Chapter 5

*Beau’s POV* As we arrived at Ms. Conti’s residence, I grabbed my Glock then, pulled back the chamber before placing it on my waistband, and then looked over at Kai. He was looking at me wide-eyed. He is not as aggressive as I can be. I will kill anyone that dares defy me. Kai, on the other hand, is a big softy. I am not sure how he is still alive in this business. “What?” I asked him. “Nothing Capo.” He replied, shaking his head. “Have you had anyone stake the place out?” I asked Kai as we parked. “Si, Capo, they are located in an SUV in the back of her building, and we have another SUV parked at the corner of the street.” He replied, motioning with his finger to the areas. “Okay, let’s go catch up with them and see if she’s made any movements.” I replied while getting out of the SUV, him following suit. As we walked toward the SUV, I had this nagging feeling that something was not right. I opened the passenger's door to the SUV and noticed both my men had a single shot between their eyes. “Fūck!” I said while grabbing my Glock from the back of my pants and getting ready just in case we had to open fire. “Go check on the other SUV and meet me back at her apartment.” I told Kai as I looked around and then closed the SUV door softly, not to make a sound. “Si Capo!” He replied, jogging towards the other SUV. I turned around and moved toward her apartment. I slowly opened the door and walked in, finding the fūcker of Lombardi sitting on the couch, messing with his phone and a gun on his lap with a finger on the trigger. “Did you think I was so naive?” Lombardi asked me while still looking at his phone. *Aiden’s POV* As soon as I left Mateos' office, I began to think that maybe he was right. If Tarantino was going to attempt to get back at us, he would try to get to any weak link, including Layla. Layla knows precisely what I do, but she refuses to move in with us on the estate. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number. “Hello, babe.” She answered. “Get a bag ready; I’m on my way to get you.” I replied as I walked down the steps. “What’s going on, Aiden?” She replied with a worried tone. I could hear the ruffling of the sheets in the background. “War is coming. I told you that you’re not safe in your apartment.” I replied, getting in one of the SUVs. “Okay, I’ll see you here.” She replied, but I spoke up again right before she ended the call. “Layla, don’t answer the door, and don’t look out the windows.” I told her. I am taking two of our most trusted men and Mateo to get Layla. … Once we arrived at Layla’s Street, Levi stopped the SUV on the opposite side. I noticed that one black SUV was parked at the corner of her street and another one at the back of the building. Mateo and I didn’t have to tell each other what would happen; we were in sync. We got out of the SUV, then pulled the chamber back of my Smith & Wesson as I slowly walked towards the SUV on the corner of the street while Levi walked to the SUV located at the back of the building. I opened the driver’s door while Mateo opened the passenger's door, and we both placed one shot on each i***t’s head, right between both eyes. “Go get Layla; I’ll go check on Levi.” Mateo told me as I nodded, walking up the stairs to her apartment two steps at a time. I grabbed my keys and unlocked the door. Once I was inside, I began looking for her in panic when I didn’t find her immediately. I walked into her room and didn’t see her. I walked toward the walk-in closet and opened the door finding her sobbing on the floor. “You’re moving in with me into the estate.” I told her, bending down to grab her while she nodded. I helped her get up and walked her behind my back out to the SUV. When we reached the SUV, Mateo was waiting right next to it. “Go with her to the estate. I’ll wait here for Tarantino.” He told me, knowing I would not get through his thick skull; I nodded. “Si Capo.” I replied as I ushered Layla into the SUV and quickly got in, right next to her before we sped out of there. “What is going on?” Layla asked me. “War has begun.” I replied. *Mateo’s POV* “Capo.” Aiden called out to me. “Si?” (Italian for Yes?) I replied, looking up at him. “I’m going to go get Layla. I’m taking Levi with the new kid.” He replied. “You know, he has a name, right?” I asked him while smiling. “Yes, but I can never remember.” He replied, shrugging his shoulders. “I’m coming with you; God knows if he has people watching the place.” I replied as he nodded, giving me the thanks without saying it. … We had arrived at Layla’s street, and just as I had anticipated, Tarantino had his men stationed here. I sent Levi toward the SUV at the back of the building to get rid of that threat as Aiden and I got rid of this one. Once we got rid of those two asšholes, I told Aiden to go and get his girl. I walked to the back of the building and saw that Levi was finishing off the third moron that Tarantino sent. “Go get the SUV ready. Aiden should be coming down with Layla any minute, and I don’t want any more incidents.” I told Levi. He nodded and walked back to the SUV. Soon after, Aiden and Layla came out of the building. The poor girl looked like she had been crying out a storm. “If you would’ve moved in with us since he first asked you, we wouldn’t be in this predicament.” I thought to myself. “Go with her to the estate. I will wait here for Tarantino.” I told Aiden. “Si Capo.” He replied. I saw them go off speeding, and I turned around, heading towards Layla’s apartment to wait for this asšhole. I know he would come to collect Layla. It was just a matter of time. To no disappointment, Fifteen minutes later I heard the faint footsteps outside her door. “He is here.” I thought to myself with a smile. I heard him open the door as I waited patiently, with my Glock on my lap, a finger placed on the trigger, and my phone, on the other hand, reading through some emails. “Did you think I was so naive?” I asked him, smirking. “I’ve been in this business longer than you, little boy. I can think ahead.” I told him again. When I looked up, he looked like he would blow up because of how pissed he was. He pointed his gun at me as I just sat back and relaxed. “Go ahead.” I threatened him as I smirked at him while looking up. He slowly turned around and left the apartment. “What a coward. What the hell was that?” I thought to myself.
