CHAPTER 2

Regina remained undeterred by Fabian's harsh voice. She didn't leave his room as he had wanted. Instead, she tidied up the mess and cleaned the entire room. Every move she made was cautious, not wanting to wake Fabian. She believed that even though he was seated in a wheelchair, he was asleep due to his closed eyes and heavy breathing. It had been an hour since Regina started cleaning. The room was in such disarray that it took her longer than expected. Now, she was busy changing the bed covers and arranging the pillows. She was leaning over from the edge of the bed, adjusting the covers when she suddenly heard Fabian's voice. "Damn it!" he muttered, his voice barely audible. Regina quickly turned to face him and realized that he was awake. She also noticed that he was facing her direction. If he weren't blind, she would think his blue eyes were looking directly at her. "Sir, you're awake," she said to him. Regina stood up straight, adjusting her skirt, especially since it had risen halfway up her thighs. "Who turned off the air conditioner? Damn it! It's too hot!" he stated with irritation. It was then that she noticed he was sweating. That's right! Regina had turned off the air conditioner earlier because she felt too cold. She hadn't realized that the room was gradually getting hotter. "I-I'm sorry!" she apologized, quickly turning the air conditioner back on. Afterward, she turned to face Fabian. "Is there anything else you need? Are you hungry?" Without hesitation, she approached him and wiped the sweaty back of his neck. She saw him furrow his brow and then pushed her hand away, causing her to step back. "You're still here! I already said I don't want anyone entering this room! I don't need help from anyone!" he retorted, his irritation evident once again. Regina couldn't help but let out a sigh. "Are you hungry, sir?" she asked, choosing to ignore his previous words. "Is there something you would like to eat? I can cook for you," she said in a gentle tone, contradicting his earlier shouting. Earlier, she had gone down to the kitchen to get food for Fabian. But even after it had cooled down, he still hadn't woken up. That's why Regina thought of cooking something for him instead. "Get out!" he exclaimed. Regina observed Fabian's slow and deliberate rise from the wheelchair as he took slow steps forward. "f**k!" She noticed him gritting his teeth, so she quickly approached him. "Sir, please sit back in the wheelchair. Where are you going? Let me assist you," she said, grasping his arm. Yet again, he pushed her hand away. "I don't need anyone's help! Just f*****g leave!" he firmly stated in his deep baritone voice. Despite the difficulty in walking, he slowly made his way to the bathroom. Regina didn't leave, and she continued to support him. She stood behind him, her arms ready to assist. "P-Please take it easy, sir. There's a towel near your feet. You might slip," she said, hastily opening the bathroom door as they neared it. He remained silent, only clenching his jaw tightly. Finally, he entered the bathroom. "D-Do you need my help inside, sir?" Regina innocently asked Fabian, taking care not to insinuate anything. However, upon realizing that he seemed taken aback and his eyebrows furrowed, she couldn't help but blush. "I-I mean, maybe you might fall..." she said to him. She didn't want Fabian to think that she had any ulterior motives just because he was blind. Regina was genuinely concerned. Yes, Auntie Davie had informed her that Fabian was undergoing therapy to regain his ability to walk. But she couldn't help but worry that he might stumble and fall, seeing that he still seemed to struggle while walking. She was taking care of Fabian. She couldn't just leave him unattended. She needed to support him in whatever he needed to ensure his safety. "Just leave! And don't come back here!" Fabian said with annoyance before slamming the door shut, causing Regina to step back. She almost got hit by the door. Luckily, there was still a little distance left. She stood there, unfazed by Fabian's order. She remained outside the bathroom, waiting for him to come out. However, almost an hour had passed, and he still hadn't emerged. The only sound she heard was the running water inside, which eventually stopped. Concerned, she knocked on the door, especially since she didn't hear any more noise coming from inside. "Sir Fabian? A-Are you okay in there? Did something happen? Do you need my help?" she asked. She was worried that something might have happened to him. There was no response from him. But after a few moments, the door opened, startling Regina. She instinctively swallowed, her mouth agape, as she beheld Fabian with only a towel wrapped around his waist, his dark chocolate hair glistening with water droplets as they traveled down his sculpted chest towards his abs. "S-Sir Fabian," she almost whispered, immediately averting her gaze. She couldn't help but blush. "You're still f*****g here!" he said in a cold tone, and then he walked past her. Similar to earlier, he walked past her and slowly made his way to the bed. Perhaps after three weeks since the accident, Fabian had memorized where his belongings were in the room despite being blind. It was effortless for him to navigate towards the bed. "D-Do you need anything, Sir?" Regina asked when she noticed Fabian stop at the edge of the bed. Fabian's back