Chapter 3: The Pretentious Sister

In her previous life, she immediately rushed to her father and accused Morgana of pushing her into the lake. That’s what she did right after she woke up. Her father was having a meeting. And because of her commotion, the meeting was disturbed, which made her father angry. Of course, no one believed in her accusation, since no one witnessed it. She was punished by her father to be confined in her room, not allowing her to go out.

Her punishment was only lifted because of Valerie. It was because her sister pleaded with their father to allow her to go out. She was so grateful to her sister back then, not knowing that it was all an act. Valerie took her outside to humiliate her. Everyone knows that she’s nothing compared to her sister. In terms of beauty, intelligence, strength, and ability, she’s way too inferior. And standing beside her would clearly show it.

Kira closed her eyes tightly as she reminisced about her naive self.

Astanshire Empire is the home of all werewolves. It’s divided into six castles and 2 strongholds. Rouguemont Castle is one of the six castles in which they are currently living. Every werewolf, be it a child of a noble or a commoner, at the age of 12, should be able to have their wolf transformation and be labeled as a first-rank wolf.

A wolf’s strength is categorized at different levels. The first rank is the lowest of all. In terms of strength, agility, and combat ability, they are the weakest. On the other hand, the 8th rank is the highest of all. A person is considered the strongest of all if he/she is an 8th rank wolf. However, the person who could reach this rank didn’t exist. The highest level that is known is the 7th rank, which was the alpha of the 2 strongholds.

Strongholds are the strongest pack in the entire empire, but they are the most mysterious. The 2 strongholds, Dorpley and Worthwood, rarely go out of their territory and socialize with other people.

Kira was the useless trash in Rouguemont Castle. She didn’t have her wolf when she was 12, so basically, she didn’t have any strength and power that a child of royalty should have. She’s considered the biggest embarrassment of the royal family.

Everyone in their family is considered a genius. Her father, Javier Kholins, the alpha of Rouguemont Castle, is already a 5th rank wolf. Achieving the 5th rank is already very hard to achieve, her father is a genius in this aspect. And in the entire castle, her father is the only one who has achieved this rank. That’s why he is the alpha, the leader of the whole pack.

Her sister, Valerie, gained her wolf when she was still 8 years old and now that she’s 20, she’s already a 3rd rank wolf. Only a few can reach the 3rd rank at such an age. In the entire Rouguemont Castle, there are only 3 people who have achieved this rank at that age. First, it’s her father. Next is her sister. And last, it’s her personal guard, Bariston. But it was kept a secret from everyone.

Bariston had been concealing his strength because they didn’t want to attract jealousy. It was her advice to him before. And she was right to do it back then.

Knowing her sister’s character and arrogance, she would never allow anyone to outdo her, especially since Bariston is only a guard.

After her mother passed away, she became more useless than ever. In her last life, she felt that her father and sister treated her so well, since she was not forced to learn anything and to practice increasing her strength. Unlike her sister who was so busy learning this and learning that, she didn’t even have much time to play due to this. Now, it seemed that it was all a plan to make her fail due to her ignorance.

Just as she was thinking this, a knock on her bedroom door was heard. Soon later, her sister came inside with Morgana following her.

Bariston’s face showed his worries, “They really had come at such a time. Lady Kira’s health isn’t that well and they still came here to provoke her?”

Auntie Herma tugged Bariston’s arms, to stop him from saying more that might cause more problems. But she also had a worried look.

Kira saw the worry in their eyes and couldn’t help but feel happy. These two people remained loyal until their death. They were personally selected by her mother. Her mother was a very intelligent woman. Even on the verge of dying, she planned out and arranged everything to keep her safe.

Auntie Herma and Bariston were smart and very clever. Everything that’s happening in the castle, no matter what situation there is, they will be able to deduce and understand it. It was only her who failed to see it.

Two young females walked inside the room. The female was wearing a pink, daisy patterned dress and her brownish straight hair that reached up to her waist had only a flower crown on top of her head. Her complexion was fair and her brows and red eyes were beautiful. She had this educated and elegant appearance when she walked in.

Upon seeing Kira’s pale body on the bed, she quickened her steps to the bed while anxiously saying, “Kira, my dear sister, are you okay? Is your health better now? What about the physician? Did he visit you? I’m sorry sister isn’t there to protect you. If only I hadn't left your side, you wouldn’t have fallen in that cold lake.”

Kira looked at the anxious expression of the female in front. It was her dear pretentious sister, Lady Valerie Theola Kholins, the eldest daughter of the Rouguemont Castle’s Alpha.

There are only two children of the royal family. Valerie is the eldest and Kira is the youngest. Since young, she had always been compared to her sister. Valerie was a magnanimous person and was famous for her talents. But she, on the other hand, didn’t have any good qualities to be praised for. She was a princess that could not be shown to the public.

Previously, she had the best relationship with her sister. Whenever Valerie talked to her, she had this gentle and warm temperament. She would often tell her some ideas to gain their father’s attention. Kira failed to see that her intentions were not good and still, she was blind enough to be grateful to Valerie for her help.

For Valerie to come at this time, it was most likely to plead for Morgana, her dearest friend.

As expected, Valerie opened her mouth and said, “Kira, Morgana didn’t do it intentionally. She slipped and lost her balance. That’s why she accidentally pushed you into the lake. I hope Kira can forgive her this time. When Morgana learned that it caused you to have a fever, she was so remorseful. Since you’re already okay now, why don’t you forgive Morgana? She did not intend to let you make a fool of yourself in front of father and his officials. Look, Morgana came here as well to show sincerity.”

Valerie knew for a fact that she always wanted to get their father’s approval. She was so obsessed at that time with not making a fool out of herself and being on her best behavior in front of their father. Now that Valerie mentioned it, if it was in the past, she would not let this matter rest and would complain to their father.

In the last lifetime, Valerie said the same thing. She just woke up and Valerie hurriedly came over to plead for Morgana and mentioned their father. She got agitated and complained to their father about it, in front of his officials. She became the laughing stock of the whole castle and she was confined to her room to reflect on her mistakes.

“Valerie, your words are too serious. It was my fault why I fell. Morgana didn’t do anything wrong,” she whispered.

“Kira…” Valerie did not expect this response from her. Kira saw the stunned look on her face, not expecting her to let this matter slide. “Kira, you must not feel any grievances.”

“Why would I?” Kira smiled as she interrupted her words. “This is just a small matter. I’m a little bit dizzy and I would like to rest for a while. If it’s okay with you, please tell father that I might not be able to join you guys for dinner.”

With those words said, Valerie could not say anymore. Although she didn’t know why Kira reacted differently, she ignored it and said a few words, then left together with Morgana, who was silent this whole time.

After they had left, Bariston said, “Morgana pushed Lady Kira to that cold lake. If she is here to plead, then she should just say directly. What’s with her words and pretentious expressions?” Bariston sarcastically said.

“She deliberately said those words to agitate me and cause a commotion in father’s office right now.” Kira lightly said.

Bariston and Auntie Herma were surprised and happy that Kira could finally see her sister’s malicious intentions. Kira saw this and sighed in her heart. She really made them worry to such an extent.

Kira’s lips formed a cold smile while she looked at her fingertips.
