Chapter 1
The sunlight was streaming through the window of the car and I silently watched those flame trees dancing through the wind with my mind started imaging things. Like what if the pigs were flying? Pokemon were everywhere snorlax was sleeping somewhere together with Jiggly puff.
Oh yes, I know I was being weird and all but heck can you really blame me? This is the usual scene of my everyday life while going to school and nothing has been change, people were still super busy, chasing their dreams and opportunities.
This is one of the reason why I wanted to finish my high school, eventually college. That will be my opportunity to leave this overly polluted city and travel around the world. I wanted to met new people, learn other people's culture and beliefs.
After few minutes, we arrived at my school. It was roman inspired four storey building with wide dark green tinted window which glistering by the reflection of sunrays. The familiar essence of lavender immediately intoxicating my nostril as I went out of my car and started marching inside the school.
Anyway, I'm Emeri Perron, a senior student here in Walton Academy and the famous Ice Queen of this school. Please don't ask how and why because I don't even freaking know. The cold wind kissed my cheek as I walked in the middle of the hallway. Students are giving a way like the famous red sea because they don't want to mess with me.
"I hate monday." I muttered under my breath in frustration.
My locker is separated from anyone. This is the privilege of my school since I'm the only daughter or heiress of Perron family. I shoved my books inside my locker and sigh.
"Why a long face so early in the morning Ice Queen?" I heard a familiar voice speaks behind me and I already know who it was. My best friend, Elena.
"Nothing." I stated and turned around to face Elena. She gotten even beautiful these past few years and with her body, she can be a model or more than that. "Let's go to cafeteria, I'm really hungry."
Elena smiled at me. "Sure."
"This is our last year in Walton." I said while we are dashing in the hallway, going to the cafeteria. "Finally!"
"Indeed. I couldn't wait to go to College—" Elena stopped and look at me in wonder. "Where are you going for College though Emeri?"
Of course, I wanted to be a painter and be a famous writer but my parents especially mother wanted me to a business woman like them. "In business school."
"I thought you are going to take a writing related course?"
I shakes my head. "You know I really want that but you really know, I can't." A heavy sigh escaped my mouth.
Why I can't do what I really want to do in my life? If I turn 18. Maybe I can talk to my father to move out and let me explore the world.
"Talk to your mother once again Emeri, this is for your future. It's really hard to take a course that you didn't like. How can you focus in it if you are not passionate of what you are doing?" Elena pointed out.
I just didn't say anything because I know Elena is right but I couldn't do anything about it. It ia my mother who controls my life, as in everything.
The noise died down the moment I set my feet inside the cafeteria. All people were stopped talking like there's an angel that passed by but the truth is, it is only me. My presence shut down them.
"What do you want to eat Emeri? Elena asked. "I'll get it."
I just shrugged. "I would anything Elena." When she left, I went to my table. No one dare to sit here because people knew better. I may sound a bad person but I was not. Well, As long as they don't invade my personal space and privacy then we are all good.
After few minutes, Elena came with our food. "Here is your food Queen."
"Oh my goodness, this is delicious." My mouth instantly watered by the sight of spaghetti, pizza and coffee. "And don't call me Queen."
She just shrugged it off and bite the sandwich with her eyes on me. "Are you going to the party?"
I swallowed the food first. "Mm, I'm not sure."
"Why not?" Elena inquired with a questioning look.
Oh yes I know I'm the Ice Queen but it does not mean I'm a party animal. Atually, I prefer watching documentary movie about anything and everything. "I'm not in the mood. If I go I can only see horny teenagers, weeds and alcohol."
Elena chuckled. "Hey it's not that bad." She threw the piece of bread inside her mouth. "But if you ever change your mind just shoot me message then I will pick you up."
Sometimes I was wondering how Elena can tolerate my attitude. I mean, there were really a time that I was being mean to her but she just simply ignore it and stay with me. We are friends, best friend since grade school. I couldn't deny that I'm pretty lucky to have her in my life because she is the only person I can trust.
We fell silent and my eyes drifted at the door where a group of girls entered the cafeteria. There were the varsity of volleyball team. You know, typical pretty girls, happy go lucky and wild. They sits down next to our table with their annoying laugh.
I focused in my food and had a casual conversation with Elena. She was telling me that she had a crush with this guy etc.
"Oh my gosh. I'm sorry girls." A brunette girl suddenly appeared and was sweating hard. "Traffic."
She is familiar to me but I don't know what's her name. She is stunning with her beautiful brown hair which look so soft. Those blue eyes were clear and electricfying. Her volleyball uniform really fits and emphasize the curves of her body.
"You are always late Avery, we are not suprise." One of the girl told the beautiful.
Avery gives her friends a dashing smile showing her perfectly white pearl teeth. "You are so mean." She sits down and my heart froze when our eyes met. The smile in her face slowly vanished before looking away. "Anyway girls. The game is coming up."
"Oh scratch that." One of her friend said. "Let's not talk about game now but the party."
"We are all coming aside from Avery." The other girl added.
Avery smiled. "I dont know." She said with a shake of her head. "Not my type girls but it seems like you girls were begging then.."
"Then?" The four girls said unison.
"Fine, I will go." Averi answered.
I didn't finish eating my food because I feel suddenly sick in my stomach for some reason. "Let's go Elena."
"Ha? But I'm still-" Elena was trying to protest but I give her a menancing stare. "Fine."
I could feel Avery's gaze on me before turning my heels around and walked away. We went to our class and I was totally bored the whole day. I put my earphones and turned on the music. My teachers didn't even care since they didn't want to be in trouble because my parents are the main sponsors of this school.
I came home and greeted by a letter from my parents and telling me that they left for Europe. I just tossed that piece of paper on the floor. Heck, I don't even feel suprise, they always out and didn't really care for me.
Also I took this an opportunity to do whatever I want and divert my frustration to a unwanted decision.
I grabbed my phone and calling Elena. She quickly answered my call. "Hello Lena."
There is a music in the other line. She is probably in her room. "Hey. What's up?"
I pushed the curtain and looked outside. We are living in a penthouse and view is breathtaking. The lights are shining like a glitters in the night. "What time are we going to the party?"
The music lowered. "Wait, what? Are you coming with me?"
"Yes Elena."
And out of the blue, I thought about Avery. What's wrong with me?
