Adrian Alexander Alimson.
A man whom walks into a room to have heads turn. A man whom get anything he desires. A man whom need not speak to a woman before she offers herself to him, yet, with Laura, it is the opposite, which of course even draws Adrian to Laura.
Her pronounced manner of speaking her mind, despite knowing of Adrian’s wealthy reputation, yet, she is neither fascinated by it nor enticed to please him. Something no one has ever envisage to do.
Laura stares at Adrian in utter anguish of his statement, such that the fans of her nose exhale while she breaths. She then runs a hand through her hair before sourcing ways to which she can place her words, which would not sound like Adrian whom seems not to be using his brain to think.
“I shall take my leave now.” Laura averts the need to argue with Adrian nor see reason to continue to sit there, when she has become familiar with Adrian’s thinking with how he doesn’t mind toying with others if it gets him some fun.
“No…don’t…,I mean just listen to me please,” At the sound of her words, Adrian words exist his mouth before he realizes the desperation in his tone.
“I can take whatever Adrian, but I can not take disrespect from anyone, be it the wealthiest man in the world or you toying with me to get your fun.” Laura speaks her words bluntly, showcasing her disapproval.
“I’m not toying with Laura. I would never do that. What do I have to gain by toying with you, clearing my schedule just so I can have a little time with you before you depart?” Adrian begins, as Laura stares back at him hearing his words. “I am solemn about my words to you.” Adrian adds.
“No Adrian, your main aim is to acquire my necklace and you do not care as to which stones you step on to get there. That’s what men like you do. You go to any extent to achieve what your goals.” Laura speaks with distaste, taking Adrian to go silent with the gaze of irritation present in her eyes.
Adrian remains silent, as the words of Laura rings in his head with her judgement to him, while Laura replicates the same action of silence when she realizes her words may have gone overboard.
Yet it is the truth.
“I can not coerce you to see more than you already do and I do place the blame on myself with the manner to which I approached you.” Adrian begins. “You are correct, the necklace which you have is what attracted me to you, and I would tell you the reason for that, not because I do want you to change your mind, but for me to justify myself of the judgement you place on me.” Adrian continues, whereas Laura run as a hand through her hair. “I have one more request to ask of you, but if you deny, I will understand and let you be.” Adrian adds, taking Laura to turn a gaze at him.
“I’m not giving up the necklace…” Laura begins with her tone firm, before Adrian cuts her off.
“And I’m not asking for it.” Adrian responds.
“What are you asking then?” Laura questions, having her full attention to what Adrian has to say, as deep within, she believes Adrian is about to request of her one of his selfish proposals.
“Can you accompany me somewhere?” Adrian eventually requests, while Laura gives him a skeptical gaze. “I promise, I mean you no harm. I want to show you something.” Adrian adds, seeing the gaze in Laura’s face. Laura sighs deeply, taking her gaze back and forth from Adrian and to her window, while she battles in what decision to make.
She could deny his request and not hear a thing from Adrain anymore, or she could find out the reason behind his desperation. After all, she is curious and if it is not to her liking, Laura makes up her mind not to keep up with whatever Adrian will have to say. Be it she tells him rudely or politely.
“Alright.” Laura gives her answer, taking Adrian to pass her a light nod before starting the engine of his Tesla. The ride to their destination emits inaudible with both of them not speaking a word.
Thoughts fill Adrian’s head, as the words of Laura keeps reminiscing his thoughts. Who is she? And how is she able to utter such nonchalant words to him? Right from his childhood, Adrian has always been one to stand out, down to his college days and up to this very moment, yet, he can’t quite figure out what makes Laura divergent.
On the contrary, Laura finds herself being mesmerized by the streets of New York once again. Not that she hasn’t been in the country before, but it seems there is something about the Country that fuels her drive to explore, which of course she’s not one to.
Adrian’s car comes to a stop, as Laura’s gaze travels around her environment, taking her brows to furrow at where they are.
“Is this our destination?” Laura inquires as her gaze moves back to meet Adrian’s.
“Yes.” Adrian answer peculiarly.
“Why are we at a hospital?” Laura furthers, with her perplexity rising.
“We’re here for you to fully understand the reasons for my actions.” Adrian answers vaguely, as it doesn’t answer Laura’s curiosity. “Shall we?” Adrian gesture for them to walk in. Laura doesn’t speak, but replicate Adrian’s words, as the two walk into St Lois specialist hospital down to a special private ward, which Adrian is quite familiar with.
“Looks like someone refuses to rest,” Adrian walks into the room with a smile on his lips, staring back at his grandmother whom sits in her wheelchair admiring the view from her room.
“Alexander,” Didi turns to meet gaze with Adrian, showcasing the amount of excitement on her face for seeing him, such that her full teeth comes to display.
“How are you?” Adrian squats down to meet Didi’s eye level, with his hands caressing her frail and fragile ones, whereas Laura can only watch the two, with bits of her curiosity coming to clarity.
“Can’t you tell for yourself. I’m glowing again.” Didi says, taking Adrian to chuckle and Laura to have a smile creep to her lips at the aged woman’s energetic level.
“Yes you are Didi, and glowing or not you are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” Adrian praises the old woman.
“Oh my sweet boy,” Didi takes her hands out of Adrian’s to caress his face softly, when her gaze moves to sight Laura behind him, taking Adrain’s attention away from his grandmother.
“Grandma, meet Laura, a friend of mine,” At the words of Adrian, Laura’s gaze goes wide at his introduction of her. “ Laura, meet my Grandmother,” Adrian completes his introduction as even if Laura wished to interrupt him, it seems late to do so.
“Hi, it’s nice to meet you ma’am,” Laura stares back at Didi with a warm and lovely smile on her lips.
“Oh please, my name is Fiona, you are going to make me feel old.” Didi says which gets Laura to escape a chuckle, one which Adrian reverts his attention back to her, upon seeing Laura laugh for the first time ever. A laugh so beautiful he wishes to see again.
“You have such a beautiful name Fiona.” Laura compliments to the aged woman, taking her to blush even more.
“And you are quite a beautiful woman Laura, one I believe is not from here.” Fiona says.
“You are correct, I am from France actually, but came to the country on a business trip.” Laura explains.
“Well I do hope my grandson is treating you well? Has he showed you the Canadaigua lake?” Fiona questions, as Laura’s gaze goes perplexed.
“Pardon, the what…” Laura gaze moves from Fiona to Adrian, battling to recover what Fiona has just said.
“How could you not have taken her there Alexander?” Fiona turns to Adrian with her gaze going into a frown.
“Didi, Laura hasn’t been in town for more than in a day, and she would be returning tonight,” Adrian tells his grandmother as Laura becomes uncomfortable at his over exposure of her departure, which of course is false, so as she could get rid of him, but now where he tells his grandmother, Laura can’t help but feel inferior for lying to the aged woman.
“Oh my, and I am beginning to love seeing another person asides my grandchildren. Another beautiful person to say.” Fiona compliments Laura such that her demeanor relaxes at the company of the aged woman. “In that case, you better take your seat while I tell you all about the lake, perhaps you might change your mind and leave another day.” Fiona says, taking Laura to chuckle lightly, that she isn’t told twice before she does take a seat and listen to Adrian’s Grandmother tell her all about a beautiful lake that seems surreal.
And which is how, Laura whom was hesitant to spend a second with Adrian, finds herself missing her so called flight back to France.
