I cannot focus in the class because of the tension between the twins but what really bothered me was the stealthy stares of Cameron. She really thought I did not notice them? Or is she planning something on me? But whatever it is, I need to stay away from the twins especially Cameron.
But thank God, the bell rang. I wordlessly stood up, shoved my notebook inside my bag and quickly went out of the classroom.
"Lily! Wait!" Grey called out my name but I decided to ignore it. Heck. Why can't he just leave me alone? "Hey!" I flinched when Grey grabbed my arm.
"Do you need anything?" I asked casually while we are marching down the busy hallway where students are still looking at me.
Grey sighed. "Maybe you dislike my sister because of what she and Aerin have done to you but can we please be friends?"
Why would a popular guy want to befriend a nerd like me? There are many interesting people out there that he could spend his entire time with. I honestly have no idea but by the look of Grey's handsome face. Agh. I hate it. Don't take it wrong, I'm lesbian and protected by my gay shield but Grey seems to be a nice person and really different from his twin.
"Yeah sure," I replied in indecision.
Grey gave me a appreciative smile. "Thank you!" he stepped forward. "Where is your next class?" I was about to answer when someone pushed me hard. I stumbled on my feet but Grey catch me on time. "What is your problem Aerin!"
"Why are you with this nerd?" the stoic Queen Bee questioned him. "Don't tell me she is your new toy?"
"Shut up!" Grey's spat out and his face turned more red. I could feel his nerves pulsing hard. "Leave us alone and mind your freaking business,"
Aerin just shrugged her shoulders and looked straight into my eyes. "Bye nerdy," as she turned around and leaving along with her two other friends.
Grey's face look like he was about to explode but when i touched his arm. All his anger has vanished into thin air. "Are you okay Lily?" Grey asked, his eyes softened. "She is such a b***h," I did not say a thing. "Just tell me if she does something wrong to you,"
"Yeah, thanks," I replied shortly, a little upset because it seems like Aerin is picking on me. I honestly thought that our first encounter was only an accident. "Grey, i think you should stop talking to me,"
Grey's brow creased in confusion. "Why? Is this because of Aeri--"
"It was not about her," I immediately cut him off. "Or anyone here," now, i feel guilty. Grey is a nice guy. "I just don't want any trouble and did not want to make everything worse." Grey fall silent. "Bye," then i left and searched for my second class.
I felt like a dead man walking in the middle of the room where all eyes on me when i entered my second class. You can do this Lily. Just few more months and you will get out of here. I silently sat down at the back of room and put my walls up.
"Hi," someone whispered beside me. I lazily tilted my head to the side and saw a very pretty brunette girl. "Are you Grey's girlfriend?"
A frown set on my forehead. "What?"
The pretty girl scooted her chair and leaned closer to me. "You are the talk of the campus right now,"
"I don't know what you are talking about,"
The pretty girl chuckled. "Well, let me explain," she paused and took a deep breath. "People thought that you are the newest girlfriend of the famous Grey Williams!"
"That is not true," I told her. "I just met him today,"
The pretty girl stared hard on my face as if she was reading what is going through my mind. If i was telling the truth or not. "Anyway. I'm Leslie,"
"Elizabeth," we shook each other's hand with a smile on our face. "But you can call me Lily,"
"Leslie and Lily what a great combination," Leslie said and clasped her hands together. "We are going to be besties,"
"Yeah," the words drew slowly out of my mouth. The muscle of my jaw hardened when i saw the glimpsed of the most beautiful, feminine and sexy girl gracefully walking in the middle of the classroom. She radiated from within that rendered her irresistible to both genders. "M-maybe," i felt something in my stomach when her mesmerizing green eyes were piercing on me.
"Wow, you got the twins," Leslie whispered really lowly.
"Ha?"
There are a lot of empty seats but Cameron chose to sit down beside me. I was suddenly lured by her sweer scent of a flower.
"Oh lord, you have blessed me so much today," Cameron murmured under her breath then she turned to me. "Hello Elizabeth," she flashed me a dazzling smile. "My brother's girlfriend,"
"I'm not his girlfriend," I said, rolling my eyes. "Why would you guys think i was his girlfriend? We are different!"
Cameron's eyes never left my face. I don't like how she made me feel so naked just by looking at me. "Different? What are you? From Mars?"
"No from Venus," I said sarcatically making Leslie laugh. "What i mean is-" I was interrupted when our teacher came in. We all paid attention to the discussion aside from Cameron who is humming a song while writing something on her book. I could not deny that her beauty captivated me from my head to toes. She is just..
"Stop looking at me like that," I heard Cameron whispered.
I felt my cheeks burn in embarrassment. "I- I was not,"
Some of her red hair cascading down her feminine shoulders. "Sure you were," there is a playful smile on Cameron's beautiful face. "But you know, i would not mind. You can stare at me anytime and anywhere you want,"
I just shook my head in disbelief. Cameron is so cocky. I simply ignored her remark and focus on the class until the bell rang. One more subject left then i can go home and get out of here.
