“Hey Liz” I answer the phone. “Can you come and pick me and my friend up and take us home?” she asks. “Oh, Liz you are so lucky. We are just getting ready to go. We pick you up alright.!” “We?” she asks confused. “I explain later see you soon!” I hang up. I try to look at him again, but their table is empty. I sigh loud and Allison looks at me laughing. “Sisters Hey! – Know that feeling.” They must have left a few moments before, I could still smell this incredible scent, it nearly makes me trip over as I follow Allison out of the Restaurant.
Luckily, I caught myself at the door as we were walking out. Jack let’s out a chuckle as he was holding out a hand ready to catch me again.
“Didn’t know I had this effect on you, that you would nearly fall twice in the same day” I felt my cheeks burn as I look up at him, rushing to steady myself. “Don’t flatter yourself Jack” Allison says quickly. “She got her eyes on another Guy.” I wish the ground would swallow me up. Right here and this instant! I don’t even know what the hell to say to that so decide to say nothing at all. I hear a low growl and Jack flinches slightly. I can’t make out where it came from, but we see Aiden, Jo and Rose come running from behind him, as if they needed to help him. I stare at them wondering why the mysterious Guy wasn’t with them. As if Allison could read my mind, she turns around looking past the Group shouting “Where is your other Friend gone? What was his name again?” smirk on her face as she turns back looking at me.
“Oh… errrmmm… Damian? He had to errrmm… get some stuff done.” Jack stutters out.
“Well, that’s a shame, would have liked to meet him, right Summer?” Allison says waiting for me to say something but in my head, I just kept repeating his name. Damian … Damian a name sounding so strong and powerful. It’s like music in my ears. I shake my head to snap out of my trance. “Oh yeah … well it was great seeing you and nice to kind of meet your friends too. We got to go and pick my sister up! See you guys later!” I grab Allison by her arm and start walking towards my car. “Hey Girl, we could have questioned them about your mystery Guy a bit more at least we know his name is Damian” “Did you hear a growl when Jack was talking to us? Before everyone came running, I mean?” I ask her.
“A growl?” looking at me with big questioning eyes. “well, that’s what I thought it sounded like” Maybe I was making things up again, honestly, I feel like I am losing my mind. “Thinking back there was something but not sure it was a growl more like his stomach was rumbling” she jokes around. “They ate when we did” and we both start to laugh. The rest of the journey was spent with loads of laughter as I didn’t want to make Allison feel that I am over stressing things about this very awkward encounter!
We arrive at the place Liz and I had picked as pick-up location. Funny enough she jumps in the car with her friend and Allison starts to laugh out loud. “You got to be kidding me. As if our little Sisters make friends on the first day too! Summer this is Tia, my little Sis. Tia, this is my new friend Summer” We all start laughing. We drop Tia and Allison home before returning Home ourselves. “This was a very tiring first day” Liz chuckles. “Oh, you have no Idea Liz, I nearly tripped twice into the same Guy” I tease her. “Want to tell me all about it?” she asks. “It’s late now and we got to be up very early in the morning again, maybe another time.” I pretend yawn because I really just want to shower and get to bed. I just want to think through all the stuff happened and of course to think about him. Right now, it feels like as if he is the glue holding me together. How crazy do I sound?
I get upstairs and jump in the shower. Feeling the warm water run down my body. I feel hot, so bloody hot. I turn the Shower on cold, but I still feel hot! Getting out of the shower I dry my hair and get dressed but not in my Pyjamas but in my gym clothes. His smile just won’t let me rest. Every time I think about him, I feel so hot! So, I decide I go for a quick run as usually it helps me free my mind. I rush past Liz. “Going for a quick run, back in half an hour!” She just shakes her head. I feel like I am drawn outside. I put my music on as usual and start jogging. This heat needs to be run off; I think to myself. As I start to push myself to my limits the trees start to fly past me. I don’t think I ran this fast …ever.
…his smile… did he smile at me? Why can’t I get him out of my head? I haven’t even talked to him. Before I know it, I am standing at a lake. It’s getting dark and the sun reflecting on the water has me hypnotised. I stand still just watching. Everything seems so peaceful. Then I close my eyes just taking it all in, breathing slowly.
I can smell the scent again. Cinnamon, apples and a hint of Vanilla. I breathe it in deeply. I hear a snap of a branch, I sharply open my eyes looking all around me till my eyes land on a black shadow near a big bush, I gasp. The Shadow disappears … “Wait” I shout but the shadow is gone. I sigh and wait a few moments if the shadow returns but nothing. I start to run back but the Scent is still there. I really don’t understand what’s up with this. As I get home it is dark. Liz sat outside on the porch with Dad. “Bit longer than half an hour, hey” Liz shouts. “Sorry, I just couldn’t stop.” I smile. They walk inside the house. I turn around again looking back towards the Forrest There is my Shadow again and I smile. I hear this voice again “Safe” nothing else. Just this one word that offers so much comfort. And the Shadow is gone again. I walk in to take another shower then fall dead on my bed. Next time I wake it’s still dark I rub my eyes as they are so heavy, I fall straight back to sleep, well that until my alarm goes off. I huff and puff as I really don’t want to get up. The rest of the week felt like such a bore … nothing happened. We hung out with Allison and Tia, either at our house or at theirs. I am not going to lie but I felt so empty after all those days. There was no chance of seeing “Him”.
