Yong Jie looked at Yao Xue as they rode their horses. Yong Jie wasn't mistaken about how beautiful the white coat in Yao Xue. He looked like an angel s***h prince.
"I should have bought you a white horse." Yong Jie voiced his thoughts.
Yao Xue honestly didn't need the coat. He was water in nature in the first place and he could handle the temperature in Bing Guo well but Yong Jie just wouldn't stop buying things here and there for him. The coat was warm so Yao Xue didn't say anything.
"Don't waste your coins." Yao Xue said.
"I am not wasting any coins. The coat looks good on you and it's warm and it would be more fabulous if you're riding a white horse. In the next city, I will look for a white one for you."
"Yong Jie." Yao Xue warned and Yong Jie zipped his mouth and raised a hand on the air, his other hand on the reins.
"I surrender." Yong Jie said. "But even if I use all my coins, Young master Yao Xue will pay for me, right?" Yong Jie grinned and Yao Xue just stayed quiet.
"I guess that's a yes." Yong Jie muttered. He felt bored and the cold weather wanted Yong Jie to eat something warm to fill his cold stomach.
"Yao Xue, I want to eat hot pot." Yong Jie pouted like a kid.
"Later." Yao Xue said while Yong Jie continued whining for his hot pot.
They were heading to the north of Bing Guo where the latest news of demon's appearance, wiping an entire clan. News spread immediately around the country and reached the two cultivator's ears.
They passed a road beside two mountains and they both looked at each other when they smelt something unpleasant. The smell of blood.
Yong Jie and Yao Xue speed up and saw a carriage with five people dressed like they were from a prominent sect laying dead on the ground, their horses gone but one remained yet it was dead also.
Yong Jie slides out of his horse upon stopping and went to the idle carriage, lifting the red curtain. Yong Jie cried when he saw a man inside laying and he could still feel the man was alive.
"Yao Xue. Someone's alive inside." Yong Jie said and went inside the carriage, checking the pulse of the man.
It was faint yet there was still life. The man's other hand was useless. It was poisoned yet the man was clever to shut his meridians where the poison started in his body, stopping the flow of his blood on that area so the poison wouldn't spread entire his body yet a small amount of poison still slipped and it was slowly consuming the man.
"He's poisoned." Yong Jie said and carried the man out if the carriage that could only fit two people.
Yao Xue checked the man and confirmed that it was indeed poison and they needed to stop it from spreading.
Yao Xue could only stop the poison but he couldn't get rid of it from the man's body. Yao Xue recognized the owl badge on the man's robes. The Yan's family crest. Their manor was located on the east side of Bing Guo, a half-day away from their current location.
The group must have been traveling back to the Manor when they were attacked.
Yong Jie and Yao Xue, together with the man, went to the East of Bing Guo and the sun was setting when they arrived in the Yan manor. The huge wooden door had a carve of the family's owl crest symbol the same as the crest on the man's robe.
The Yan manor was in chaos hearing the news of their young master being missing on his way home. When the guards recognized their master, they opened the gates for Yong Jie and Yao Xue and a physician immediately attended to the man.
Yong Jie and Yao Xue remained in the grandeur hall with red curtains hanging on the pillars. Every detail of the hall was carefully designed in jade and gold plated things and a carved owl's head was on the wall on the back of the master's golden seat.
A man dressed in dark robes appeared and saluted to them. Yong Jie and Yao Xue returned the salute.
"We are all grateful to these two young masters for saving our master." The man said. "This humble young master is called Yan Li."
"Yao Xue of Xueguo Yao Sect." Yao Xue introduced.
Yong Jie smiled and almost extended his hand for a handshake but he was glad he stopped himself. "Yong Jie of Dashan Yong Sect."
"We owed these young cultivators a huge debt. Please don't hesitate to ask anything as a thank you gift."
Yong Jie turned to Yao Xue.
"There's no need. We would do the same to anyone in need of help." Yao Xue said and Yong Jie nodded.
"Our Yan clan would not agree to let young masters leave without repaying your kindness. Please." Yan Li bowed.
Yao Xue looked at Yong Jie. They knew the man would never stop asking about that repayment matter to them. Yao Xue didn't need anything so he turned to Yong Jie.
Yong Jie thought of anything he wanted then the white horse came in his mind but he shoves it away thinking Yao Xue would never like it and then he remembered that aside from the white horse, he wanted something else. Yan Lil did mention that they would give anything they ask.
"Then we want hot pot." Yong Jie said and Yao Xue curled the side of his lip in a small smile.
Yan Li stared at the smiling Yong Jie and the ice-cold Yao Xue and wondered how the two managed to be close since their auras and attitudes were way opposite.
"They Yan Li shall trouble these young masters to wait while our cook will prepare your meal." Yan Li said and Yong Jie smiled, nodding his head in excitement.
They watched Yan Li walked out of the hall to tell their cook. Yong Jie turned to Yao Xue and winked at the man.
"Who knew that that poisoned man is our ticket for a free hot pot? Lucky, isn't it?" Yong Jie grinned and Yao Xue flicked his sleeve and walked around one of the tables in the hall and sat silently.
Yao Xue was happy to see Yong Jie happy that he could finally have his hot pot since Yong Jie was whining about hot pot on their way and Yao Xue was thinking of restaurants in the North to eat hot pot.
They never thought that they would stumble into a young master from a wealthy clan.
Lucky, indeed.
