Chapter 5 The shrieking claxon reverberating through Mendoza’s mansion snapped Ren awake. He had not slept nearly long enough, but realized that was all he’d get for now. Darzul came awake as well, rolling off the bed and rummaging for his clothes. “Get dressed,” he ordered. “If we aren’t there in a few more minutes, we’ll be lucky to only get sent packing.” They finished buttons and buckles as they loped down the corridor, settling weapons in the proper places as they reached with every sense to discern what was wrong.
