Chapter 27: Fighting Demons.

It's 5 o'clock. They arrived at the sealed portal. Dream check the portal once again and it still sealed tightly. He then talk to Elaine about the situation.

"It's still sealed. From the energy it emitted, They should be here around 2 more hours?"

"Yup. That sound correct to me. Let's set a barrier around here so it would be more safe."

"Okay."

Everyone grabbed a barrier core and split up. They put the Barrier core 1 km from the Portal. Giving them enough room to fight the Demons.

After done putting up the Barrier, They meet up beside the portal once again. Then, They move on to the next plan.

"Dream, Jasmine. Set up a magic trap. The rest of us will build a physical trap."

"Okay!"

With that, Ray, Lily, Elaine and Krim started to dig the ground. Dream and Jasmine set up a trap in the sky.

Jasmine set up a well timed Fire Dragon while Dream set up High Pressured Water Dragon. It's a simple but deadly trap.

It took them 1 hour and 30 minutes to set up all of that trap. Then, They jumped to the tree and wait for them to come out.

Demons is really hard to deal with without proper plan. They're not exactly smart either so, It's easy to bring them down if you had plan like Elaine.

In Theory, The Demons will comes out from the portal. Because they can't see what outside the portal, They will walked off the edge into the deep hole that Elaine made.

Demons can also fly. So, there's where Dream and Jasmine trap comes in. Hopefully, Their Dragons can destroy their wings. If that plan succeeded. It would be an easy fight. But if that plan failed, They will have a slightly harder time because they can't move in the air that freely.

"So. In order to increase the chance of our plan. I will use my Bow of Invidia to automatically track their wings and shoot it with a single arrow. Hopefully that should be enough to take out their ability to fly."

"Yeah that's a good plan. But, Be careful. Demon was known for their special magic called 'Destruction Magic'. If you're not careful, You know what would happen."

Everyone nodded at Dream and Elaine. At 15 minutes mark before the gate open. Dream called the Bow of Invidia.

"Yoga. Can you add Auto Tracking to these arrow?"

'Yes I can! Once the Demon comes out, I will add auto tracking."

"Thank you."

Dream hold the bow up. Black String and A magic arrow appear. He pull the Arrow Back and charge the arrow.

The arrow has the colored black. With the shape of a javelin. The aura of the arrow become stronger. The color become more dark as the charging went on.

15 minutes passed. Dream still managed to keep that form for that long. Without letting the arrow go.

Dream was pissed by the Demons. He's started to get bored holding the arrow. He felt like he just want to let the arrow go.

But then. The portal started to open. The color change from black to purplish black. Then, Humanoid figure with horn and wings walked out from the portal.

All 20 of them walked out.

"Now!"

Elaine screamed. The floor dropped on their feet.

"Eh?"

The Demons let out a stupid sound. Then, From the sky. Bunch of Fire and Water Dragon was coming down to the hole.

"AAAAAAH!"

The Demons Screamed when they look Fire and Water Dragons soaring down from the strike to hit them.

Both Dragon hit the ground. The Dragon let out a huge explosion.

"Yoga. Add Auto Tracking right now."

'Okay!"

Dream let out the arrow. The arrow fly in an incredible speed toward the Hole. It spins around the hole couple of times. After it Vanished, 5 Demons crawl up from the ground. With their wings full of holes and their body bleeding.

Everyone jumped to the ground. Revealing their identity.

"Eh? Only this much? Man... These guys must be so weak since a trap in that level managed to kill 15 of them."

Elaine said toward the Demons. The demons look at her pissed.

Their hand glow. That mean one thing for them. They're about to unleash their Destruction Magic.

Ray immediately charged at one of the demons. Ray quickly sliced off both hands of the Demons.

"What?!"

The Demons can't hide his shocked.

Ray then stab the neck of the demon with his swords.

He summon the Red sword. He throw the sword to the air and kick it to the throat.

He does that to gain Style Point from everyone. Everyone was amazed by Ray attack.

Lily quickly charged to one of the demon with her Katana.

The Demon shoot his Destruction Magic toward Lily. Lily accelerate faster and circled around him. Explosion appear in front of the Demon where he shoot the magic.

"Eh?"

Before he notices it. He look at his body standing up. As the body fall down. He notice that his head was on Lily katana. He then died on the spot.

