Chapter 16: Summer Competition.

"Yes. Ray said that he will join the competition. He also said that he will pick the player himself."

After hearing that from Krim, Dream thought to himself.

'I knew he would join.'

"Thank you Krim. See you later."

After meeting with Krim the next day, Dream immediately search for Ray. He should be around here with 9 other people.

Dream walked toward the gate of the Academy and immediately saw a bunch of girls gossiping about one person.

'Hey do you see? In the registration booth there's a really handsome person?'

'Yeah I see that. He was with 9 other people. I think they want to join the competition.'

Elaine already announced the competition yesterday. People were surprised hearing the competition. This is the very first time she does something like that. Moreover, It was really surprising because it was so sudden.

"Oh Ray already there huh. Better be quick."

Dream immediately vanished from the gate. As soon as he arrived at the Registration Table, He saw Ray and their team.

There's some of player from Team B as well. It look like Ray pick the best member available.

"Ray!"

"Dream. Come here."

After Greeting Ray, Ray immediately grab Dream to the registration table.

"Here. Write your name."

Dream write his name. Then the receptionist take the paper and give Everyone a tag.

"Please wear this on your uniform. When your match come, This will be the proof that you are a participant."

The receptionist said. They put the tag in their pocket and go back.

"The competition will be held in 2 days. Wear the tag then. Understand?"

Dream explain to Ray and other. It seems like they don't understand what the receptionist said.

After hearing Dream explanation, they nodded.

"Then, In 2 days, we will meet on the gate."

"Alright!"

Other than Ray, The team immediately went back to their way. Ray went with Dream because he want to meet Krim.

After meeting Krim, Ray decided to spent his time with her little sister. Dream went back to his room.

After doing something in his room, He went toward the Student council room to talk with people.

2 days passed. Dream met up with the team near the gate. All of them already wearing their uniform. On their chest is the tag that said 'Participant'.

They wear a jacket to cover the uniform they were wearing.

As they were walking to their locker room, People were staring at them. Everyone recognize Dream. But what they were surprised about is Ray and the others.

Dream already strong enough on his own. Having a team mean that he would become stronger.

"Well, You should know the strategy already. Dream and Ray is going to be our core for attacking. So we need to focus on defending."

Cid said. Everyone nodded.

'It's nice when people know what they were doing.'

Dream thought.

The announcer called Their Team.

"Let's go."

Ray said with a calm voice. All of the member immediately said 'OOOO!' in excitement.

They walked out slowly. When Ray come out, The girls immediately scream. Dream comes out, The Scream become louder.

Their opponent is a team that consist of the student of Million Years academy. All of them is seniors.

The kick off started with the Senior get the ball. From the get go, They immediately play like it was a last minute tactic.

They kick the ball as hard as they could toward the goal. The ball seems like getting to the area they intended to. But, No one was there. Because of the sand, Their movement was restricted. They was falling short behind the ball.

Cid Immediately went to grab the ball. Immediately, A huge guy block him. He immediately pass the ball to the side.

A blonde senior immediately shoot it. It drills the right side of the goal.

"Hee... That tactics look good. If only you are in the usual condition."

Dream made his thought from observation. Dream looked at Ray like he was signaling something. Ray looked back at him and nodded.

"Oh look. They will do something!"

Lily said. She was in the viewer seats with the student council and Krim.

"So Krim, He is your older brother?"

Eis ask.

"Yes. He's Ray Ioda. My older brother."

Hearing that, Eis just nodded.

"Now, Let's see what they're going to do."

Lily said to them. They immediately focused on Dream and Ray.

The goal keeper gave the ball to Dream. Ray immediately started running.

The viewer focused really hard on Dream. Dream passed the ball to Ray who is right in the middle of the other team side of the field. The ball easily trapped by Ray. With the side of his foot, He kill the momentum of the ball. Then he shoot the ball to the left side of the goal.

"WOOOOOH!"

The viewers was surprised seeing that.

The student council understand why Dream want to play with Ray. Both of them have a perfect synergy when put together.

"s**t, We're not going to lose!"

Said the goal keeper. He immediately throw the ball toward the Blonde man. Ray immediately move to block him. He immediately stopped in place.

He looked to the side and see his teammate. He immediately move his leg to a kick motion. Ray immediately moved that way. He kick the other way.

"A feint huh."

Ray suddenly moved back to block him again.

"What?!  How can you keep up with that?!"

"Simple. I know what your next move is."

Ray immediately steal the ball.

"When you see me move to that way, you see a chance to pull a feint. And I know that because I let you do it."

The blonde guy immediately realized that he was getting manipulated by Ray.

The defense immediately surround Ray.

