Intruder

"So you're saying you ran away from home because your father's over-protectiveness?" Danielle glanced at Alyssa from the corner of her eye with amusement. That talk was definitely something quite different than what she was expecting the moment they started their walk. "And you're a princess?" Alyssa's wolf let out a soft growl at the huntress's tone. But Alyssa simply sighed. The she wolf's hold on her backpack's straps tightened for a moment, but she managed to calm herself down in no time. Her posture and behavior did not escape Danielle's alert eyes, and it all just served to make the girl's amusement grow even more. She let out a small chuckle. "Despite everything you're all the same." Danielle said and stopped. Alyssa stopped as well and turned to her with a irritated and questioning gaze. "You really shouldn't use that sarcasm on me right now, witch. It's taking a lot of willpower not to let my wolf rip your throat out." Danielle snorted and shrugged. "You could try." Alyssa's lips formed a tight line on her face and her eyes glowed for a millisecond. None of the two spoke for a moment. They just stared at each other. Alyssa's alpha soul and spirit fought to hold the huntress' gaze for as long as she could. But there was something about her that almost forced the princess into submission. It was revolting how those dark eyes cold look so placid and relaxed in the presence of a predator such as herself. That made Alyssa feel like that witch was underestimating her. She felt offended. "You-" Alyssa started, but was interrupted. "You don't have a very good relationship with your wolf spirit do you, princess?" Danielle tilted her head a little. "You're clearly not just a simple girl and you obviously don't have just a simple wolf. But you're not synchronized. It's clear for anyone to see you're both fighting for control." The gasp that left Alyssa's lips was almost inaudible, but the small whimper her wolf emitted not so much. "You really are a witch!" The princess gave a small step back. Danielle laughed softly. "You keep saying that." "Because...!" Alyssa gestured towards the huntress with a profound incredulous expression. "You don't have a scent, your strength is beyond anything I've ever seen and now you...you..." "And now I can see right through you." Danielle tried with a raised brow and a smug smirk. Alyssa made a face and crossed her arms. But still nodded slowly in the end. "I'm not a witch though. I just know a lot of stuff about your kind." "What do you mean?" Alyssa's frown only deepened. "Exactly what I said. I'm not anything special. Just someone that knows things." Danielle concluded and resumed walking. "I know why you're here. And I know what could happen if it goes wrong. That's the only reason why I'm helping you." What is she talking about?, Alyssa questioned her wolf. 'She's talking about our fate.' Her wolf replied. 'Everything until now has been the journey. Right now what I'm seeking is completion.' "Hurry up, princess." Danielle called out from the distance. Only then Alyssa realized the other had started to walk again. ~x~ "Who would have guessed, huh?" Alpha Lewis repeated for the fifth time. Leo was sure if his father or mother smiled even just a bit more their faces would fall off. Their gushing over his mating with Logan was starting to get on his nerves. Of course, he tried to make them stop a few times, but the soon to be alpha found that he wasn't as dominating as he had thought. It was almost ridiculous how whenever his wolf felt ready to lash out in the past two hours of teasing from his family and friends, he couldn't even say a word without sounding like a complete retard with just a small touch of Logan's fingertips. "I'm so glad the two of you are mates," Marlene said again while clapping her hands. "I was worried Leo would have to leave to seek for his mate. Thank the Goddess that wasn't necessary! And he got such a fine mate too!" "Ugh..." Leo grumbled low and once again Logan pressed his hand on his lower back and rubbed a small circle. It made Leo relax instantly and he couldn't help but let out a soft sigh. You're totally enjoying this, Leo complained through their shared mind. He saw through the corner of his eye that Logan was smirking. I cannot deny that statement, the prince answered. Their conversation went on for about thirty minutes. With Leo's parents and pack mates still teasing him every now and them about his mating. Victor and Aiden were the ones having most fun of them all. It made the future alpha want to rip their heads off, but Logan wouldn't let him leave his side. The most embarrassing moment was when the prince decided to take in Leo's scent when the future alpha wasn't paying attention. Logan's presence had already become so familiar right