"So fast! Even the Demon didn't notice he died."

Dream was amazed by Lily sword.

Then. Jasmine and Krim work together to kill one of the demon. Jasmine let out multiple Fire Dragon and launch it at the Demon. The Demon shoot the Fire Dragon with his Destruction magic.

While he was distracted by that, Krim circled behind him and sliced his neck of with her daggers.

"Not bad. Good Team work."

Dream was commenting everyone fight while The Demon in front of him was tied up with Chains.

Then he look at Elaine. At that point in time, Elaine already killed the Demon just by punching a hole in his chest.

"Uh... Miss. That was gruesome."

"I mean. You're the one to talk! You just tied up a demon and let him watch his comrades died."

Elaine commented on Dream sick behavior.

"I mean, I just want to let him know that, Attacking the Human Realm is dangerous! That's why I let him live for this long. Well, Not too long."

Dream vanished. The Demon was shocked by that. The Chains that tied him up was gone. He was getting ready to bail out to the portal once again. But, Before he could run. The portal vanished.

"Oh.. No.."

The Demon fall down to the ground.

"Well, It's time to die. Demon."

Dream shot the Demon in the head with his Bow of Invidia. Killing the demon in the spot.

"Well, That was easy. I can't believe we need 2 hour to prepare everything... The Barrier ended up useless."

Dream said while looking at the corpse of the Demons.

"True. 15 Lower and 5 Medium. It's easier than we thought the fight is going to be."

The 15 Lower ranked Demon was killed by the initial Dragons. While the 5 Medium one managed to survive the Dragons and the Arrow. That's the differentiate between the ranking. Lower is so easy to kill while Medium you need to add some extra work.

"Well, Let's clean this up and went back to the Academy."

Elaine said. Everyone dump the bodies to the hole and Jasmine burned it to ashes. They pick the Barrier core up and went back to the Academy.

Dream sat down at the Student council room alone by himself while the other join Elaine lesson.

He get letter from his hometown. So, He take time off to read the Letter.

"From, Mom. Let's see what she wrote."

Dream read the letter.

"To Dream. We're moving out from Examate to Nova. Thanks to the money you and Lily give, We managed to find a house that we can buy. I expect to see you soon. The Address is written down below. If you want to visit us, Make sure to bring Lily with you! From Mother."

Dream was shocked by that letter.

"What?! They moved here? And the Address... It's just 5 minutes from the Academy?! I should visit them later!"

Dream immediately close the letter. He go to his room and put the letter there. He then jumped from his window and ran toward the Field.

He then meet up with Lily and speak to her.

"What's up Dream?"

Lily ask Dream who's running toward her.

"Well, How do I say this... My family moved here... Do you want to visit them today?"

Lily nodded. And then, Her face changed.

"They moved here?!"

Lily raised her voice.

"Yeah... The Address is 5 minutes walk from here."

"Oh! Let's visit them!"

"Okay then. We're going to visit them later. I hope they have unpacked their stuff."

Lily went back to training. Dream went to Elaine and help her teach the students.

Then, After training for 2 hours. Everyone meet up in the Student Council Room.

"So... Why is everyone here?"

Dream ask. He look at Ray, Jasmine and Krim.

"I heard you want to visit your parents? Lily asked us if she want to join so, We thought it would be fun if we join."

Ray said. Dream look at all of them weirdly.

"You guys... Do whatever you want. Let's go then."

Dream immediately surrendered before he can stop them. So, He told them to follow him. All of them went out the gate and head right.

After couple more turned, They arrived at a medium sized house. With grass on the front. It's a normal looking house and the feeling they get from the house is 'Cozy'

"Hmm.. This is where they live huh."

Dream walk to the door and knock exactly 3 times.

"Yes~ Who's there?"

The sound of a woman can be heard from inside. Dream immediately respond to that question.

"This is Dream Enpierce! Mom? Are you there?"

"Ah! Dream!"

Immediately, The door opened. Luna went out and immediately hug Dream. Lily walked toward Dream and Luna.

"Ah hello Lily!"

Luna immediately let Dream go and hug Lily.

From behind Dream, He can hear Ray talk.

"Oh! Lily and Dream parents actually get along... That's... nice..."

