"How was your school day Lily?" Mother asked while father placed a scrumptious meal on the table. Today, they were not too busy so Father cooked dinner for us. Also, he made my favorite dessert. For all you know, I have a sweet tooth and I am head over heels with leche flan glazed in vanilla. As for Mother's question. Honestly, I don't have a heart to tell my parents what really happened at school today. They have a lot to think about, too busy working and i don't want them to worry about me especially my encountered with Aerin. I forced myself to smiled and lied. "It was okay Mom. Same old same old," "Are you sure?" Mother asked skeptically. By the look of her face told me that she doesn't believe me. She is my mother and she would feel it if something is wrong with me. "Is everything okay?" "Yes Mom." I replied still smiling at her like an i***t. My cheeks and jaw started to hurt though. "I made some friends," "That's good sweety!" Father yelled happily from the kitchen. "It would be great if you invite them here tomorrow," "But Honey we have a full load this week," Mother interjected then turned her attention back at me. "Maybe next week Lily." I just nodded my head as a yes. "We are going to Bakersfield tomorrow for a photoshoot and probably come home late but i will give you my card so you can use it for anything you want," "Thanks!" Was the only word i could say. Though i was used to being alone whenever they needed to go out of town. I still feel sad and lonely. Father sat down next to Mother and the three of us started to eat together. "Oh gosh Dad, you are getting better and better at cooking." Father gave me an amused smile. "Why thank you," "Anyway Lily," Mother murmuned but did not look at me. "Have you met someone at school? A girl that you liked?" I was not sure why Cameron was the person who came into my mind by that question. "You have?" I accidentally dropped my fork. "Hmm. Not yet," My mother fell silent and stared hard on my face. "But why do i have a feeling that you are lying to me?" Why can't I hide anything from my her? "Fine! I met this girl," I sighed in defeat. "She is very popular, a cheerleader and really beautiful," I felt my cheeks grow hot and narrowed my eyes down my plate. "But.." my parents looked at me in anticipation. "Cameron kinda belongs to the other side," "What other side?" Father asked while chewing his food. I grabbed my water and brought it to my lips, "Bad side. " "Ohh.." they both said in union. The sound of chattering, laughters along with the plates colliding with spons and forks could be heard all over the cafeteria when we came in. As usual, all eyes were still on me like yesterday but i simply ignored it. "Our conversation was interrupted yesterday," Leslie whispered as we dashed through the crowds. "So Lily, When did you know that you are lesbian?" "Hmm. Since freshmen year in High School." I replied with a sulky expression. "So you are NBSB?" Leslie asked. "Just in case you did not know." a playful smile crept across her face. "No Boyfriend Since Birth," "Yes, I'm NBSB," I shot Leslie a look while we were on our way to our table. "No Boyfriend, Still Blessed," Leslie laughed and shook her head at me. "Right!" My heart automatically swelled up when i got a glimpsed of a familiar figure coming inside the cafeteria. Cameron looked like she was fresh out of a run way. She is always wearing her famous smile that will brighten up your world. "Anyway where is Grey--" I was taken aback when out of nowhere the Queen Bee appeared in front of me and before i could stop my feet, everything happened in a slow motion. My spagetti from the tray i was carrying flew onto Aerin's shirt. There was a dead silence. I felt sweat rolling from my forehead down my jawline. "Oh gosh," The look of Aerin's face was priceless, her eyes were big and her mouth ajar. "What the f*ck!" "I.. i'm sorr---" but before i could finish my words, Aerin already threw the juice she was holding onto my face. A laughter and whispering erupted inside the cafeteria. "Don't open your freaking mouth!" Aerin snarled at me. There were veins poppin out of her forehead. She angrily grabbed me from the collar of my shirt. "Do you want to know what I can do? Of what I'm capable of?" "Ler her go!" Leslie cried. "Don't f*****g interfere here," Aerin harshly muttered under her breath to Leslie without breaking eye contact with me. The truth is, I was not afraid of her but since i want to finish my senior year peacefully then i have to stay lowkey. "I already told you to stay where you are and definitely away from me Nerdy!" "What is happening!" Cameron suddenly appeared by my side. Confusion written all over her face. She looked at Aerin then to me. "Stop it Aerin," the green eyed girl grabbed Aerin's hand. "Let her go," she was not begging but demanding. Aerin's jaw tightened as she slowly released me. The Queen Bee did not say anything but stared at me. I was totally dead in her eyes. "Why are you wasting your time and energy with.." Cameron glanced at me. "She is no one here!" My heart sunk to my feet when i heard those words from Cameron. Yes, I'm not expecting any kindness or concern from her but she shouldn't have insulted me in front of many people. Then i felt my eyes started to pool with tears, I hurried out of the cafeteria despite of Leslie begging me to stop. My feet brought me inside the rest room, cleaning my stinky face and wet shirt. "Lily.." Leslie came in with a concern look on her face. "Here," she handed me a white shirt and short. "Change your clothes," I took a long and deep breath before turning