France is quite different from New York, as Laura believes it's holds more of freedom than where she lives. Unlike being a French woman, whom needs to be prim and proper, in New York, no one actually cares if you don't cat walk as a lady, making it dwell to Laura that this is a whole new world.
The clicking and clacking of Laura's heels unquestionably gets the attention of both the workers and the person inside of A and A Corp, attentively on her appearance of wearing a salmon pink pant suit paired with a black stiletto, and of course her hair straightened down to reach her shoulders.
Laura is stunned by the magnificence and beauty of Adrain's corporation, but being a French woman, even if she never took any of the etiquettes of being one, she definitely took notes on not showing her admiration by looking around, rather, she keeps up her head high till she arrives at the reception.
In addition to Laura's bravery is of the certainty to her that she need not meet Adrian to hand him his package sent by Lucien, whereby, she can request for his secretary to hand it over to him.
"Hi." Laura greets the instant she arrives at the receptionist counter.
"Good day ma'am, how may I help you?" The male receptionist whom attends to Laura speaks with a genuine smile in his lips, one that Laura returns back.
"I have a package to be delivered to Mr Alimson from Lucien King." Laura hands over the packaged box which she know nothing of what it contains to the receptionist.
"Alright Ma'am, we would access this and deliver it to Mr Alimson, unfortunately he has not arrived for work yet." The receptionist speaks, whereas Laura retains her smile.
"That is fine." Laura responds.
"May I receive the name of the person delivering the package?" The receptionist further asks.
"Of course. I'm Laura Eduoard." Laura answers smartly, such that from where she stands she feels the gaze of the other receptionists glancing at her, as when she turns to meet one in the eye, she passes her a smile.
It is no news to Laura that wherever she goes, she is usually found attractive and beautiful, perks of her elegancy, which attracts attention to her. At first it felt awkward to Laura, but working at Lucien corp, has taught her the importance of what it is she has. It is just unfortunate that no matter her attractiveness, getting a good man to settle down with is still a problem.
"Alright Ma'am, it will be delivered to him as soon as he arrives. Is there anything else?" The receptionist inquires, while deep inside Laura, the feeling of happiness and calmness washes over her for not having to come in contact with Adrian,
"Not at all. Thank...you..." Laura's trials to show her appreciation gets interrupted when her attention is taken to notice the receptionists all looking elsewhere asides from the persons they are attending to, taking her own attention to follow their gaze, as when she do notice the reason for the receptionists actions, her gaze goes wide and instantly she takes her gaze away, yet, she is too late for she locks gaze once more with a striking handsomeness.
Adrian Alimson.
Adrian stops in his tracks, taking the men whom follow behind him also do the same, as he battles with contemplation of what is in front of him, rather who. Inches from where he stands, Adrian analyzes the woman in front of him to confirm his theory. Her height, the erectness of her shoulders and size of her body, Adrian confirms them to be a certain woman whom apparently his money can't persuade.
Laura Eduoard.
Seeing Laura's actions of how she has her head turned away from him, a smirk raises to Adrain's lips with curiosity of wanting to know what someone like Laura would be doing in New York. Adrian walks closer to Laura, to the extent he stands directly behind her, while his employees acknowledge his presence and it's takes no telling for Laura to know that she has been seen.
"Miss Eduoard," Adrian calls with a smirk on his lips. Laura turns gently to meet with Adrian, while she feigns to keep her composure intact.
"Hello Mr Alimson," Laura acknowledges him while her gaze finally takes in Adrian appearance. The blue suit he is wearing presses tightly to his body, with his hair gelled back to define the feature on his face, and exposing his thick eyebrows.
"What a surprise to see you here." Adrian adds.
"Yes. Mr Lucien ordered me to deliver a package to you, which I just did." Laura speaks, trying not to sound uncomfortable of his presence nor rude at the same time, considering the watching eyes.
"You mean Lucien sent you all the way to New York to deliver a package to me?" Adrian questions skeptically and in stun.
"Not exactly. I also have business for him to attend to here, which is why he asked me to deliver this in person. Apparently it's something of personal value to you and since you left France before your scheduled date, it was an opportunity which Mr king saw." Laura explains rhythmically.