Hearing that, Jasmine and Krim look at him awkwardly.

Dream look at Ray and say.

"Yo Man. Sorry. I don't know what happen between you and Eis Parents but, I just want to say sorry."

"No... It's alright..."

Dream chuckled at his best friend pain.

"Well. I haven't meet her parents yet. So, There's a chance that I might end up like you Ray."

"I doubt it. You're famous Dream. Plus, You're strong too. I bet you can easily beat her parents in a Duel."

Ray said awkwardly.

"Did you lose against Eis father?"

"I'm afraid that I would... This Sunday, He will come to our academy and have a duel with me. If I lose, He won't accept me dating Eis. So, I must win no matter what."

"Well, Good luck."

Luna told them to go inside. They immediately went inside the house and go to the Living Room.

"So all of them is Dream friends?"

"Yes! This one is Ray, This is her little sister Krim, and she's Jasmine. All of us are in the Student Council and Dream is the president."

"Really?! Dream. I'm proud of you!"

Luna patted Dream on his head. Dream let out some of his dissatisfaction. But, He let her do it.

Everyone look at him with a warm eyes. Dream was uncomfortable looking at the other.

"By the way Mom, Where's the others?"

Dream ask.

"Harry is currently in the Blacksmith. He found a job there as soon as we moved here. Miles is in a restaurant. She also got a job as soon as we moved here."

"How about Shia?"

"Shia is sleeping right now. Do you want me to call her for you?"

"No... It's alright. Let her sleep."

Dream said with warm eyes. Everyone was wondering about who that was. So, They look at Lily.

"It's his Step father, and Sisters."

"Ooh..."

After that they stop talking. They focused on Dream, Lily and Luna interaction. It seems like Ray was looking really seriously at them. Jasmine and Krim look awkwardly at him.

"By the way Mom. If Sister suddenly bring back a man, What would you do?"

"Eh? Why did you ask?"

Hearing Dream ask that. Ray jolted.

"You see, Ray have a problem with his Girlfriend parents. It seems like in order for them to recognize him as their daughter boyfriend, he need to defeat her father first."

Then, Luna started looking really serious. It seems like she had a lot of wisdom to share with everyone.

"Listen here young man. If you have that kind of problem with your girlfriend parents. The only thing you want to do is, Answer their challenges. The reason why they test you like that is to protect their daughter. So, You better beat their ass to the ground!"

After telling Ray some serious things, She ended up giving him a goofy face and put her thumb up toward Ray.

"Believe in yourself!"

"Yes!"

Ray face brightened up.

"You hear that Ray? Beat her father up! If you need help, Call me!"

"Dream, You shut up. My mood just brightened up and don't you dare darkened it again!"

Ray stared sharply at Dream. Everyone laughed at that.

Then, Harry and Miles arrived.

"Oh! Dream!"

Miles jumped toward Dream. Dream caught her. Then, She sat down. Harry comes in with surprised face.

"Who do we have here?"

"They're Dream friends. They're the persons that always have Dream back."

Everyone introduce themselves.

"Nice to meet you! I'm Miles Enpierce! Dream big sister!"

Miles said with great excitement.

"Hello, I'm Dream Step-Father. My name is Harry Enpierce. Nice to meet you all."

Harry said politely.

"So, how's the house been mom? Is there something bothering you?"

"No. Not at all. We're really fortunate that nothing went wrong with our moving process!"

"That's great to hear. If someone started showing up and bothering you, Just send me a message. I will take care of it immediately."

"Okay! I will count on you when something like that happen!"

The last thing that Dream want to see is his family is getting taken somewhere because something that they didn't do. And everyone probably didn't want to see Dream reaction if something like that happened.

There's a big chance that a war between him and Nova started. Nobody wanted to see that.

They stay there for quite some time. Then, They were ready to leave.

"Well then mom. It's nice seeing you. I will visit you again later. Say hello to Shia for me!"

"Yes. Take care Dream!"

Dream waved his hand to his family and then left with everyone.

"Your family is surprisingly wholesome."

Ray said.

"Of course they are. They're just a simple villager before this."

"Really? I thought your parent would be like you too. Leaking out intense bloodlust as they walk."

"Of course not you dumb dumb. I'm the only one like that. They're just a simple villager."

