CHAPTER 4

Chapter 4 The city of Lycans was nothing human guests expected... It was too modern for barbarian creatures. The city had mighty gates and an impenetrable wall. In the outer portion of the city, where the commoners lived, there were well-built cottages and huts. Humans were now transported in a single carriage. They looked out the window of the fancy, royal carriage they were in and marveled at the wonder outside. The Lycans they saw by the roadside were all mature and fully clothed. They went about their day in their human forms like regular humans. Their eyes followed the carriage as it drove past them because they could smell the people inside. They were observant and watchful, yet their demeanor suggested hostility. The inner city, where the royal palace was situated was in the middle of the kingdom, surrounded by a moat and tall towers The one distinguishing feature of the lycan king's castle was the blue rose and wolf embedded flag on one of the towers on the left side of the gatehouse. The castle was well guarded with lycans parading on the battlement. The carriage drove under the portcullis; an iron gate over the drawbridge with hefty-looking guards who rolled the chains of the iron gates. A sense of fear gripped the family as they felt like they were in a wolf den. The couple was treated nicely while Aurora was harshly pulled out of the carriage to the middle of the bailey. As Aurora was dragged away, her parents watched in contempt, unable to protect their daughter from the unknown fate that awaited her. However, it was not like they wanted to. The bailey had a large amount of lycans gathered both male and female. The females were particularly rough with Aurora, forcing her to kneel in their midst. As if they were savages, they tore her dress, stripping her naked and bringing her to tears. Aurora tried to hide her breasts since they were the only things she could protect as the cold of the evening whipped her. She couldn't look up; her eyes and harsh words left her devastated. She felt a wave of humiliation washing over her as she remained motionless, desperately wishing for an escape. All this while, the Lycan king was not present. He walked amid his people who gave way for him and his entourage to reach the center. He immediately grimaced as he saw the state Aurora was in. "Who did this?" He thundered. His anger was palpable as he glared at those around him, waiting for an answer. The lycan females that stripped Aurora suddenly felt like the earth should open and swallow them whole. There was no response as the lycans stood still, too afraid to even breathe. Their teeth clamored as they imagined what their Alpha King would do to them as punishment. He never complained when they did this to the other human girls brought into the kingdom. However, for reasons unknown to them, he was angry at them this time. He was a brutal king. He may not allow the females to return to their families with all their limbs intact. "My King," a white-haired woman behind the lycan king began, distracting the king from his anger. He gave her a look that pierced through her soul but the woman was not fazed. "She is the one," the woman said with confidence. Her gaze never wavered from that of the king's. That was enough information to get the lycans present to roar for joy even though the news wasn't directly told to them. They had gone over this over and over again but this was the first time the witch accepted a human girl. The lycan king looked down at the girl he already suspected was destined for him and ordered, "Prepare her and take her to my chambers." His command was met with unanimous approval, and the Lycans roared in celebration again, celebrating a union they had all been hoping for. The lycan maids of the castle came forward and led away the confused Aurora after covering her up. The news quickly spread round the kingdom and many lycans started flooding the palace gates. The kingdom of lycans had been barren for centuries, no pup had been born in all those years. Lycans can live for centuries, but they are not fully immortal, they pass after a certain amount of time. It was said that the goddess cursed lycans because of their wicked nature. However, the curse was all linked to their King who was the most brutal of them all but the goddess also left a loophole to break the curse. Lycans were extremely prideful creatures who looked down on other supernaturals not as powerful as they were. However, they had a peculiar hatred for humans and killed them for no reason. The goddess saw this and cursed the Lycans. The end of their curse was vested in their alpha; only when he finds his human mate will his people be free from their curse. The lycan king has been looking for his human partner for years, buying as many of them from their families. However, they were not the ones so he allowed his people to do as they pleased with the human girls... "My King," the witch Sarina whispered beside the Lycan king, "the ritual must be completed before you can mate with her." "Very well," he nodded, "let us carry out the ritual as soon as possible." A mind link carrying a message was immediately sent to the maids tending to Aurora. They brought her back but she was dressed in a white flowing dress that showed off her n*****s; it was meant for only the Alpha King's eyes. Aurora stared around in fear as she was dragged to a newly created altar. Her parents were standing by but they didn't look like they were willing to help her situation. She called out to them desperately, pleading and shouting at the top of her lungs. In response, her parents threw their gaze away from her. That was enough for Aurora to know her fate was sealed. The Lycan king stood at the altar. He was bare-chested with a blue velvet cloak hanging around his neck. As a result of the night breeze, the cloak dances in the air. For a moment, Aurora paused. This was the first time since her ordeal began that she looked at the lycan king face to face and frankly, she was speechless. She expected to see a monster, a beast but the man at the altar was quite the opposite of what she expected. She was met with a strong figure, whose kind demeanor and wise eyes betrayed his true age and experience. He was a god.
