Yao Xue placed an old book on Yong Jie's table and Yong Jie picked and skimmed it. With only black ink of characters were found in the book, he felt so bored.l already.
Yong Jie thought that Yao Xue would teach him about those flying things or how to use swords. What else would he expect inside the library? Of course, it would involve books.
Yao Xue sat properly and elegantly in his place, beside Yong Jie. They have separate tables and Yao Xue started reading his own book.
The library was so quiet, it was deafening. Yong Jie frowned at Yao Xue.
"Yao Xue, I thought you're going to teach me? You just gave me a book." Yong Jie protested.
Yao Xue didn't even glance away from a medical book he was reading. He knew Yong Jie would protest. "Read it." He said.
Yong Jie looked at Yao Xue's calm expression as he reads. He looked so beautiful with his black hair properly groomed and tied with white ribbon and those fingers move as he turns the pages were delicate. Yong Jie was attracted to people with smooth and well-shaped hand and Yao Xue has those kinds of hands. He could develop a fetish. Yong Jie was staring for a few minutes and he only stopped when Yao Xue rolled his eyes to him.
"Not done staring yet? How about staring in your book instead?" He said.
"Nuh, I'd rather stare at your face." Yong Jie propped his elbow on the table and placed his head on his hand and continued staring.
"Yong Jie. Sit properly and start reading if you still want me to teach you." Yao Xue warned and Yong Jie sat straight and opened his book obediently.
The book was about qi and he learned a lot from the book. He glanced at Yao Xue who was so still as he reads and Yong Jie wondered what Yao Xue was thinking.
He looked around and saw a brush on the edge of the table and some light brownish papers and ink. Yong Jie wanted to write some notes because he couldn't remember everything he read. Yong Jie started writing on the empty sheet but he doesn't know how to use the bush.
For f**k's sake, he had been using pens as a medium of writing his whole life and not brushes.
He couldn't control the strokes and he was using too much space of the paper for just one character and it looked so horrible making him laughed at his handwriting and catch Yao Xue's attention.
Yao Xue glanced at the sheet and Yong Jie shrugged his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, I don't know how to use this thing. I'm not an artist." Yong Jie said and placed the brush down the table, giving up.
Yao Xue looked at the pages that Yong Jie read and he was already halfway to the end. Yao Xue closed his book and stood up.
"Yao Xue, where are you going?" Yong Jie asked, alarmed as he watched Yao Xue walked to a shelf and picked a rectangular box and grabbed two thin yellow papers and walked back to his seat.
"Do you remember what element is your qi?" Yao Xue asked making Yong Jie frowned. Yong Jie too read elements in the book, five pages ago.
"Element? I sort of forgot." Yong Jie scratched his head.
Yao Xue raised one thin paper and placed it on his table, dragging it to the center.
"This is a special paper that can tell what is your element."
Yong Jie picked the paper and scanned it. It just looked like an ordinary thin paper or more like a film.
"So, how does this work?"
"Let your qi flow in it." Yao Xue said and Yong Jie slumped his shoulder.
"How?"
"Concentrate and stop asking how. Did you read the book?"
"Of course." Yong Jie said.
Yao Xue placed the paper in between his fore and middle finger and in a flash, the paper turned into a transparent liquid and it dripped down Yao Xue's hand. Yong Jie was shocked and amazed at the same time seeing how Yao Xue turned the paper into clear water!
"That's cool!" He exclaimed, suddenly feeling excited to know what was his element.
If Yao Xue could do it, then Yong Jie too. After all, he wasn't in his past life where everyone was normal people who don't have supernatural powers unlike in this world. Yong Jie used to be a powerful cultivator so he should too.
Yong Jie mimicked how Yao Xue held the paper and watched it as he did his best to let his qi flow... but nothing happened.
"What are you holding your breath for?" Yao Xue asked and Yong Jie pouted. "Feel your qi in your core." Yao Xue said and tapped Yong Jie's abdomen making him sat straight suddenly.
He was surprised when Yao Xue touched him and felt strange that he could still feel the weight of his hand as if Yao Xue touched his bare skin.
Yong Jie threw all those weird feelings and nodded at Yao Xue.
Concentrating, he stayed still for a while looking at the paper and feeling the spot where Yao Xue pointed. He suddenly felt a chill flowing in his body and he immediately let go of the paper and screamed in surprise when suddenly fire started burning it from the top and the fire extinguished halfway of the paper after Yong Jie let go of it.
"s**t! Does that mean I am a fire type?" Yong Jie asked.
Yao Xue picked the half-burnt paper and nodded his head.
Yao Xue remembered someone the same element as Yong Jie. The fire element is one of the rarest among all the elements. One over a hundred would only have fire element and Yao Xue couldn't forget that one person who had the rarest color of fire.
Yao Xue ran over that stranger during a huge commotion somewhere in the northern region of the country next to Dashan, Wu Man country a few years ago. Almost one-fourth of the population was turned into man-eating demons that it raised an alarm to the neighboring countries.
Yao Xue help in suppressing the demons and together with other powerful cultivators from different sects, they tried to recover the victim's souls but it was already useless since the demons already killed the host after fully gaining its body.
In the middle of the purging the infected, one man in black robe suddenly entered the battlefield and purged the demons without using his sword. It was the first time Yao Xue saw a blue flame, the hottest color of flame.
It didn't only purge the demon's soul, it also burned down the whole body with nothing left but fine ashes.
