Chapter 5

Lily’s POV Finding the key to stop Aries from turning into that tyrant King is urgent. As soon as I finished dinner, I rushed back to my room to study Lucy’s memory with Cora together. When the night got deep, we finally went through all her memories. Obviously, Lucy didn’t like Aries that much or even hated him, so there’s not too much record about him. But we did find that Aries was sent to the West by the South King secretly to live with West Beta when he was 10. Even Lucy didn’t know the reason. The lucky thing was that we found a note at the end of Lucy’s memory book: Purifying his evil blood. That’s the only way to stop him from turning to the evil King. Why can’t we just kill him? This purifying thing sounds difficult. Cora whined in my mind. I frowned, “The note says purifying his blood is the only way, and the Moon Goddess said we can’t solve the problem by simply killing him. I assume killing him is now out of the option. Though I do want to kill him with my bare hands whenever there’s the opportunity.” I still hated him for killing my family and strangling me. Cora sighed frustratingly, Fine, let’s find a way to purify his blood. I really hope we can make it work. I consoled her then lifted up my head to check on the time. There was a well decorated clock on the wall opposite to my bed. I looked at it and found that the time had already past 3 am. “Oh, crap. It was so late. Let’s go to sleep and figure something out tomorrow.” I said that, then got up from the chair. Cora hesitated before she spoke, Since we’ve already read all Lucy’s memories, then I guess I should tell you that Aries is now outside of the door. She said that with a reluctant tone. I knew she hated him as much I did. I was surprised hearing that, “When did he come? How long had he been here?” Well, he came around 9 o’clock, so he has stayed outside for 6 hours. “Six hours?” I widened my eyes at this shocking news,“Why didn’t he knock? And why didn’t you tell me?” We were busy reading Lucy’s memories. And he scares me. I don’t want to meet him at night. I thought he might leave after a few minutes, but he just stayed. I have no idea what he is up to. Cora pouted with dissatisfaction. I sighed, then decided to go out to meet him. It was true that I hated him very much, but I guess I needed to found some kind of relationship with him to figure out how to purify his damn blood. Watch out, Lily. He’s dangerous. Cory warned me as I approached the door. I tried to comfort her as well as myself by some unsolid excuses, “I guess it’s okay. He hasn’t turned to that evil King yet. He won’t hurt us.” After that, I took a deep breath, then twisted the doorknob carefully. Though I told Cora he wouldn’t hurt us right now, I knew nothing about him by far, so no guarantee of that. The lock clicked sonorously in the silent night and the door opened a c***k with my motion. Being afraid of facing that horrible creature directly, I held my breath then peeked through the c***k discreetly. The hallway outside was decorated with huge windows with clear glass. The sliver moonlight was spilled all over it, making the hallway as bright as the day. I craned into the hallway carefully and observed it intently. Soon I found that “terrifying monster” at the end of the hallway. He settled himself in the corner of it, curling himself into a ball with both his hands hugging his own arms to keep warm. His head tilted against the cold stone wall, exposing all his delicate facial lines to me. I saw his eyes fluttering shut and his brows twisted into a tight knot, suggesting he wasn’t sleeping well at all. I guess no one could in this cold stone hallway in the middle of such a harsh winter’s night. Him freezing to death in his sleep was something I’d love to see, but it won’t stop him from turning to that Winter King. I frowned, then pulled the door open reluctantly. I walked to the corner then squatted beside him. Observing him at such a close distance under the beautiful sliver moonlight made my heart pump as he was such a cute wolf who looked absolutely nothing like that bloodthirsty Winter King. So how could that happen and why did he turn? If he wasn’t that atrocious bastard, I might actually fall for him. I mean, it’s difficult to reject such a cute wolf to be your mate. “Aren’t you staring enough?” Suddenly, he opened his eyes and pierced his sharp gaze right into mine. His voice sounded clear and powerful like he wasn’t asleep at all. It frightened me. I almost jumped up from the floor, “Why are you sleeping here? Don’t you have your own bedroom?” It took me some time to recall why I am here with him in this freezing hallway. He arched his brows first, then smirked, “You haven’t done playing your little game? Aren’t you tired of it?” “What game?” I was so confused. Cora reminded me, Your bedroom is his bedroom. You’re married, which means you two are now sleeping in the same bedroom. I froze at Cora’s words and I hope he didn’t notice it. Because that’s so not Lucy. He continued his speech, “I said I wouldn’t enter your room until you say so, then I’ll obey it. No need to test me in the middle of the night at the cost of your own sleep, Your Highness.” He addressed me as “Your Highness”, but his tone was utterly disrespectful. I should have been annoyed by him by now. But I’ve read Lucy’s memory and learned how awfully she treated him. It’s difficult for me to get mad at his disrespect. “Well,” I tried really hard to squeeze those words out of my teeth, “You can come into the bedroom now. I hate there is someone outside while I am sleeping.” Cora whined in my mind as she hated to have him get close to us. Yet, the winter night was too cold to let him stay there all night. He might actually freeze to death or get sick because of that, which would make him resent me so much more. That was definitely not a good option if I ever wanted him to be “purified”. Aries said nothing at my permission but put her hands against the wall to gain some support to prop himself up from the cold floor. That’s when I saw those horrible frostbites on the back of both his hands. It’s difficult to get wolves injured by normal methods unless there was sliver or witch curses involved. These frostbites told me bluntly that he was as weak as a human. That’s another thing I didn’t expect from him. “How did you get those frobites?” After standing up from the floor following his motion, I couldn’t help but ask him curiously. He casted me a hatred glance which frightened me, then quickly went to the bedroom door.