Ray look at Dream. Dream immediately moved. Ray immediately pass the ball to Dream. The defense immediately surround Dream. Dream pass back to Ray. Ray immediately shoot the ball.

Ray missed. The ball was slightly higher than the goal.

"Oh? It's really rare for him to miss."

"Sorry. I kick a lot of sand."

"Oh Don't mind. It's your first time playing in sand. I will wait until you're already familiar with the feeling of the sand"

They immediately restart. Dream take Ray role for now. So He immediately move to block the Blonde guy.

"Hoo? I'm facing against the legendary Dream Enpierce? It's an honor."

"Well well senior. If you don't focus on what in front of you right now, The ball might get stolen you know?"

"Haha, What are you talking about?"

When they were talking, Dream immediately steal the ball. The blonde senior immediately went to grab Dream shoulder. Dream ducked and pass the ball to Ray.

"So, I guess you're done huh?"

Ray already running. Which mean that Ray already used to the sand.

The ball immediately get trapped by Ray. He kick it higher and immediately passed to Dream.

"Oh? To me?"

Dream immediately chased the ball. Dream direct shoot the ball.

Dream immediately went back to his side.

"Ray Why do you passed that time?"

"A lot of people want to see you play. So, I guess I will let you have some of the glory."

Dream was surprised hearing his answer. Dream smirked.

"Well then, Let's do more creative shot then."

Ray nodded.

The scores is 2 - 1. The half time bell rang.

"Oh? It's half time already? Do we really wait that long?"

Dream was surprised hearing that bell. They haven't done that much combo yet. Lily and the other is there on the seat watching their synergy.

"Hey Dream, Should we also gave the other a chance to play?"

Ray ask. Dream was shocked hearing that.

"It's rare for you to care about them. Usually, You only wanted a pass right?"

"You already satisfied my years of hunger for goals. So, I think we can work together with all of them now."

The ice in Ray heart finally melted. He won't be playing for himself anymore. He will be playing for the team.

"Sure. Hey you guys~ Join us on attack will you?"

"Eh really?! We will!"

The team immediately get excited. Cid smiled softly seeing Ray telling that to Dream.

This 2nd half will be different. The level of Dream team will be increased with his play. In the second half, Cid is the one who get to kick off. Without any hesitation, He immediately pass to the center of the offense. Dream. While the ball was flying, They immediately moved in order to take goal.

"Well well, Who should I use?"

Dream immediately fall into a dilemma. Now that everyone went on attack. He was confused on who should he passed to. He can passed to Ray for a guarantee goal but, It will mean that Ray is the one who choose.

"Let's go with Cid first. He's the captain after all!"

Dream immediately observe his movement. Cid Weapon is his accurate pass and shoot. So, If Dream just sent it to his leg, It's a guarantee goal.

"Well, Here I go!"

Dream kick the ball toward Cid. The ball slowly falling right into his shooting space.

"This is?!"

Cid was surprised seeing the ball come perfectly onto his leg. Without trapping, Cid immediately direct shoot the ball, Accurately to the corner of the goal.

With that, Dream keep passing the ball to all of his teammate. The senior team only have 1 score. While Dream team have 10 goal for themselves.

"Well, See you tomorrow Ray!"

"See you"

Ray and the other immediately went back to their way. Dream immediately went back to the student council room.

"So what do you think of my team?"

Dream ask to them.

"They're really good. Especially your partner Ray. The synergy both of you gives really make a great impact to the match."

Said Elaine.

"Dream, Can you introduce me to him?"

Eis said. Everyone immediately shocked hearing that.

"What? Do you like him President?"

"I don't know. He's really cool. I just wanted to see him on my own."

Eis said with red cheeks.

"Well then President~ Want to join me tomorrow? You see, Ray want to hang out so, If you want that's the chance."

"Yes, I will also go with you."

'Still, I can't believe that President is captivated by him. As expected of Ray."

The next day, Dream, Lily and Eis was walking to the place where Ray always hangout. The place is a nice little cafe. It seems like Ray actually Co-owned the place.

"Yo Ray. I brought a friend with me too. I hope you don't mind."

"Sure. Come in."

Ray let Dream and the other in. Ray immediately stared at Eis.

"Who is she Dream?"

"My name is Eis Glacier. Nice to meet you Ray Ioda."

"Oh you know me already. That's great. Let's go sit somewhere."

Ray let Dream and the other to their table.

"Wait here. I will go to the kitchen to prepare the food."

Ray walked away. Dream was confused by his personality.

'Is it me or Is Ray become more approachable? The cold aura around him is gone.'

"Look like he's also interested in you President."

Dream said. Lily continued.

"You look so pretty today president. No wonder he was interested in you."

"Well, Thank you. I'm not playing around when I said meeting him you know?"