"Hey, are you hungry?" Leslie asked as soon as our teacher left as well our classmates including Cameron who left without any words. I took off my eyeglasses and wiped the sweat sitting in my eyebrows. "Do you have an eyesight problem?"
How am i supposed to answer her question? I barely know Leslie or is she trustworthy?
"Lily!" Grey suddenly appread behind me. "I was looking for you,"
"Why are you looking for me?" I asked uninterestedly as i put my eyeglasses on before facing Grey.
Grey scratches his eyebrow while looking at me. He has green eyes like Cameron but his were a little dark green and dull. "I just wanted to ask if you want to eat,"
"Ohh.." I sighed. "Well, actually Leslie and I here are going to eat now,"
"Yeah. Do you wanna come?" Leslie asked Grey. The way she looked at him you would feel like she is hiding something with those stares but Grey seems not to notice.
"If it's okay with Lily," Grey said, a little unsure.
As much as i wanted to stay away from him but i felt trapped between them. I did not have a heart to refuse Grey especially if Leslie gave me a hopeful stares.
"Yeah, sure," I sighed in defeat.
The three of us headed to the famous cafeteria where all the drama happens. As expected there were a lot of students chattering and eating but once we stepped our foot inside the noise died down and our ears met a deafening silence.
"Ignore them," Grey whispered to me as he accompanied me to the table. "I will get us food girls,"
"Are you sure?" I asked him. He is not my slave or what. "I can go with you,"
Grey shook his head with a smile. "Just sit here okay," then he walked away.
"He must really like you," Leslie whispered.
I gently brushed my bangs that fell on my face. Sometimes i have an urge to get scissors and cut these annoying bangs. "Why would you say that?"
Leslie looked up at me through her eyelashes. "That is the first time we all seen Grey making an effort for someone, especially for a girl," her eyes were sparkling while talking to about Grey. It is really obvious that Leslie has a crush on him.
Maybe i should tell her something that will set her heart from torment and agony.
"Can you keep a secret?"
"I guess," Leslie replied in confusion, her eyebrows raised questinably.
"But first," I said, leaning closer to her. "I have to ask you a question," a smile tugged at the corner of my lips when i saw Leslie blushing. You know, even a straight pole can be bent too but i was not intending to make her fall for me. "Are you homophobic?"
It took a moment or two to fully digest those words i said to Leslie. "No," she looks like a lost soul by my question. "I have a lesbian sister-" a realization finally hit her hard like a bullet train. "Oh gosh are you," she lowered her voice and looked around making sure no one is listening. "A lesbian?"
"Here is your food girls," Grey announced happily as he put the tray on the table. "This is for you," he gave Leslie a pasta with sandwich and orange juice.
"Thank you," Leslie thanked him. She was blushing furiously.
"I forgot to ask what you like," Grey told me. "So i got you the same as Leslie," he was scratching the back of his head.
"Oh. I'm not a picky eater." I assured him. "Thank you for the food," .
Grey sat down next to me. "Welcome," then we started to eat. I'm impressed that the food is actually delicious unlike my former schools their food are gross especially the pizza. "Hmm Lily," Grey murmuned while chewing his food. "Where are you from? Why did you transfer here in the middle of the school year?"
"Yeah," Leslie interjecred. "You must be really special because the principal is really strict here,"
"Grey," Aerin said, there is a irritation in her voice. "Where is your twin?"
I immediately lost my appetite by the sight of the Queen Bee.
Grey wiped his lips before answering. "I have no idea, maybe she was flirting with some girls around the campus,"
"You are no different Grey," Aerin snorted then turned to me. "And you Nerdy," she gave me a crudely insulting stare. "You should have known where to stand in this school,"
"Go away Aerin," Grey shooed the Queen Bee away. "If you ever lay a finger on Lily," his voice is firm and suddenly become scary. "Don't let me put you in your place,"
"Really Grey," Aerin smirked, she is not affected of what Grey told her. "You know better," before Grey could react Aerin already pressed her lips against him. There were whispering and murmured lingered around the cafeteria. "See yah," then Aerin walked with a victorious smile on her face.
I bit my sandwich. "Wow,"
"I know right," Leslie chuckled.
Grey sighed and shakily ran his fingers through his hair. We continued eating and totally forgot about what had happened earlier. I think Grey and Leslie are going to be my good friends.
The sky is dark and rain started to fall. I already texted and called my Father to pick me up because my class is over but he was not here yet so i have to wait a little more.
A black camaro stopped in front of me and the window slowly rolled down. My heart skipped a beat one or two when i saw the beautiful face of Cameron. "Hey Lizzie, do you need a ride?"
"It is Lily not Lizzie," I corrected her and burried my hands inside my pockets. "No thanks, my father is coming,"
Cameron's fingers were gently tapping against the steering wheel. "Are you sure? I won't bite you not unless you wanted me too,"
My face blushed. "Yeah, I'm sure," Cameron chuckled, gosh even her laugh is so beautiful.
Another car stopped and my father got out carrying an umbrella. "I'm sorry Lily, traffic!" he said and accompanied me towards his car while Cameron is watching with a sly smile on her face.