was facing her, so she couldn't see his facial expression. She didn't receive any response from him, so she spoke again. "I-I understand. J-Just a moment, Sir. I'll get your clothes so you can change--oh my God!" Regina let out a shriek as she saw Fabian suddenly remove the towel from his waist, causing her to instinctively close her eyes. Yes, Regina was already twenty-five years old. But with her somewhat average appearance, especially considering that she wasn't tall—she was only 5'4"—and had round doll-like eyes, a small nose, and thin lips, she had never had a boyfriend. And yes, at times she couldn't help but watch adult movies, especially out of curiosity about what couples did in bed. But since Regina was still a virgin and hadn't seen a man's private parts, it would shock her. "Tss..." She heard Fabian mutter. "S-Sir, please put your towel back on. Please. I'll just get your clothes," she urgently requested. "No need. Just leave!" he responded. "But Sir Fabian--" "Just f*****g leave! For God's sake! I am not naked!" he shouted angrily at her, causing her to open her eyes. She slowly opened her eyelids without moving her hands away. Regina breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Fabian was somehow covered with a cloth. Just like earlier, he still didn't have anything covering his upper body, but he was wearing boxer shorts now. He was lying on the bed, with his right arm covering his eyes. But that still wasn't enough because Regina could clearly see the bulge between his thighs, causing her cheeks to flush with warmth again. "I'll get your clothes, Sir. You might feel cold," she said to him. Before she could get a response, she went to his walk-in closet and searched for a shirt and pajamas. Afterward, she approached him, and he was still lying on the bed. "Sir, please get dressed," she said, avoiding direct eye contact. She didn't receive any response from him, so she approached him even closer. "D-Do you want me to help you get dressed?" she hesitantly asked, ready to sit on the bed. But she immediately stepped back when Fabian pointed to the end of the bed. "Just leave it there!" he said coldly. She nodded. "Okay. By the way, Sir, I'll just go downstairs and get your food. It's already noon, and you haven't eaten yet. You also need to take your meds," she said to him. She didn't receive any response from Fabian, so she spoke again. "When I come back, you should be dressed already," she whispered. She saw his eyebrows furrow in response. "What?" he said with a grumpy tone. "Oh, nothing!" "Tsk! Get out! You're so loud, woman! You're making my ears hurt!" he snapped at her. She shrugged at his comment. It was true that her voice could be loud when she spoke. It didn't offend her. "All right, Sir. I'll just get your food. Please wait for me." After that, Regina left and headed to the mansion's kitchen. She was almost lost in its vastness. Luckily, she noticed a mini map engraved on the wall and followed it. That way, she managed to reach the kitchen without getting lost. Upon arrival, she found Auntie Davie and the numerous busy helpers. "Regina..." Auntie Davie approached her and greeted her. She also noticed the tray of food that she brought earlier to Fabian's room, which remained untouched. "Didn't Sir eat?" "Auntie, Sir Fabian was asleep earlier and he just woke up so he didn't touch the food. I apologize. I'll just cook his meal," she explained apologetically. Regina felt like she had somehow messed up on her first day of work. "No, don't worry about it. Sir Fabian has a personal chef who takes care of his meals..." She nodded. "I'm sorry, Auntie, for not feeding Sir..." Regina felt genuinely sorry for not being able to fulfill her duties properly on her first day. "It's alright. Just make sure it doesn't happen again, especially since we have a set mealtime for him, especially considering he's taking medication. By the way, I have a gadget for you that lists all of Fabian's medications and appointments. All the schedules are included there." "Okay, thank you, Auntie." "You should eat your lunch, Regina. I'll take care of Fabian. I'll bring his food and give him his medication. Just follow us later." Regina quickly obeyed Auntie's instructions. It was just in time because she was also feeling hungry. Since she arrived at the mansion, she hadn't had a proper meal. As she was in the middle of eating, one of the housemaids whom she had seen crying earlier approached her. The maid introduced herself as Bettina. "Nice to meet you, Bettina. I'm Regina," she said, smiling. "I'm glad to meet you too. Fortunately, Auntie Davie was able to find a personal assistant for Sir Fabian. If you only knew, in just three weeks, you're already his tenth personal assistant. I hope you stay longer, Regina. I hope you can handle Fabian's personality because if not, I'm sure I'll be the one to replace you. And I don't want that to happen," Bettina whispered to her. Regina nodded in agreement. "Don't worry, Bettina. With the number of jobs I've had, dealing with Fabian will be a piece of cake," she confidently replied. There was a good salary in this mansion. That's why even if Fabian was grumpy and yelled at her, she would endure it. "I hope you don't eat your words, Regina. Because Fabian's outburst earlier? That's nothing compared to the behavior he has shown in the past few days," Bettina whispered to her.