Ray come out from the kitchen wearing a butler outfit and food on his hand.

Eis immediately cover her nose.

"Pfft! What are you doing Ray?!"

Dream laugh at him.

"Shit... Don't laugh! My stupid friends forced me to wear this!"

"Hahaha! You look great my friend."

While Dream was looking at Ray and laughing, Lily stared at Dream.

"What Lily?"

"Ray... Do you still have another butler costume?"

"Yeah. Why?"

Ray was confused when Lily asking him that. Dream immediately shuddered.

"Lily?"

"Dream... Can you wear it too? I want to see you looking like that."

"Eh? No?"

"Please?"

When Lily looked at him cutely and saying please, Dream can't said no.

"S-sure..."

Ray immediately grabbed him and said.

"Come here friend~"

Dream look so dejected.

When Dream comes out, Lily also covered her nose. It look like both Eis and Lily get a nosebleed when seeing Dream and Ray wear a butler suit.

Both Dream and Ray sat down.

"Ray... You bastard..."

"What? It's not my fault alright! It's that bastard!"

Said Ray while pointing on his friend.

All 4 of them enjoy the food.

"Well then, I'll take this back to the kitchen."

Dream said.

"Ah me too!"

Lily also followed him. They grab the plate and walked toward the Kitchen.

"So Dream, Do you think it's going to be alright?"

"I'm pretty sure. Ray is not a coward. If President just confess right now, There's probably a 99% chance that she's going to be accepted."

"Really? Let's clean the plate quickly!"

Dream and Lily wash the plate quickly.

"So, Ray. Do you go to any academy at all?"

"I'm not."

"Really? Do you want to become a soccer player in the future?"

"No. The reason I play soccer is to search for a people that can make me go higher. That's why I'm Really thankful for Dream."

"Hee... That's nice. I also glad that I met Dream. He's such a reliable junior."

"Right? Even though he's 1 year younger than me, The feeling I get from him is like We're a brother."

Suddenly, The atmosphere became awkward. Ray is sweating because of Eis. He doesn't know how to interact with girl.

"So Ray... Do you have a girlfriend?"

"Eh? N-No... I don't."

Eis sigh. She build up her courage and said.

"Then, Want to go out with me? I fell for you from the first sight."

Eis said. Her cheeks slowly become rosy. Her head seems like a smoke is coming from it. She was nervous.

She looked at Ray who is even redder than her.

"Etto, um, Eh..."

Ray seems like at lost. His head already explode at that point.

"W-well, If you're fine with me... I gladly accept..."

But, He managed to let out that word.

"Yay!"

Eis jumped at him and immediately hugged him.

"Then, I hope we can be closer!"

"Y-Yes!"

Dream and Lily immediately go out.

"Well well, Look who finally come out from his shell. Right? Butler Ray?"

Dream already wearing his normal clothes.

"Umm, Eis... Can I also go? I want to change."

"No."

Eis keep hugging her new boyfriend.

Dream and Lily sat back down on their seat.

"Well, Let me congratulate both of you."

"Thank you.."

They hang out for much longer.

Ray keep working on the cafe with his friend. Dream, Lily and Eis went back to the Academy.

The summer competition already done. So the academy will start not too long after.

"Haah. Finally it's started."

That's the first thing Dream said. After waking up, He immediately went to take a shower. He goes down to the cafeteria to had a breakfast and headed to class immediately.

It's the first day of class after a summer vacation. Dream was the only person in the class.

"What the hell? I'm the only one? People must be so tired."

He went to his table. Then he noticed that there's a new table right beside his table.

"Is someone transferring today? I hope They're a nice person."

Dream look at the clock in the classroom.

"Shit... I forgot that today we started a little bit late."

Dream realized that they were supposed to start at 9 AM. And Right now is 7 AM.

"Well, Time to sleep then."

Dream, Doesn't bother to go back to his room. He just slept in the classroom.

"Dream... Wake up."

The soft sound wake Dream up. Lily wake Dream up after she arrived.

"Oh, Lily. Good morning. Seems like we're going to have a new classmates."

Lily noticed the new desk beside Dream desk.

People started pouring in. Finally, Elaine come in.

"Boys and Girls. You might noticed already. There's one more seat. That's because, There's a new student joining us this year."

Everyone started talking.

"Well, I will give you a clue about this person. He is a boy. You can come in now."

As soon as Elaine said Boy, The girls in the class started gossiping.

A familiar person enter the class. A black hair, 6 ft tall. Black Eyes. It's Ray.

"My name is Ray Ioda. It's an honor that Miss Elaine accepted me even though It's already this late in the semester."

Dream was Surprised seeing Him.