Ray thought on Dream family changed. He wasn't expecting Dream family to be kind and warm. Not like Dream who sometimes can be cold and really scary.

The next day. They do their usual stuff. Training, Having meeting. Then, After that meeting, Ray say something to Dream.

"You want me to train you?"

"Yeah. I can't afford to lose to Eis father!"

Dream stared at Ray eyes. His eyes was full of conviction.

"Sure. I'll train with you. So, Do your best to keep up!"

"Alright!"

Dream and Ray immediately went to the Gym.

Ray immediately take out his Green and Blue sword. Dream take out his Halberd of Ira.

"Come!"

Ray screamed. Dream smirked and immediately charged at Ray.

"Try blocking this!"

Dream swing his Halberd Down. Ray crossed his swords to block the Halberd. Then, he immediately swing the swords to the side.

"Good. Now, This one!"

Dream spin his Halberd on his hand. He then started to move without any Rhythm. Ray was confused by his movement. Then, He feel a danger on his back.

He spin around and swing his right sword down. It push Dream halberd down.

"Great job Ray. Next!"

Dream thrust his halberd multiple time. Ray keep swinging his swords around to block the thrust.

Dream smiled at him. Ray immediately get chill down his spine. That indicate that Dream was about to get serious.

Dream hold his halberd really close to the end of the handle. Ray was wondering what Dream was doing since this is the first time he seen this technique.

"This is one of my strongest technique Ray! Block it or you'll die!"

Dream was emitting some bloodlust at him. Ray gulped loudly. But, Fire inside his eyes only burned brighter.

"COME!"

He screamed toward Dream. Dream smiled really big while charging at him.

Dream movement is really fast. By the time he get close to Ray, The Halberd was halfway down.

"Dream Style: Sky Eater."

He swing the halberd with all of his power and might. The halberd seems to vanish. That's how fast it is.

Ray suddenly realize.

'Ah... I'm dead...'

Then suddenly, without him knowing, The world seems to slow down. His body was moving on his own. His arm muscle seems to bulge. He change his swords. He put away his Green and Blue sword and grab his Red Sword.

He grip the handle tightly with both hands.

He then Swing his Red Sword with all of his might. He swing it at Dream's Halberd.

The two weapon clashes. Ray sword hit the top of the halberd. Altering the direction of the halberd.

As the Halberd hit the Ground, The Ground splits into two.

Dream was shocked by that move.

"You Manage to parry my Sky Eater..."

Dream said in amazement.

"Ray?"

Dream look at him who is bleeding from his nose.

"Are you okay?!"

Dream immediately check on Ray. Ray was breathing heavily from his mouth.

"Did... I... Manage to beat you?"

Ray ask... Dream smiled at him and said.

"Yes. You beat me this one time. Good job."

"Heh... Great then..."

Dream fall down to his back. Dream catch him before he can fall down completely.

"Heh... Good job."

"Thank.. You... My last strike... Is an unexpected one..."

"Do you feel the world slowing down?"

Ray nodded.

"Don't forget that feeling. Once you get inside the state of Life or Death, People tend to feel that feeling. If they manage to avoid that Death, They will learn a new way to block enemy attack. That's what you achieve today."

Dream explained. Ray seems to be better now.

"Really? That's great then."

"What do you call your technique?"

Ray stopped talking. It seems like he was thinking what the name of his new technique should be.

"I decided. I'll call it, 'Absolute Counter' How about that?"

"Yeah. Good enough. From now on, The strike that manage to beat me, Shall be known as Absolute Counter."

Dream pull Ray up from the ground. He gave him a high grade potion to stop the nose bleed.

He drank the bitter potion and let out stupid expression. Then, The blood stopped flowing out.

"Well then Ray. Use that technique carefully. If you're not careful, The same thing will happen to you again."

"How do you neutralize the effect?"

"Train to use it. My Sky Eater is like that too. First time I use it, My whole arm was shattered. So I trained to use my Sky Eater to the point that I can use it freely."

"Got it. So I just need to use it over and over again."

"Well, Kinda. Just, Be careful."

Dream and Ray went back to their own room. Dream take a bath and immediately went to the Cafeteria. He spend time with Lily and then go to sleep.

He smiled a bit when remembering Ray current strength.