beside him he let his guard down. And when his mate buried his face in the crook of his neck to take a deep breath of his skin, the future alpha only noticed the sound that left him when he realized everyone else in the room was staring at him with teasing faces. In fact, that specific move from the prince got him the silent treatment. "Are you really that mad about the effect I have on you?" Logan asked without looking away from the future alpha's face even if he refused to look back at him. When there was no reply Logan let out a small sigh. "Can you at least look at me while I'm talking to you?" Logan furrowed his brows. "So I don't feel like I'm speaking to a wall." Leo's eyes slowly trailed off from the boring pattern of his mother's curtains and to Logan's beautiful ones. As he already expected, his resolve faltered and he knew right then and there he would end up bending to his mate's every will whenever they made a request. This is not going well, he complained to his wolf. While his wolf on the other hand simply purred in delight at the sight of Logan's victorious smile and charming dimples. And you're not helping. "Thank you," Logan reached out and placed his hand on top of Leo's. The future alpha clucked his tongue, in false irritation now. "For what?" "For accepting me as your mate. Not everyone can handle me." Logan said the last part with a curt chuckle. And Leo snorted more in agreement than amusement at the fact the other man knew he had faults. "I have no other choice if not trusting the Goddess' judgement." To that comment Logan could only shake his head before leaning in and placing a peck on his mate's lips. Completely unaware they were being observed. Leo leaning in when Logan pulled away and gave him a deeper kiss, but was interrupted by someone clearing their throat awkwardly. Both turned to the room's entrance to find Victor standing there with a mix of amusement and embarrassment on his bearded face. "What is it?" Leo said. "What's the matter?" Logan said at the same time. "Uh..." Victor was already stepping back to leave the room as he spoke. "Our patrolling teams have spotted a trespasser on our borders." There was a brief second of silence, but Leo and Logan were already following after the other warrior. "Didn't father invite one of our neighbors to meet Dani?" Leo inquired as the three of them walked down the hall to the main house's entrance where all the others were already waiting. "Maybe that's him." Victor shook his head. "Alpha Samuel is already here. We had another group of warriors escort him into our lands earlier." When they stepped out of the house they met with all the others. Nash was speaking quietly to alpha Samuel, alpha Henry and Aiden. While Samuel's daughter tried to ease Marlene's worries. "We're here," Victor announced and made his way to where Aiden and his alpha were. Leo made a move to follow, but was held back by Logan's tight grip on his wrist. Logan, the future alpha reprimanded as he glanced back at him with a warning look. Stay close to me. I don't like the way that woman is eyeing you. Logan gestured to alpha Samuel's daughter that was looking straight at him with hungry eyes. Leo's lips curled up a little and he shook his head softly. He pulled his wrist out of his mate's grip and held his hand instead. Logan's possessive and angry stare snapped away from the woman and to their linked hands before going up to his mate's face. You know... Leo stole a quick glance at alpha Samuel's daughter before resuming his walk towards his father and the rest of the alphas and warriors. I used to think she would make a great mate. Logan almost growled, but managed to just hum in reply. Don't worry. Leo snorted. The simple thought of her even flirting with me is disgusting now. "I'm glad you two finally decided to join us," alpha Henry gestured to their linked hands and them to the other men waiting in a circle. Leo gritter his teeth, but before anything left his mouth Logan squeezed his hand softly. "We apologize." The prince was the one to speak. "Newly mated wolves. They simply can't keep their hands off each other." Alpha Samuel laughed and the others soon followed his example. The significantly light atmosphere didn't last long though. We need reinforcements! One of the patrol members informed through their pack link and alpha Henry, Marlene, Aiden and Victor immediately turned their heads toward the way they felt the pack member was calling from. Leo almost let go of his mate's hand when the fear in that pack member reached him. "What's wrong?" Logan asked in a grave tone once he felt Leo's worry project itself onto him. And while his mate only had time to look at him, someone else voiced out the answer to the prince's question. "We're being attacked by an intruder."
