Chapter 9: Counterattack

“Father, what mistake are you referring to?” Kira calmly asked.

“Younger sister, is the fever making you confused? Have you forgotten what happened?” Valerie was the first to speak. Her expression showed anxiousness. “Father wanted to know why you did that? He will not punish you as long as you admit to your mistake. Don’t be stubborn”

This sentence had already placed the blame on Kira’s head. And the mistake of going against the elders is added on top of it. This sentence of Valerie made their father angrier.

“Kira! Who gave you the right to go against me?! I am your father!” Her father was so angry that he suddenly stood up and slammed his hand on the table. His voice became sharper than ever, which made Valerie and Morgana jerk slightly.

Morgana looked at Kira with a look of disgust in her eyes. “Lady Kira, are you crazy? Why are you going against your father? He is your father. Show some respect.”

Kira looked at Morgana. Morgana Roswell, daughter of her father’s beta, Allen Roswell. At that moment, she was wearing a pink silk dress, which highly complimented her rosy and fair face. If Valerie is the epitome of kindness and gentleness, Morgana is quite the opposite. She’s rude, mean, and brutal. She’s very frank and won’t care about her reputation. That’s why her sister became friends with her.

With Morgana’s rustic behavior, it can show their difference. It can make Valerie look more like an angel. If only Morgana knew the rumors circulating outside and if only her brain was not stupid enough to fall on Valerie’s tricks, she wouldn’t have become like that.

But what right does she have to criticize Morgana’s behavior? She was also like that in the past. Bewitched by Valerie’s innocence and gentle smile. But she had already woken up from that bubble. She’s smart enough to notice those little tricks of her beloved sister.

“Morgana’s remark says that I’m in the wrong?” Kira asked softly and said, “But I don’t know where or what wrong I did.”

Her father didn’t hold back and immediately shouted, “You are already at such an age, but you don’t know what shame is! Why did you create a rumor about Morgana pushing you into that lake?! Now, everyone in the castle had heard about this incident! It’s not just Morgana’s reputation that was blackened, including yours! Do you know how many officials have seen your messy appearance at that time? You have shamed the entire royal family! You have shamed the Kholins family!”

Kira sighed softly in her heart. Why didn’t she see in the past how biased her father was? He didn’t even ask her about what happened and directly concluded that it was her who spread that rumor.

“Spread a rumor about Morgana Roswell?” she tilted her head in confusion.

Valerie could not help but say, “Kira, we know that you hated Morgana so much because the one you loved, Franz Devon, is in love with her. Everyone in the entire castle knows that fact. But, you can’t just spread rumors about her. She even went with me to visit you the other day because she felt guilty about what happened to you. It’s not her fault that Franz liked her.”

This sentence of hating Morgana and being in love with Franz Devon ruined her reputation in the past. Because of this incident, she was labeled as a jealous, unfilial, and madwoman. Valerie looked gentle and elegant but her mind could spout so much nonsense that she could turn and twist things around. Kira could not help but look at her.

Valerie had just finished speaking and took a glance at Kira but was surprised that she was looking at her. That pair of red eyes, like the color of blood, was exceptionally clear, it was like she had some hidden intentions. This shocked Valerie for a moment.

In the next second, Kira spoke softly, “Valerie, what do you mean by me being in love with Franz Devon? That lowly guard in our castle? Why should I be in love with him? I’m a daughter of the alpha, so saying this will ruin my reputation. Eldest sister, please don’t say this nonsense again.”

Valerie was stunned. She knew that Kira was in love with Franz Devon. Although she didn’t say it directly before, her words and the way she cared for that guard show her feelings for that man. So, why is she denying it now?

She forced a smile, “Kira, we are all family here. You should not deny these things…”

“Sister!” Kira interrupted Valerie loudly. “Valerie, please be careful of your words. If this news spreads outside, our whole family will be ashamed. Franz Devon is just a guard. I’m from a royal family. Our statuses don’t match, so why should I fall in love with him? We should be more careful with our conduct since we represent the Rouguemont Alpha Family. In the past, I was just feeling sorry for that guard and helped him a little because he suffered too much injury from training. But that was it. I can do that with another person as well, as long as I can see someone in need. Our mother taught us to be kind all the time. I hope you still remember that Valerie so that you won’t misunderstand things again.”

These words stunned Valerie and everyone inside the office, including their father.

Kira was usually very soft and timid and had never voiced anything in the past. She was always obedient and very easy to control. So, what happened? How could she say those words clearly and confidently?

Morgana saw that Valerie was at a disadvantage so she became annoyed and immediately spoke, “How can you say that to your sister Kira?! Valerie wasn’t spouting nonsense! It’s because you said to her that you loved that guard. That’s why you did all those things for him? Valerie was just trying to help you so that you two could be together!”

“Kira, what Morgana said was correct.” Her father said after recovering from the surprise, “If you wanted to be with that guard, father won’t blame you. I want you to follow what your hearts desire. That’s what I promised your mother. So, how about you saying your apologies to the Roswell family and I will let you be with that guard in return.”

Kira almost laughed in rage. These words are clearly destroying her in one swing. She, a royal member, would go and apologize to an official’s family so that she could be with that guard?! If that was done, where would she put her face in public? She would become the biggest joke in the entire castle if this news spread.

Kira smiled lightly as her eyes fell on Morgana who was comforting Valerie, “Morgana, how did you know that I was in love with that guard? Did you hear me say that personally?”

Morgana raised her head and nodded. “I heard it. That’s why you fought with me in the lake, because you learned that Franz liked me.”

“Morgana, you said that I fought with you in the lake, is that correct?” Kira asked once again.

“That’s correct.” Morgana haughtily replied.

“It is such. If my memory serves me right, I was in the lake playing in the water. Marcel Thorin, my father’s personal guard, saw me there. But you suddenly came and you said I fought with you. You must have forgotten this Morgana, I’m wolf-less. I don’t have the ability to fight with you. One little strength from you could kill me. I don’t think I’m stupid enough to fight with someone at your level.”

Kira glanced at the pale-looking face of Valerie. Everyone in the kingdom knows that she can’t fight. She’s wolf-less, while Morgana is a 2nd rank wolf. Her strength can easily kill her. So, if they really fought that day, there would be injuries in her body and she wouldn’t just end up having a fever. The physicians can attest to that.

When a wolf fights, there will be clear prints that will be found on their body or inside their body that the physicians can recognize. In her case, not a single print can be seen.

So, in this manner, Morgana lied. They didn’t fight during that time.

“Morgana! How dare you to lie in front of the alpha?!” Allen Roswell shouted with urgency.

Kira sneered in her heart. They wanted to destroy her reputation by spouting that nonsense? Let’s see if she will give them that chance.
