Avery Lately, I have noticed those secret and long stares from Emeri. I honestly don't know what is on her mind or if she planning of something against me? Knowing that spoiled brat reputation is no bueno. Meanwhile, Elena, the Ice Queen's best friend suddenly asked for my twin brother's cellphone number. Of course, i had a second thought of giving it to her but Elena's persistence is too much to handle. But you know what. I don't want to think about it right now because i need to focus with the exam today. Also, we have a volleyball practice after class. The national championship is coming and we have to work hard double to reach our target for this year—that's to be a contender for the championship. The weather is cold and the air is slicing under my skin while walking in the empty hallway. But I quickly stopped when something caught my attention. "Oh gosh." Good thing I have a fast reflexes and catch a girl almost collapsed on the floor. "Are you..." My eyes drifted to her face and it made me speechless. "E—emeri?" The Ice Queen looks pale and so weak to speak but she still manage to looked at me. Emeri is hot. Well yes I know she is but I'm talking about her temperature. "A—avery." "Are you okay?" I asked her worriedly. Emeri's long red hair gently cascading down off her shoulders as she tried to stand by herself. "Mm yes..." But I know she isn't. "Im okay." Her voice is shaking. "Let me go." It made me rolled my eyes at her. "Don't kidding me." If Emeri is stubborn. I'm hella stubborn too. I know she is the Ice Queen and supposed to be untoucheable. But look... Emeri's knees shake and is gripping hard now on my shoulder for support. "Take me to..." She didn't finish her words when Emeri passed out. "Help!" I screamed everywhere while holding the unconscious body of the Ice Queen. Time flies and I'm still waiting here outside the clinic. Apparently, they won't let me in and insisted to me that I should have go back to my class. But I can't just leave, I'm worried with Emeri. I want to know what happened to her—if she is okay. Yes I know we aren't close, not even friends but I still feel obligated to know everything. "Avery!" Slowly, I turned to face Elena. Emeri's best friend. "She is still inside." Elena look so worried. "What happened to her?" I pressed my head against the wall. "I'm not really sure." My chest moves up and down. "I saw her in the hallway and noticed that she is..." But the clinic doors opened. "Wait!" Elena immediately stepped in front of the nurse who just came out from the clinic. "How is Emeri?" The nurse looks annoyed. "She has a fever and needs a proper rest." I released a sigh of relief. "Can I see her?" Elena asked. "I'm her best friend." The nurse shrugged her shoulders. "Sure but only five minutes and go back to your class." "Okay.." Elena sighed. The two of us went inside the clinic. At first, of course I hesitated because I'm not sure how Emeri is going to react the moment she sees me. "Hey idiot." Elena greeted her the Ice Queen with a remark. "You should not have come to school if you don't feel well." I was standing behind Elena. "I have too." Emeri's voice is shaking. "Stupid." Elena muttered under breath. "Anyway.." She turned to me. "Avery is with me." As if on cue, Emeri's eyes met mine. Weird because I feel nervous. "She come here to check on you." My eyes drifted on the ground. Trying to find something interesting there. "Ah yeah because—" "Thank you." Emeri stated. I was completely out of words. First, I never assume that she will thanked me. But I guess I'm wrong to think that she is heartless, emotionless and all the less in the dictionary. "It's fine." I told her. "Just be careful next time." "Will do." I saw a small smile in the corner of her lips. "Okay great." Elena clapped her hands. "Now get some rest and we will go back to our class." Without saying anything more. Elena and I left. My heart feels heavy by leaving Emeri. My mind drifted to Emeri the whole class. I can't focus in discussion. I wonder how is she or if she already take a medicine? Agg. Why do I care so much? Was it enough that i help her? Or maybe I'm only over reacted? I quickly jumped out of my chair and stormed out the room when the bell rang. I ignored the calling from my friends because in my mind. I have to see Emeri. I saw the nurse outside the clinic busy doing something on the clip board. "Linda.." I called out for the nurse. She turned to look at me with a smile. "Is your class done?" I nodded my head. "How is Emeri?" "Oh they just left." She replied. "Her best friend Elena, took her home." At least I know she is safe. "Thank you." Linda looks at me meaningfully. "You are really concern with her." I felt mysf blushed. "Mm no—ah yes because.." Linda chuckled while tapping my shoulder. "That is okay." I don't know what to say. "Oh before I forgot." She handed me a paper. "A letter from Emeri." I took it without hesitation. "Thanks." "I have to go." Linda disappeared. I opened the letter. Dear Avery.. Again, thank you for saving and taking care of me. Without you, I will probably ended up in the hospital for head injury. See you. Okay, calm down my heart. You are crazy. It's just a letter. Don't be too excited. She is still the Ice Queen.
