Destiny or Trouble

OCTOBER 2012... My neck gets a little bit stiff because of sleeping in the car. I didn't know that I will easily fall asleep while traveling towards this gorgeous lady's place. I guess the whiskey makes me so sleepy. I was about to open my eyes when she suddenly move slowly away from me and took her bag. So before she took another step away from me, I immediately held her wrist. She was shocked at the way I stopped her. She looked straight into my eyes as if studying my expression and wondering why did I hold her wrist. I wanna make some excuses to buy some time and be with her a little bit longer but I can't think of any. I guess, asking for her number would be the best solution in this kind of situation. I was about to ask for her number but I just couldn't find the right words to say. I'm not used to asking for others' numbers. They usually ask for my number, not vice versa. She kept staring at me intently, waiting for me to speak up but all I can do was to lend my phone to her. She looked at me, confused but I just remained silent as I avoided her gaze. "What am I going to do with your phone?" She asked though I'm pretty sure she knew what I'm trying to do. Maybe she just wanna test my egoistic manner. I wanna keep acting cool even though I am lowering my guard down just to get her number. For some reason, I just feel like I will regret it if I lose contact with her tonight. "Your number," I uttered without looking straight at her face. I am trying my best to act as cool as possible yet my hands kept trembling from nervousness. I've never been this shy and conscious towards someone. "Oh. I see. Is that so hard to ask for my number?" She asked as if she's teasing me. "It's just that... I'm not used to it," I mumbled. I don't know why but I feel like my insides are squeezing and my heart keeps pounding so hard. Something I never felt to anyone by just asking her number. I am used to being the snobbish Cassanova whose girls were always head over heels but this gorgeous lady is far different from them all. As time goes by, I gradually appreciate each beauty she has. D*mn those gorgeous smiles. It's captivating my attention. I thought I found my new captive yet she slowly seduces me without even trying harder. She was smiling while typing in her number and dialed it up so she could have mine, too. Then we bid goodbye. I guess the night is not yet over for the two of us. I've never been this way until I met her from the bar. For some reason, I want to meet her and get to know her more. Besides, our deal is not yet over. ======= It's our first day of class for the last semester of being a senior. Everyone was so excited about the graduation and talks about the company they were planning to work for. But I remained silent about this conversation. Well, I am not the type of person who talks more than I need to but at this point, I don't have anything to share in the first place so I just stay quiet. By the way, Jeff, Brent, and I were close friends since day one in college when we were taking the same minor subject when we were freshmen. Since then, we easily clicked with each other and gets closer as time goes by. Until then, we became inseparable despite our busy schedule in college. "So what's your plan after you graduate?" Jeff asked. "Well, I have to continue my residency and a lot more steps to take before I could take the Licensure exam. I'm pretty sure, I will be your best man before I can be the groom." Brent joked. I just smirked at his lame joke. "How about you? Where are you planning to work for? I'm pretty sure there are lots of companies who were dying to hire you." Jeff throws the ball on me. "I haven't decided yet. Maybe I'll think about it once we graduated." I responded. The bell rings and we stand up from where we were sitting go to our separate classes. Jeff and I were going to the same building while Brent goes to the opposite way. We were chitchatting while walking when a girl bumps onto me and drops the book that she was holding. "I'm sorry, I didn't look----" The girl apologizes. But her words were interrupted when our eyes meet as we were reaching out for the book she dropped on the floor. "Oh!" She exclaimed. "You..." It's all I have uttered as we were both surprised to see each other on campus. Funny how the world became so small for the two of us. "Oooh~ Destiny!" Jeff exclaimed while looking at the two of us. I stared at him intently and he covers his mouth to stop himself from uttering nonsense. "I didn't know we will meet again. Not to mention that we will meet on this campus. Are you studying here?" She asked. And I just nodded in response. "Do you rarely speak and respond to someone who's communicating with you or are you just like that to me?" She added. "No, it's not like that. I'm just... I'm not a talkative type of person." I responded. And she smiled brightly as she heard me saying those. I clenched on my chest as I feel like my heart skipped a beat as I was looking at her smile. D*mn those killer eye smile. "Are you...okay?" She queried while looking at me spacing out while holding onto my chest. "Y-yeah, I'm okay. Nice to meet you again but we gotta go now for our class." Then she waved her hand as bid goodbye after that sudden reunion. It's been a week since the last time we saw each other. I couldn't bring myself calling her or sending her a message because as usual, I couldn't find the right words to say since I barely talks about myself. I'm not used to reaching out to anyone. That's why feels weird and more awkward that we have to meet at the same campus, and we are on the same building on top of it. While walking towards the classroom, I can sense how girls have been looking at me as I was walking in the aisle and looking for a seat in the last row. The Professor came in and checked out for the attendance of the students enrolled in this class. She called this name twice but no one responded. "Margarette Lane, not here?" The Professor called out for the last time when a girl rapidly enters the room, running after her breath and she's sweating all over her face. "Sorry, Ma'am for being late. I came into the wrong room. My apologies for being late on the first day of class." She excuses herself as she continues panting. "You are?" The Professor asks as she was checking her master list. "My name is Margarette Lane, Ma'am." She replied. "If you were late for another second, I might have marked you absent on your first day of class." The Professor asserted. "Go ahead and grab your seat so we can start the class." The Professor added. Just like how I grabbed girls' attention a while ago, this girl grabs the attention of every man in this room. And I cannot deny the fact that she also catches my attention like she always does. But I was kinda astonished when she sits right next to me though she didn't notice me sitting right next to her. She was still catching her breath as she sits. She took a deep breath to gather herself. She was about to bring out her note when her pen suddenly drops on the floor, maybe her panic and panting made her lose her composure. So I picked up her pen instead so she could calm down in her seat. She bowed as she thanked me for doing the kind gesture without meeting my gaze as she kept looking at the whiteboard while the Prof was discussing. "So for this activity, pair up with the one sitting right next to you and finish this in thirty minutes." The Professor instructed. She gasped in shock when she finally notices me. Her eyes were staring at me wide open. "Oh! You!" She exclaimed which caught our classmates' attention. They were murmuring as if wondering with this kind of reaction. I laid my forefinger on my lips to stop her from overreacting. She doesn't have to act like this if she just looks at me as soon as she sits on this chair. "Jace. Call me Jace rather than pointing at me and keeps calling me you." I mumbled. "Oh, I'm sorry about that. By the way, my name is Margarette but you can call me Marge for short." She said while smiling at me brightly. My heart feels like being struck by a lightning. It almost stops because of that wonderful smile. I wanna tell her to stop doing so but it's just irresistibly beautiful to look at me. A smile I would love to stare at each day. She waved her palm in front of my face as I kept staring at her blankly. "Jace? Are you okay?" She asked. But I couldn't reply immediately as my heart keeps pounding so fast. I wanna say I'm okay but I'm not good at lying. Because as I keep looking at her, the more I realized that I'm not okay. That everything that's happening to me every time we meet is not okay. I think that irresistible smile brought me into trouble. Jace, you are really in big trouble!
