The Shopping Trip

1897 Words
I got to take things in my own hands. “Allison why don’t we go and hang out with Liz and Tia and take them shopping?” “Oh, that’s ace, a proper girl day for us” she squeals. So, we both send texts to Tia and Liz, they are obviously up for it too. At the end of School, we are heading down the corridor when Jack walks the opposite way. He looks at me and smirks. I nearly trip but managed to balance myself out before anything worse happens. Jack stops and turns around just as we pass him. Allison just carries on her usual chat unaware that Jack now walks behind us. “Oh, I am so excited to go shopping, I really need some new clothes, now it’s getting colder” she says. Jack stops again just as he is joined by Rose. We pack our bags in the boot of my car. Jack and Rose walk towards us. “Hey you!” Jack says. “Got anything planned this weekend?” I look at him slightly startled... Allison nudges my arm “No nothing after today.” Allison says. “We kind of take each day as it comes” I add. “Oh cool, I mean err… we going to hang out tomorrow if you two want to join us?” Jack says looking at me. He never actually looked anywhere else but at me, which makes me slightly uncomfortable. Rose gives him an elbow in his Ribs, and he huffs. “Yeah sure, we will” Allison says getting out a piece of paper. She writes her number down, then mine and hands it to Jack. “Figured you might want Summers number too” she smirks as Rose gave her an angry stare. “Just text us details and we will be there” she adds. Rose grabs Jacks arm pulling him away as he puts the piece of paper in his jacket pocket.   “Wow, what was that?!” Allison squeals out as we are getting into the car. “I don’t know, really” I answer. “Honestly, this is freaking me out! I been with Jack in the same year for the last 4 years and not once has he ever acknowledged me. It was always just him and Rose! You are here like, what, five days? And you get invited to their exclusive group. The best-looking Guy in School and I get to see him tomorrow! Good that we are going shopping! I can’t believe my luck!” Allison stresses and freaks out. “Right lovely, first of all, you need to start to breathe and second … I don’t think it got anything to do with me that they invited us. He probably noticed, finally, how much fun you are” I smile at her. “Did you see Rose? She didn’t look quite as amused!” she giggles.  “Let’s go and get Tia and Lizzie and tell them all about it!” she screams full of excitement. All I can think off right now is if “He” will be there too. What if He is there and What if he is not? I throw all these thoughts to the back of my mind and try to enjoy my time with the girls. We went for food then shopped our hearts out before returning Home. Dad was home and cooked for us, so we all sat at the table just talking and having fun enjoying each other’s company. Allison and Tia have been picked up by their Dad. Liz took off upstairs with her bags to sort them away. I took my phone looking at it nervously … secretly hoping He would text me. Walking out on the porch sitting in one of the rocking chairs, looking towards the Woods. I fall into thoughts. Really random but why did I hear a growl the other day, but Allison didn’t or why can I smell this scent, but Allison never mentioned anything. I feel this heat again. Heat creeping up and down my Body. The hottest in my chest and even though it’s not that cold outside, I can see my breath. Before I know it, I am running into the forest. Faster and faster, Trees are just a blur going past. Just following the feeling that seems to lead me somewhere. I reach an open meadow filled with flowers. I sit down in the middle of it. I place my hand on my forehead pulling my knees up before resting both my arms on them. It’s so peaceful… Out of nowhere jumps a little Bunny in front of me but as fast as it came it’s gone again. As I look up, I see a pair of eyes staring at me from the dark of the forest. My heart starts racing and my breathing quickens. I feel this heat roaring up a fire as I get ready to run. Just then a gush of wind coming from that direction and I instantly relax smelling this scent again. My Eyes try to focus, to try and see who is looking at me with those big black eyes. I hear another noise coming from behind me and in the next second this big, massive wolf runs past me, in the direction the noise just came from. I am confused and a bit scared, so I start running back Home. This Wolf was no ordinary wolf, honestly, he was huge and could have taken my life with a hit of his paw. I run fast … so fast my throat felt on fire. It hurts. I run straight up the stairs and locked myself in the bathroom. I try to calm myself down and turn the water on. Sitting in the shower, I let the water rain down on me. I probably remained there for quite some time as it knocked on the door, I noticed that the water had run ice cold. “Are you alright?” Liz asks. “Yeah, don’t worry just forgot the time really” I say, which isn’t even a big lie. I dry myself then slip into my pyjamas as it’s now super late. I am happy it’s the weekend and I don’t have to get up early. I sit at the window bay and look outside; the moon seems so bright tonight … I smile widely. As I climb into my bed, my last thought again travels to Damian and his gorgeous smile.   I wake up late, not wanting to get up I snuggle back into my pillows. The Day is already in full swing. I hear talking in the kitchen, so I decide to get up, my stomach starts a rebellion of its own. “I am getting up, alright” I think to myself. Grabbing my Phone, I notice I already have 3 Texts. Two are from Allison, stressing about later today and what she should wear. I smile to myself. And one text was from an unknown number, I reckon it will be Jack as it’s got details about where they will be and what time to be there. The Text ends with “can’t wait to see you” a little hiss escapes my lips and I shudder. I get up, to walk downstairs in the kitchen. Liz and Dad are sitting at the table eating lunch. “Jeez, Summer I didn’t think you was going to get up at all today. “Dad says with a smile, Liz snorts.  “She will need to if she wants to go to her date”. “Date? Hardly!” I exclaim. “It’s just a few of us hanging out, that’s all”. “Allison tells a different story alright” Liz shoves the phone in my face. “well, she exaggerates things a bit” I quickly grab an apple as well as a sandwich, which was waiting for me in the fridge, freshly made this morning.  I sit on the table scoffing my face. I notice dad looking at me. Quietly. “Summer, I know you are nearly 18 now but please don’t stay out too long tonight, at least if you do let me know where you are.” He says with a bit of sadness in his voice. “No worries dad” I try to get out with my mouth full of food. Liz chuckles “Very elegant Summer” I look at Liz giving her a wink. Dad gets up and walks over, he pulls me up from my chair into a hug and I nearly choke on my sandwich “Don’t ever forget Girls, Mom and I will always love you” He walks out after that into his office and shuts the door. Confused I look at Liz “what was that?” I ask. “I don’t know, he is behaving funny for a few days now” Liz answers shrugging her shoulders. “Just yesterday he told me how proud Mom would be” she adds, tears forming in her eyes. I just walk over and hug her tight. We stood there for a good few minutes before my stomach growled demanding more food. We both laugh and I sit down to carry on eating. “Hey Liz? What if you help me to pick an outfit and put a little makeup on?” She starts making a little happy dance “You won’t regret that” she lets out a squeal and runs up the stairs. Smirking to myself I finish my food and wash up my plate then I follow her up into my room. With loads of laughter, we manage to pick out an outfit. My favourite pair of dark blue jeans with a mustard sweatshirt that is hanging down on my right shoulder. We picked it out yesterday on our shopping trip. Just as I finish getting changed it knocks on the front door. Dad shouts up letting us know Allison and Tia have arrived. They join us and there is even more laughter now as we are making jokes on how we think the evening is going to go. Liz goes and grabs her makeup box; she is very unimpressed with my basic selection of makeup items I randomly picked up when in the shop. “Just remember Liz, a little makeup. I don’t want to look like a try hard to impress anyone.” I warn Lizzie. “Don’t be silly” she counters …. “we all know who you want to impress, Summer” With a big cheesy smile on her face Allison grabs some eyeshadow. I just sigh loudly “we don’t even know for sure if he will be there.” “Don’t think he would miss that chance Summer, if he really smiled at you, we will soon find out” Allison says confident.
