Chapter 4
Grandpa's funeral ceremony finished, and the guests began leaving. Myra was greeting them and worried about Archie, who hadn't come to the funeral yet. She heard people gossiping about him.
"His grandson Archie, he didn't come today. I heard he had a fight with his grandpa a week before," one of the board of directors' wives muttered in the ear of another.
"Oh! I see. That's why he was missing for a week. Poor him." Myra stared at the door in hope, but he didn't show up.
Archie was still in the Turner house, sitting in his Grandpa's room. He stared at the room carefully, recalling the memories of his childhood with his grandpa. How they both used to play together, and Grandpa deliberately lost a game against him. It felt so empty and upsetting without his grandpa. He held his photo; it was from the year of his graduation. He knew his grandpa was the happiest person that day.
He stared at the old family photo of the Turners that hung on the wall, where he was missing. He took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Hello, Chen," Archie lay over the armchair of his grandpa and rested himself.
"Archie, you called me earlier than I expected. Seemed you were just waiting for his funeral," Chen said. He knew Archie since childhood and how Archie was desperate to get the things he wanted.
"I want you to announce Grandpa's will tomorrow. I want to acquire the Turner group as soon as possible," he told Chen.
"I am ready to announce it, but before that, I want you to read it first," Chen said with a serious note. Archie's brows raised at hearing that.
"What to read! I know Grandpa made me his heir." Archie was so confident, but he had no idea something else was waiting for him.
"It's not what you think. Your grandpa changed his will last evening." Chen's words were enough to shake the floor under Archie's feet. He was stunned to hear that.
"Are you crazy?" Archie wasted no time and immediately left for the advocate's chamber. He was the only one who brought Turner Group to the peak. Since he took the position of CEO, the group became one of the top multinational companies. He could not let his efforts go to useless hands. Within half an hour, Archie was already there. Chen asked him to sit, but Archie was not interested in formalities.
"What do you mean by that? Why didn't you inform me before? Has grandpa made Ryan his heir?" Archie put a series of questions in front of Chen. He was so sure that his grandpa was going to leave the Turner Group in capable hands, and that was only him. What if his uncle manipulated his grandpa? Ryan could never be the future heir, as he was not even able to handle his own shares.
"Not at all. It's someone else," Advocate Chen said, and it dumbfounded Archie even more. Who that 'someone else' could be? Chen pushed the will paper in front of him. Archie held it and started reading. His eyes widened as if his eyeballs would pop out.
"What the f**k?" He could not believe his eyes.
"Yeah, your grandpa changed his will just an hour before dying and made a girl named Celeste Baker the heir of his will. I don't even know why he did it," Advocate Chen was shocked, but Archie was speechless. He rubbed his face; Grandpa left him with a big hurdle.
"We had a fight over my marriage the day he went missing." Archie was feeling guilty. "What name did you say?" He asked Advocate Chen again.
"Celeste Baker," Chen answered.
Archie crinkled his nose; he had never heard of any person by that name. Not any relative. How suddenly did his grandpa change his will? What was so special about this girl that he made her the heir? His brain was fogged with questions.
"Do you have any information about her?" Archie asked. Chen nodded and passed the biodata of the girl.
"How easily you found that," Archie turned the pages of the biodata and found a photo of her. Fair face and deep green eyes. Golden brown hair and a mild smile on her face. He narrowed his eyes and wondered if he had seen her before. But no, his mind couldn't recognize her.
"She is a waitress at Passion club. She lives exactly in the same place where your grandpa went missing," Advocate Chen pointed at the address. Archie's brows furrowed at hearing it.
"That means Grandpa was living with her for a week," Archie connected the dots and came to the conclusion. It was shocking and devastating for him. He grabbed her photo and stared at her with tapered eyes.
"I understand, Grandpa might have known her since she was a waitress. She must have seduced him, and he took this step. She is a f*****g gold digger," Archie assumed. He held her photo and gritted his teeth as if he wanted to tear that photo right now.
"I don't think so; she looks innocent," Chen said, but Archie smirked.
"I have slept with such girls and know their real faces. They just want the money in your pocket." He threw her photo and got up from his chair. "I am going to kill that f*****g girl," Archie said, and Chen stopped him.
"You are making decisions too quickly. Do you know your decisions can ruin things too?" Chen knew the temper of Archie; he didn't want Archie to do anything that would only ruin their game. But Archie was too stubborn to understand this.
"So, do you want her to ruin the empire that I built in the last five years?" he gritted his teeth, his eyes lowered.
"Alright. But I will come with you," Chen said, and they both left for the club. On the way, Chen explained to Archie why they should not meet that woman now.
"I want to get what's mine. And I will ask her to give it easily if she really wants to live." Archie's nostrils flared up. His eyes were holding rage. He was so impatient to get everything back. He could not let a freebie come and get his entire empire.
"Do you think she would give it back to you?"
"If she could not, I would sue her for falsely seducing and tricking my grandpa," Archie added. The car stopped in front of the Passion club.
As soon as they both entered, they approached the receptionist. She greeted Archie.
"Where is Celeste Baker?" Archie directly asked her impatiently. She was puzzled when she saw him angrily asking about a newly joined girl.
"She just left a minute ago," she gestured outside. Archie didn't stop and immediately ran outside. There were many girls leaving for their homes after completing their shifts.
Archie and Chen began searching for her. Suddenly, they noticed a girl whose hand was being tightly held by a boy. The girl was trying to free her hand.
"It seems that drunk man is trying to harass that girl," Chen said, narrowing his eyes.
"Did we come here for this?" Archie asked him annoyingly, looking around.
"Do you want your club's name to be flaunting on the first page of the newspaper tomorrow, stating a drunk man raped a girl in the Passion club neighborhood?" Chen asked him, and Archie immediately went there.
"Finally, we found you. How long are you going to hide? Give us the money back or come with us," he shouted at her.
"Please leave me. I don't have a single penny. I already gave you everything that I had. My gold, my money. I gave it all to you. I have nothing now," she was begging. That man was joined by another one with a big mole on his right cheek.
"Your dad took a huge debt from us. Don't think you can pay it just once," another man told her. He was staring at Celeste in a weird way.
"I told you that I don't have money. I already paid you more than enough. Do you want me to sell my organs?" Archie could not see that girl, but her long brown hair reached her butt. Her height was merely near 5.2, but the way she talked to that goon seemed she was courageous.
"Wait a minute. Why don't you pay it with your body? Just sell yourself to us, and we will forget about the debt." The stout man laughed and raised his hands to touch her shoulder. Suddenly, a hand came and grabbed his wrist so tightly that his wrist bone would make a cracking noise anytime and part in two. Archie pulled his sleeves up. He gave a cold, icy gaze to them that was enough to make their knees shake.
"Seems you haven't eaten anything in days." Archie smirked and fisted into a punch.
"Who... are... you?" The goon's voice began shaking, and at the same time, Archie punched him in the face. The punch was so hard that the stout man started bleeding from his nose. Celeste was stunned to see it, her eyes widened that some random man just came to save her