“I see.” Adrian speaks, as one can hear the disappointment in his tone. Seeing Laura at his company, Adrian’s thought sifted to think Laura has decided to give her decision a second thought to handing over the necklace to him, but hearing her words now, he can’t help but feel dissatisfied at them. “And when will you be leaving for France?” Adrian inquires, while watching Laura tentatively.
“Tonight.” Laura Lies, for she refuses to take any risk which has any involvement to do with Adrian Alimson.
“In that case, I better show you around before you leave.” Adrian’s words take Laura by surprise and even himself, as stunning to him, he finds himself wanting the presence of Laura again, such that he makes such an offer when he has a tight schedule.
“My gratitude Mr Alimson, but you need not bother yourself. I am certain you have better and more important activities to get to than show me around a city which I would be leaving soon.” Laura places her words carefully but dismissively, but of course if Adrian agreed to whatever anyone decides, he definitely would not be at the position which he is in.
“Clear my schedule for today.” Laura’s gaze goes wide staring at an unbelievable man in front her whom is nothing but stubborn even after her dismissal to him. Laura chooses to open her mouth to speak, but Adrian gives her no room as he engages into discussions with a man whom is by his side, and once he done speaking with him, the three others that stay behind him all walk away.
“Shall we?” Adrian speaks with a sly smile on his lips especially with seeing the hard gaze on Laura’s face, and if looks could kill, Adrian would be under the ground.
Of course Laura could still deny, but how could she when prying eyes are on both she and Adrian, and knowing someone like Adrian the two of them is only going to argue, for Adrian would never accept to anything that isn’t his opinion.
Laura nods her head hesitantly but gently, before the two walk out of the building, leaving murmurs to grow louder and gaze to follow them of wanting to know whom Laura Eduoard is, to have someone like Adrian to clear his schedule.
“I would very much appreciate it if I can just be on my way to my hotel Mr Alimson.” Laura begins the conversation as the two get into Adrian’s Tesla, while having her eyes on him.
“Adrian,” Laura watches Adrian now his head down, while he corrects her once again about the manner to which she addresses him. “You don’t need the formalities Laura, which I have definitely told you earlier.” Adrian adds, while Laura finds no words to utter. “Do I make you uncomfortable Laura?” Adrian furthers with having his gaze rise to meet with Laura’s.
For a second, Laura gets lost into Adrain’s blue eyes, with such manner to which he stares at her. One of somewhat with want and audacity, which in turn gets Laura to feel something below her abdomen with just his stare.
“Yes,” Of course she tells the truth, which In turn takes Adrian by stun with her response, for no one has ever commented such with him, yet Laura beats his every expectation.
“May I know your reason for that?” Adrian faces Laura squarely, while his hands move away from the steering wheel to listen carefully to Laura’s words which drives him insanely curious.
“I believe it is customary for me to feel such way, regarding the way we came to know of each other. Also I can’t be comfortable around a man whom I barely know or understand, when at a second he seems calm and the next…,” Laura stops midway at her sentence as her gaze meets back with Adrian while he waits for her to speak. “Arrogant.” She eventually utters, whereas Adrian finds it hard to take his gaze away from her, when a scoff escapes his lips.
“You are the first woman to indeed call me, arrogant,” Adrian utters, finally taking his gaze away, making Laura to sigh at the self adoration present in his tone.
“Exactly, another reason why I refuse each of your proposals. You’re not a man to settle down Adrian Alimson.” Laura refuses to sugarcoat her words anymore. “Telling me to be your fiancé when you do not mean a word and everything is sports to you is something unbelievable….” Laura adds, as this time she neither fears Adrian nor care if her words comes harsh.
“And what if I told you I do not want you to be my fiancé,” Adrian asks solemnly as his gaze remains hard on Laura. Firstly, because he has never received such a challenge from a woman like Laura has just done and secondly, for the fist time ever, Adrian Alimson is about to speak a word he has never done in his entire existence.
“Then I would ask you what it is you want, so we can both move on with our lives undisrupted.” Laura responds.
“I want you to marry me.”
