Chapter 8

Leah’s P.O.V

  When we finally got home the buzzing noise was so bad that the migraine I was having was also causing me pain in both of my temples. I pulled up at the front of the pack house and just as I was about to get out Jersey started sniffing the air, making us all look at him like he was nuts. His brown eyes seemed to be glowing, but before any of us could ask him anything he jumped out of the Jeep and rushed into the pack house. All of us followed suit and we didn’t know what was going on or what was going to happen until we got inside, but the second we did we saw that Jersey had his arms wrapped around a long brown haired girl. Judy started to laugh as she watched what was going on, but then the same thing happened to her. This 6.2, short haired male with hazel eyes came rushing into the room growling.

  “MATE! MINE!” He said, looking directly at Judy. He rushed over to her and her hazel green eyes went wide with fear, as she was like me and hadn’t shifted yet. Her birthday was a few days after mine, so I knew she would be a little scared about this, but as he wrapped his arms around her she seemed to relax a little.

  “Are you okay? How are you feeling?” I asked, mind-linking her and then I saw her smile softly.

  “Yeah, I’m okay, just a little freaked out, but I’m okay. I’ve been hearing my wolf all night and her name is Nasi, she has confirmed that she thinks he is my mate. I know I have been a little quiet today, but I kept hearing this annoying buzzing noise and then she broke through and spoke to me.” Judy replied, mind-linking me back and explaining what was going on with her.

  “That's been happening with me today too, I have a migraine from it as well.” I said, now understanding what this was.

  “That's your wolf trying to break through, just let it happen and it will be okay.” Judy replied and I nodded. I ended the link just as my mom and dad ran into the room to find out what all the commotion was about, but they stopped dead in their tracks when they saw what was going on.

  “Oh Judy, good for you, honey and Jersey, it's about time you found your mate.” Dad said and we all laughed. We all took a seat to tell mom and dad everything that happened while we were at the mall and when we got back home as well.

  Kodi’s P.O.V

  I was laying in bed watching Nascar and enjoying the race with a beer. This time they were in Daytona and it was a really good race, but my attention was quickly taken away from the race when I heard her voice and smelled the same intoxicating smell that I smelled at the fight. 

  “Damn it, why couldn’t the race have ended before she came home? There's only seven laps to go.” I said to myself, sighing. My wolf Elliot was going nuts in my head and I was having a hard time trying to keep control.

  “MATE!! YOU NEED TO GO TO MATE!!! MATE!! NEED MATE!! NOW!!!” Elliot shouted in my head, trying to take over. I needed to get him under control or Goddess knew what he would do when we actually came face to face with her. I took a few deep breaths and finally managed to calm him down after a few minutes before getting off the bed and leaving the bedroom. I followed the scent of my mate to the family room and that's when I saw my cousin in the arms of some guy I had never seen before, but something told me that she had finally found her mate. My light blue eyes landed on Leah and I couldn’t look away. She was not only beautiful, she was breathtaking. I heard someone talking, but it was like she and I were the only ones in the room and that was when she looked over at me and smiled. My thoughts came back to me when Alpha Brandon nudged me forward.

  “Leah, this is Alpha Kodi, Alpha Kodi, this is my daughter Leah. I invited him to watch you shift and he also brought his cousin, Lisa as well as his Beta and top warrior.” Alpha Brandon said and Leah smiled as she looked at the others, but her eyes kept looking in my direction and then she suddenly excused herself. She suddenly ran out the room and Luna Carla quickly followed behind her, but it left me and my wolf feeling hurt, rejected and worried. Didn’t our mate like us? Could she already feel the bond or was she reacting that way because she couldn’t feel the bond?

  Leah’s P.O.V

  I don’t know why but as soon as Alpha Kodi walked into the room I had this strange feeling, like I wanted him to be near me, kiss me and to hold me. It was really weird as I had just met him and then suddenly it was like a veil had been lifted and I knew. I felt this sudden break or snap in my mind and my wolf came through. Did he do that?

  “Well, it's about time. Sorry I’m late, but I have been trying to break through for some time now. My name is Ashy and I am your wolf.” She said, talking in my mind. I was a little freaked out and didn’t know what to do, so I just excused myself and ran out the room. I rushed into my room and had no idea that I was being followed until I sensed my mom was in the room with me. I ran to her and buried my face in her neck, which caused her to know that something was wrong because I always did that when I was worried or scared. She pulled back slightly and walked us over to my bed, sitting me down on the edge and then grabbed the chair by my desk, sitting in front of me.

  “What's wrong, sweetie?” Mom asked, taking my hands in hers.

 “I don’t know, mom, but when I saw Alpha Kodi I felt like I needed him close to me. I wanted him to hold me like Jersey was holding Lisa or how that guy was holding Judy. I also wanted him to kiss me, but then I felt like something snapped or broke inside me and my wolf pushed through. She said her name is Ashy and she told me that she has been trying to get through for some time.” I replied, explaining everything, but she just chuckled at me.

  “It's okay, honey. Sometimes your wolf can come to you anytime between a week before or on the day of your first shift. So, her name is Ashy, that's an adorable name for a wolf and how are you feeling now?” Mom asked, but I just shrugged.

  “I’m happy my wolf has come forward, but I’m confused about Alpha Kodi and the feelings I have. I don’t understand them, so maybe it's best for me to stay away from him until I can get them sorted out.” I replied, but mom seemed to have a look of worry on her face.

  “Honey, I don’t think that's a good idea. I...I...oh shit...right, okay, you are going to find out soon enough anyway, so I think it's best if I tell you why you are feeling this way and why it's a bad idea to stay away from him. Honey, he’s your mate.” Mom said, rendering me speechless. Mate? Him? Alpha Kodi is my mate? Seriously? How?
