Chapter Twelve

1047 Words
The next morning, Addison woke up to the warmth of her mates beside her. Abel’s arm was draped across her chest, while Kaine’s leg was laid over one of her own. As she stretched and yawned, she glanced at the calendar on her nightstand and sighed softly. “It’s my last day of winter break,” she murmured, turning to Abel and Kaine with a hint of reluctance in her voice. The twins stirred and moved to sit up on the bed. Abel and Kaine exchanged a knowing look before Abel spoke up. “Then we’ll make sure it’s a day to remember,” he said, pulling Addison into a gentle kiss. Kaine nodded in agreement. “First things first, though. Training session, We promised mom.” he reminded them, a playful glint in his eyes. Addison chuckled, knowing that her mates were always focused on her well-being and training, even on her last day off. “Alright, let’s get to it,” she said, getting out of bed, getting dressed in her work out gear and stretching once more. She tied up her long hair into a braid and slipped on her sneakers, before heading to their training area. “She’s not super strong yet, but she’s light on her feet and she’s fast. With the right techniques, our girl can do some serious damage.” Kaine commented. After a rigorous training session where Addison pushed herself to her limits under the watchful eyes of Abel and Kaine, they decided to head into town for some fun. Their first stop was a cozy café in the heart of town. They settled into a booth by the window, sipping on steaming cups of coffee and indulging in delicious pastries. Addison’s laughter filled the air as Abel and Kaine recounted humorous anecdotes from their past, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere. “Do you remember that winter when we all went to the Snow Mountain Pack?” Abel asked. “Dude, we were like thirteen. You wanted to impress Addie with your ice skating skills so we went out to that lake. Your ass landed so hard on the ice, that it f*****g cracked and dad had to fish you out. Then we spent the next three days in the infirmary because your dumbass almost got hypothermia and died.” Kaine said with a roll of his eyes. “I meant the other part.” Kaine raised his eyebrow. “You mean how you had ten year old Addie spoon feeding you your soup, and told her…” “As long as you’re here to feed me, I can live and die a happy man.” Kaine repeated with a laugh. “So f*****g lame!” Kaine said bursting out laughing. “What? Addie was my very first crush.” “No way.” Addie commented. Abel grinned in her direction. “You are all I ever wanted, baby.” Kaine pushed his brother’s face back across the table with a laugh. “Dude, no one can take you seriously.” Next, they made their way to the arcade, where they let loose and embraced their competitive sides. Addison’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she won several rounds of games, much to the dismay of her mates, that just couldn’t seem to catch up. “Read ‘em and weep boys!” Addie said, laughing triumphantly, as she gathered up her arms full of tickets and took them to the counter for her prize. “Ooh! I want the moody octopus!” She declared. The girl behind the counter got her the little reversible plush toy. Addie walked out with her mates, happily. “Dude, we got our asses handed to us by a girl. Our younger selves would kill us.” Kaine joked as they walked out. “Nah, younger me would let her win.” Abel chuckled in response. The arcade fun was followed by a trip to the movie theater. As they settled into their seats with popcorn and drinks. The movie that was playing was a new slasher film. Kaine didn’t expect that Addie would be in to those kinds of movies, but here they were… Kaine couldn’t help but flinch during the more gruesome scenes of the movie. Abel couldn’t contain his laughter, teasing his brother playfully. “Bro, it’s just a movie, it’s not that deep I promise. We do worse than this in real life, hunting rogues.” Abel said still laughing at his brother. Addie squeezed Kaine’s hand comfortably. “It’ll be alright.” She said with a smile. “Hey, if we get scared, can we hide our faces in your chest?” Abel whispered heatedly into her ear and she almost lost it. Her face heated with a blush and Abel couldn’t stop laughing. Addison, focused on the screen, munching on her sweet popcorn. She found herself drawn into the story, occasionally stealing glances at Kaine to make sure he was okay. Despite Kaine’s reactions, Addison thought it was fun to watch a movie together. As they walked back home under the moonlit sky, arms linked and hearts full of happiness, Addison couldn’t help but feel grateful for the bond she shared with Abel and Kaine. They had made her last day of winter break truly memorable, filling it with love, laughter, and cherished moments that would stay with her for some time. After dinner at the Packhouse the Twins seemed to have something on their mind. “What, is there something on my face?” Addison asked and Abel cracked up. “There could be, but no. You’re perfect. We’re just wondering… we never got to see your wolf and wondered if we can go for a run?” “Sure!” Addison said with a grin. The three of them stood at the wooded area. Addison could feel their heated gaze on her flesh. She slipped out of her clothes, stripping down to nothing. She let Alari slid forward and triggered the shift. Sandy brown fur broke out through her flesh. She completed her shift. She crouched down on her front haunches and took off. Abel and Kaine completed their own shifts, taking the forms of their wolves, and took off after her, enjoying the chase.