my face to my friend. I barely knew Leslie but in my heart she is the only person i could trust here. "Thank you," Leslie gave me an assuring smile. "Come on, we have a volleyball game today," My eyes lit up when i heard about Volleyball. I was a big fan of the sport and used to play it since i was in grade school but did not have a oppurtunity to pursue it because the living conditions of my family. There were few people inside the gym, i can't recognize most of them and before we can sit down i heard a voice shouted my name and rushed towards me. "Lily!" Grey was breathing hard. He looks pale and is sweating hard probably because of running. "I heard.." he gulped down some air. "What happened! Are you okay?" "Yes father," I snorted, playfully rolling my eyes. "Jeez. You sounded like my father, Grey!" Grey sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. "I'm serious Lily," I felt his genuine concern but i honestly don't want to talk about it. "What they did to you? Aerin and Cameron will both hear something from me." I placed my hand over his should. "Don't please," and shook my head as a disapproval. "Let's forget it," "Let's respect her decision Grey," Leslie interjected. Grey contemplated for awhile. He has a internal battle whether to agree or not but you know what, it feels great to have some company in time like this. "Ookay," the three of us settled down on the bench and watched some students warming up. "Anyway girls. Tomorrow is our birthday and we are throwing a party. I hope you girls could come." Leslie and I looked at each other. I have been to some parties and based on my experienced. There were many horny teenagers, alcohol was flowing, weed etc and the aftermath of the party was not good. "I don't know," I replied as my fingers started to play with the hem of my shirt. This is actually one of my mannerism when I am thinking of something. "I'm not a party person," because i rather stay at home and watch netflix or read books. I turned to face Leslie who is busy playing with her phone. She is such a gamer. "How about you?" Leslie's brows raised. "If you come then i would." Grey stood and shifted his weight. This is the first time i just noticed Grey's perfect body. Maybe he is part of a varsity team. Basketball, Football or Soccer? Heck. I don't know. "Please girls. Come to our party as a birthday present," "Should we wrap ourselves up, or should we go in our birthday suits?" Leslie asked Grey with a sly smirk. "The b***h probably will be there too." her eyes glittered in concern. "What if Aerin did something to Lily again? Will you protect her?" "Yes!" Grey said immediately. "I will do everything in my power to protect you," he said directly to me. "You and Leslie," "Let me think about it first Grey," I gave him a smile. A heavy and huge sigh escaped my mouth when Aerin and Cameron entered the gym. Their face were both cold like ice and emotionless like a dead soul. "They are here," Leslie murmuned really lowly. Grey watched his twin and Aerin talking and laughing. I unconciously gaze cruised Cameron's figure. The volleyball uniform really fits her, it shows those smooth ivory long legs, her red hair swayed in a neat ponytail. "Ignore them," our coach entered the gym. "Okay. I have to go. Just tell me if something happens," To my lack Aerin and I were teammates. I will be playing a setter and she will be the libero. The game began and did all my best to ignore Aerin. I ran fast towards the second ball and when i was about to get it Aerin's elbow hit my face. "Ahh.." I clutched my nose but i tasted a blood inside my mouth. "Hey. That is unsportsmanlike man!" Leslie screamed at Aerin but the Queen Bee just shrugged her shoulder. "Stop it girls!" the coach said a little impatient. "Back to the game!" I gave Leslie a nod to assure her that everything is okay. Maybe Aerin did not really mean it since Volleyball is a physical game. Some of my teammates helped me stand which i gave them a grateful smile before we all go back to our position. Cameron jumped in full swing as she extended her right arm while approaching the ball in the air and before we could react the ball already landed on the floor. "Yeah!" Cameron yelled in victory as our eyes met and her beautiful face broke into a smile. "Let's beat them!" "In your dreams!" i heard Aerin scoffed. The ball served, One of my teammate easily took the ball and lifted it up. I put more pressured in my legs as i jumped to set the ball but Aerin bumped on my side really hard that sent me flat on the floor. "Lily!" Leslie cried out and kneel down beside me. "This is not a freaking MMA match!" "It hurts." I winced in pain while holding my right knee. "What did you do Aerin!" I heard Cameron yell at the Queen Bee. Her face was so red. "You are such..." "What you mad?" Aerin asked casually as if nothing happened, as if she did not do anything wrong to me. "Take her to the clinic," our teacher told Leslie. "And you Ms. Aerin Brian go to the principal office," "What!? You can't do that to me!" Aerin argued. "Yes i can, so go to the principal office!" our teacher examined my knee. "Put an ice on it," "I will take her to the clinic," Cameron said, her eyes softened while looking at me. "Come on," she helped me to sat up. I could not think of anything right now but the pain. Cameron wrapped her arm around my waist. "Be careful " I put my arm over her shoulder so i have a support to stand. "Let her be Cameron!" Aerin demanded. Cameron glanced at her without any emotions. "You have no right to dictate me Aerin. I will do what I want and what i think is right."