'President must have done something for him. Still Glad that he's in now."

"Now, I already prepared a special place for you. Right beside your bestfriend."

Ray slowly walking toward his table. The girls have a rosy cheeks after seeing Ray.

"Yo Dream."

"Yo Ray. I supposed she does something huh."

"Yeah. Thanks to her, I can go to this academy. The Test is quite hard though."

Dream and Ray bump their fist. Immediately, Gossip already started about Dream and Ray.

Immediately, Dream and Ray was told to spar by Elaine.

"Ray. This is the first time we fought right?"

"Yeah. I hope you're not going to crush me immediately Dream."

Dream and Ray were talking before they fight. Ray used Twin sword while Dream was using his Halberd.

'Ray is stronger than Julius. Because this is the first time I ever see him fight, I need to be careful.'

Dream thought. The bell rang. Dream and Ray have yet to make their first move. The intense atmosphere was shattered when Ray make his first move. He charged and swing his right sword to the ground.

Dream blocked the Right sword with his halberd. He immediately changed his attention to the Left Sword.

'It's gone?!'

Dream immediately jumped back.

"Haha. As expected. Your feint was top notch."

"Thank you."

Ray swing his sword toward Dream neck. Using the Left sword as a distraction, Dream immediately let his guard down. Which made a chance for Ray to attack.

Dream, Feel the wound near his neck.

"No way?! Dream was bleeding?!"

The classmates were surprised seeing Ray attack. It's so effective that even Dream was hit.

Dream smiled.

"Good! This is how it should be!"

Ray charged at him again.

Ray swing his sword toward Dream 21 times. Dream managed to block and evade all of it.

"Dream. Get serious please. I know that I'm going to lose. So please defeat me with all of your power."

Ray said. His eyes were full of conviction. Dream appreciate his friend wish. So, he get serious.

He immediately changed the halberd into chains. He won't use his Chaos Essence or Leviathan Mark because, Dream doesn't want to kill Ray.

"Let's rock Ray!"

"Let's go Dream!"

In an instant, Both Dream and Ray vanished. A loud noise was coming. They already strike each other. The sound of metal falling can be heard from the arena. Along with the sound of body hitting the ground.

Dream, Shattered the Twin sword and strike Ray with all of his power. Ray was passed out after getting hit with the chain.

Dream was bleeding from his neck again.

"That's a great fight. You managed to hit me twice."

In the midst of the chains, Ray managed to slice Dream neck once again.

Both of them immediately Drink a high class grade potion and healed.

They went back to the class.

"Well, How was the first day Ray?"

"It's pretty good. I want to meet Eis though..."

"Why don't you join the Student Council? Me and Lily also in there."

"Really? Then, Let me see it then."

Ray and Dream walked toward the Student Council room. They're currently having a break after the fight. People usually go to the cafeteria to eat but, Dream and Ray not really that hungry.

"Hee, It's nice and cozy in here."

"Yup. Usually, We hang around here when we have a lot of time. They said that they give student advice for anything. To be honest, There were never a student coming here. So, We actually use it for ourselves."

"Alright then. I will ask Miss Elaine or Eis about this later."

"Where should we go now?"

Dream grabbed a juice from the fridge and gave it to Ray.

"I want to know where Eis class is."

"Alright then you simp. Follow me."

"Sure. And Don't call me simp!"

Ray threw a tantrum after hearing Dream called him Simp.

"You're also a simp Dream."

"True."

Dream and Ray immediately walk toward Eis Class. As they walked there, People started staring at them.

"Dream.. Is it just me or, People really staring at us?"

"Nope, They're totally staring at us. Don't worry, you'll get used to it soon."

Ray sighed hearing Dream. They arrived at Eis class. Obviously, Eis wasn't there.

"Oh? She's not here?"

Dream said.

"She's probably eating right now. Let's go back. I just wanted to know the classes."

"Alright."

Dream immediately walked back with Ray to the classroom.

"So, Now we're going to talk about should Ray join the Student council."

Said Elaine. Everyone stared at her.

"Ray. Do you want to join?"

"Yes."

"Any objection?"

No one said anything.

"Then, Welcome to the Student Council!"

Dream was confused because Elaine is too high spirited.

"Miss... I'm tired. Can you keep it low?"

Dream and Lily was sighing. They were forced to fight Elaine. Elaine annihilated their lungs with her Specter form.

"Ah. Sorry. Well, We're talking about this anyway. Dream, Lily. Go back to your room and rest."

"Yes~"

Lazily, They walked toward their room. As soon as they arrived, They took a bath and immediately sleep.

During their happy time, They doesn't realize. That darkness is on the move. It seems like they have forgotten about the cult. That's Dream and everyone first mistake.
