Chapter 15

1106 Words
Lorenzo's POV These last months since my brother came back have been a lot of hard work, manual and mental. We were able to set up systems to tear down the infrastructure of the pack completely, draw up some suburban planning for the town and get started on building. Every pack member was assigned a plot of land and is responsible for the building of their own homes with the pack money to pay for supplies and the building being done by themselves and or some laborers we will be hiring when the planning process is complete. I'm now on my way to the Realm of Goodwill for the inauguration of Kaipo, the Alpha Prince who will become the new Alpha King. I asked Alonzo if he wanted to come, but he said that he had been away from the pack for so long, he just wanted to stay home and keep an eye on things. When I get back, we will start on the new packhouse. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to do such building while stories of Ihowtons were going around, but they are far enough away from my territories for me not to worry. I load up my new truck with some warm clothes and bring along my Gamma, Dariel, so that we could spend a few days in the frozen paradise. I pull up to the castle and give Kai a call. We have a lot to talk about, so he tells me to come straight up to his office. Dariel takes care of finding out where we will be staying. "It's about time you made it here. Just hang up your coat in the coatroom." Kai says once I pop my head into his office. There is an empty coatroom in the middle of the area, so I take my coat made of the fur of the first bear I killed that my mother had made for me and go into his office. We talk about the good old days when we met back in Alpha training classes and catch up with what our lives are looking like now. He is still not mated. He wanted to wait until he found his mate to become King, but time is of the essence and his father needs to retire. "You still haven't found your mate yet either, huh?" he asks. "No, but I'm not thinking about that this weekend. I wanna just relax from the stresses of the last few months and go to a club tonight. I'm tryna get f****d up. I hope you still have that 100 year old scotch and wolfsbane mix." "Well, don't go too hard. We still have to have that meeting that I have been trying to get you here for months to have tomorrow." "Oh yea, that. Well, I say if that pack wants to live in seclusion let them. I have been trying to get in there since I became an Alpha. I honestly can't worry too much about the way another Alpha is running his pack. That is what got me in the position that I'm in now." "But you're gonna do this for me anyway, right asshole?" "Yea, jackass." "Good, because things with the West Moontrail Pack are worse than we've been telling everybody." After we talk a bit more, Kaipo says we'll meet in an hour. I go to the coatroom to get my coat and I see the hanger where I thought I left it bare just like all the others. 'Riel, did you come up here and get my coat?' 'No.' I go downstairs and search through my suitcase to see if it somehow ended up there, but of course it was not there. I call up Kai and tell him that something else came up and I will not be going out tonight. I will sniff out whoever stole my property and ask them why they think they deserve to keep their life. I don't have much left of my mother and I did not come all the way out here to have my things stolen. I sniff the outside of the building first, checking every exit and entrance to find any sign of it and I don't. Whoever took it is still inside the building. I go back upstairs and find the staircase where I can barely sniff out the scent of my coat, along with the overwhelming scent of baby powder. It is about 11 pm when I am finally looking at the door of the room where I know my coat is. I don't know exactly where I am in the castle, but whoever is on the other side of that door is going to have a lot of explaining to do as to why they are stealing from a neighboring Alpha. Locked. If I bang on the door, I might wake up everyone on the floor, so I easily squeeze the door handle until I hear a pop and I let myself in. I am immediately assaulted by a medley of smells, bergamot, sage and lemon, mixed with my own scent. The smell sends my wolf howling in my head. In the dark, quiet room I see one lone person, a girl laying in the bed. I get closer to her and see her lying comfortably encased in my fur coat. This is my little thief? Her fingers are dug into the fur. Her eyes are closed shut and her breath is steady. Her face is obstructed from view by her braids. I don't need her to look into my eyes to know who this girl is. My mate. I found her. I found my mate in the New Moon Pack's castle. Who is she? What is she doing here? Where is she from? Where has she been this whole time? I see something stir and suddenly realize that the two of us are not alone in the room. On the other side of the large bed is a sleeping baby. So this is what she has been up to. I feel anger course through my veins, anger from my Alpha wolf, Nathaniel, that she had carried someone else's pup. I must take a knee to gather myself, to suppress my wolf. I don't know this girl. She might be in a relationship with someone else, she might have been forced to have this baby. I don't want to judge this girl, but the thought of either of these things being true makes my wolf angrier, so I have to rush out of the room, down the stairs and into the snowy forest.
