XVIII. Together Forever

"You really want to get killed, don't you?" The Duke stared at him with confused eyes. Jungkook was still lying on the grass, his long black hair spread around him, and a smirk was drawn on his face. "You know that the unicorns do not care about who gets in their way." he added. Taehyung simply nodded and rubbed his forehead. His strong emotions got him lost. He lost so much energy and strength that he couldn't even run and save himself from the unicorns. The half-naked guard sat down facing him. He stared at Taehyung who seemed to be completely drowned in his own thoughts. His face looked pale and tired and his usually glowing blue eyes were dark. He rubbed the back of his neck and asked, "Anything wrong?" Taehyung slowly lifted his head and looked at the young man's brownish purple eyes, "I am alright." he mumbled. Jungkook smirked, knowing the Duke was lying to him. It was more than obvious that he wasn't feeling well at all. "The pretty diamond creature broke your heart, didn't it?" Taehyung froze. He didn't move for a moment and then stared at the guard whose eyes were already rested on him. "How did you know?" he asked in a weak voice, almost sounding like a whisper. "I have eyes." the black-haired chuckled. "I can see everything." Taehyung sighed and rubbed the back of his neck. "He chose his dear King instead of you." Jungkook continued. "Must be heartbreaking." The Duke shot him a death glare. He wanted to say something, but there was nothing his tongue could pronounce. The guard's words were true, Jimin preferred the King over him and it was killing his heart. "You'll tell Adalis about it, right?" he asked with a small voice, avoiding his stare. "Well..." Jungkook stood up and adjusted his clothes. "It is my duty." he smirked. Taehyung looked at him with pleading eyes, like he was begging him not to do anything. "But I won't say it." the guard added. He looked around him, the unicorns filled the forest with their breathtaking beauty and their majestic posture. He smiled. The Duke sighed from relief and stood up. "He already knows it." Jungkook stared at him. "But I won't add fuel to the fire." "So, you mean that he is already planning to do something." Taehyung mumbled. "He wants us all dead." "Basically anyone who gets in his way." the purple-eyed chuckled. "You provoked him when you suddenly invaded the castle." Taehyung let out a loud laugh despite his lack of energy, "We provoked him? We?!" he shook his head. "He is the one who kidnapped Jimin! He provoked us!" "He wasn't planning to hurt your friend." Jungkook said, leaning his back against a tree. "Lies." the Duke rolled his eyes. "Adalis never takes someone to be friends with or offer him his hospitality. He wanted to hurt him, and I will not forgive it." Jungkook stared at him and chuckled. His annoyed face looked strangely looked good. He would pull down together his light eyebrows and his lips would be tightly closed with the red margins becoming more narrow and thinner. "So he is very important to you." "I love him." Taehyung didn't waste a time to answer. Jungkook frowned. He looked at how serious the Elf looked while stating his love for the diamond creature. "Love..." he chuckled, his gaze fixed on the grass. "I do not believe in this." he mumbled. "But it does exist." Taehyung said. The young guard stayed quiet for a long moment. He zoned out, making the Elf wonder what was he thinking about. After a few moments, he finally stared at the Duke and shrugged before he started walking. Taehyung followed him and walked by his side. "Why don't you want to believe in it?" "In what?" "Love." Jungkook turned his head to rest his eyes on the Elf's blue ones. His stare showed how much Taehyung wanted him to change his mind and believe in it like it was something very important. "It is not that I don't want to believe in it, I can't." The Elf frowned. "Why not?" Jungkook didn't answer. They walked silently and Taehyung felt awkward after asking the question. The guard's silence proved that he didn't want to talk about it, so he decided to respect his privacy. "So, what are you doing in our village again?" he asked, trying to change the subject. "Why?" Jungkook chuckled, "Am I not welcome here?" "I never said that!" The guard turned his head to look at him again, but this time he couldn't say a single word. He only watched the Elf smiling, the rays of the sun brightening his white long hair. The way his thin lips moved gently to form a smile made a simply gesture look extremely beautiful. Also, the way he blinked slowly, showed how long his eyelashes were, being one of the big charms of his handsome face. He was so lost in the beauty that he didn't realize that Taehyung caught him staring at him. "What is it?" he asked with his deep voice. Jungkook cleared his throat and looked away, "Nothing." he lied. It was now the Duke's turn to look at the young man. His long black hair was arranged in a ponytail as usual and was cascading along his shoulders. His eyes couldn't help looking at his naked body. His skin looked smooth but it was unfortunately ruined with a dozen of scars that caught his attention. He looked at him nervously and dared to ask, "When did you get those?" Jungkook lowered his head to see what the Elf was pointing at and laughed. "Really." he shook his head. "You are really playing at how to find someone's weakness game." "Oh, no!" Taehyung exclaimed. "I never meant it. I am sorry, I didn't know it was an intimate thing." "It is alright." Jungkook sighed. "It is a part of my past and I would prefer not to talk about it." "Of course." Taehyung nodded, pressing his lips. "I am sorry, I should have been more careful." They walked silently again, enjoying the early morning breeze. They were alone in the middle of the forest, surrounded by trees and the beautiful melody created by the songbirds. Taehyung would steal a glance at the young guard to make sure he's not hurt anymore because of what he asked earlier. A few moments later, the azure sky was taken over by a dark grey and the bright sun suddenly disappeared behind the clouds. Jungkook sighed knowing he was close to Adalis's castle. "I think it is better for you to leave now." he told the Duke. "The Prince might feel your presence in our territory." Taehyung stopped walking and looked at the black-haired guard who looked disappointed to arrive early. "Will you come back to the village?" he asked. "Why?" Jungkook laughed, "I thought I was not welcome there." "I never said that." the Duke crossed his arms. "You don't want to harm anyone, so you will always be welcome." The guard let out a small chuckle, "I am not the nice creature you think I am, but I must thank you for your kindness." The Elf smiled, "Well, it is time for me to go." Jungkook nodded. He started walking and stopped. He turned and found the Duke still staring at him. "Do not let something like love shatter your heart." he said. "Live your life loving yourself more than anyone else." Taehyung's eyes grew wider as he proceeded the guard's words. He never expected someone working for Adalis to be thinking this wisely. He smiled and nodded slowly, promising himself to always put himself first. He looked at Jungkook and mumbled a small 'thank you' before heading back to the village. "Wait!" he heard Jungkook calling. He turned and approached him. "Also, make sure not to try to kill yourself. I don't know if I will be able to save you again." he smirked and ran to the castle.
