Tatiana wasn’t next to me.
I’d fallen asleep in the tent even though I hadn’t intended to sleep at all. When I woke up, my child was gone. The dragon that was still part of me raged. I got up from the tent and went outside, looking for her. “Tatiana!” I called.
From his tent, Hook popped his head out. “Endless! I had thought it too early to begin our Quest! I’d like to sleep a bit longer—”
“Tatiana’s missing,” I said.
Hook frowned and came out of his tent. “The wee one is gone?”
