you.” Laura tells Adrian, as all he does is stare at her in mesmerization. “You do stun me Laura, each and every passing day and I meant every single word I said today.” Adrian tells Laura, taking her to realize something different in the way he looks at her, nevertheless, Laura dismisses it to be stun. “My childhood, wasn’t exactly the best, but that is a story for another day, but the reason as to why I do not celebrate my birthdays is because it falls on the day my father died.” Adrian begins, taking Laura’s gaze to sad. “I’m sorry I didn’t know…” “It’s not your fault Laura,” Adrian cuts Laura off seeing her actions becoming full with guilt. “He was Ill and he passed away, so whenever I celebrated my birthday, it felt as though I was celebrating his death, or at least that is what I envisaged when I was younger, but as I grew older, I came to realization that what happened was not I or anyones fault, for that I needed to let go of the thought.” Adrian tells Laura. “You doing this makes it feel like a fresh start and not the guilt I used to feel. So Laura, I am indeed thankful to you, for you made me to be able to do one thing which I couldn’t. Letting go.” Adrian adds, as Laura finds fulfillment enveloping her. “Well now I’m feel fulfilled. I was scared you were going to hate it.” Laura says, taking a chuckle to escape her lips. “How could I? When I have all theses gifts for me,” Adrian says, letting his eyes roam around the heap of gifts in the room. “Speaking of gifts, I have something for you.” Laura informs Adrian. “You didn’t have to Laura,” Adrian says. “I know, but it is something I have to do.” Laura says, taking Adrian to furrow his brows at her words. “Come with me,” Laura speaks before leading Adrian up the stairs and into her room, where she emerges with a mini box in her hand. “I am well aware that our marriage is just for a year and I accept that I did judge you wrongly when we first met, for that I was hesitant at your request.” Laura begins, as Adrian only remains in perplexity. “I don’t know how it came into my family, but I do know it holds great value to me which is why I want to give it to you and because it is yours from the very beginning.” Laura adds, while she hands over the box to Adrian, taking him to open it, and his gaze rushes back to Laura. “The ceremony is complete and Fiona placed it on my neck, for that, it is time I return what is yours, for I have seen proof that it belongs to your family Adrian and I can not continue to keep it with me.” Laura says, while Adrian stares at the necklace which Laura fought with him not to give, also one which is his family heirloom. “I can not accept this Laura,” Adrian speaks, taking Laura to stun while his gaze faces her. Adrian recalls how this particular necklace which she hands over to him is the very foundation of their relationship, for if she do give it to him, he feels he may loose the connection which he is building with Laura. On the other hand, Laura’s reason for handing over the necklace to Adrian is to slowly clear every source of attachment to Adrian after coming to realization about her feelings for him, for if it stays with her, she may find it harder to make up her mind. “The day Grandma placed this necklace on your neck is day it became yours. Yes it is my family heirloom, but you have become family Laura…” “For a year Adrian. I don’t want to…” Laura cuts herself in her speech, causing Adrian to become perplexed at her actions. “Be it a year or less or more, you are no longer just anyone to me Laura. And yes I do not know what the coming months will bring, but as I stand with you right now, I am certain of one thing, in which is you not leaving my side anytime soon.” Adrian tells Laura as his words makes it harder for her and her heart soon begins to heave at the complications he is giving her. Adrian picks out the necklace from the box, before circling Laura to have her back in face to him, as he unchains the necklace and places it gently on her neck, while Laura’s skin run with shivers at the cold touch of Adrian’s fingers on her bare neck. “Like I said before, we’re in this together and pretense or not, we are married. So Laura, what is yours is mine and what is mine is yours. Just like you are mine and I am yours.” Adrian’s fingers remains on Laura’s skin, as the breath from his words fan her ears sensually, causing Laura to remain where she stands with not a word escaping her lips. Adrian’s gaze remain permanently on Laura’s neck, viewing the smooth skin of her body, as an urge of want and desire slowing replaces his mind, such that Adrian slowly takes his other hand to curl Laura’s waist, as on reflex Laura saturates her back to him, while the two feel the build of euphoria between them. From where Adrian stands he views the side of Laura’s face, as the bridge of his lips slowly caress the skin on her temple. Laura closes her eyes shut, feeling a pool of wetness begin to fill the middle of her legs, while making effort not to succumb to feelings of her body. Adrian sees her actions, one which only intensifies the drive in him, taking him to turn Laura to face him, while his other hand run to caress her face. “Adrian…” Laura’s words come incomplete as all she feels is the euphoria of Adrian’s touch on hers with their gaze staring deep at each other. Her words, her gaze, her lips and every action of hers tempts Adrian to claim Laura, an action which goes against the contract the two signed, yet it is the least of any of their worries. Gradually, Adrian’s lips descend closer to Laura, until the bridge of his lips brush across Laura’s own, while Laura closes her eyes at the pleasure of such curt action. One will assume the two not to have experience what it feels like to kiss each other, as it is something they did experience at their wedding, yet, it is incomparable to their present moment, for the actions present at their wedding, is due to customary purposes. Adrian’s lips brushes even more against Laura’s own, until they eventually entwine with hers, letting Laura feel adrenaline surge in her, as her own hands move to hold Adrian around his torso. Adrian’s mouth goes deeper into Laura’s, while his hand roam around her back softly and dangerously. Laura is the one to break the kiss in order to catch her breath, while her eyes remains closed in reminisce of Adrian’s lips on her, and when her gaze opens, she meets with Adrian whom has his blue eyes staring directly at her with a smile on lips, before pulling her back to him and into a hug as he caresses her back gently, while Laura returns her hand to wraps around his torso. And no matter how the two prolong time to deny the attraction between them, with their new profound actions, it is about to become more than a contract, which they signed up for. ————————-
